When you are building things in a workshop if the component is listed in Green it is coming from the workshop stash, if it is listed in white, then it is coming from your stash.
Oh my god thank you so much for leaving this comment, I will absolutely 100 percent start using workshops now. I was trying to find out if it used my own resources and I couldn’t find it anywhere
Good guide and smart mentioning the fact that taking a workshop does open the pvp mode in the game. Just a tip if you do take workshops on a public server, SNEAK can be your FRIEND while you are inside the boundaries of the workshop. If your in SNEAK other players can't see your dot on the map.
Notes: The three power station workshop yards have fusion generators. Of the workshops, these three are the most contested. Charlestown junkyard has 3 junk extraction points making it sought after The Truckstop has best alumnimum Hemlock Grove golf course near the top of the map has 3 acid extractors The butterfly santuctuary produces as much acid as an acid extractor, so if you're low on acid taking several workshops and dropping a sanctuary at each one can build things up. Blair mountain is easily the worst workshop due to how spread out enemies can be. The Mire and Cranberry bog workshops frequently have legendary enemies in their attack waves.
One very important thing you missed, is the fast travel mat. It's under miscellanies, and can be placed anywhere in the workshop. It makes it nice, because it allows you to fast travel, to a custom spot in the workshop, which gives you an advantage, in case someone is trying to take the workshop over, or to pop in, right where a resource is, so you don't have to walk to it.
I did not even know that that was a thing until some of the comments pointed out in the video. I will make sure to next time point it out if I update the guide video.
@@BioWagon I use it to put me inside a structure, that I've blocked the entrances with non destructible items, thus blocking any way to get in. This way, if someone tries to take over the workshop, once I'm there, the workshop cannot be taken over. Then it's just a waiting game, LOL! Doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's hilarious to hear them in area chat, mocking me. Problem is, I'm in the kitchen, making another cup of coffee...
I just gotta say as a noob, this was actually very helpful for me and well put together. I didn't know I got free plans and caps from these, I thought it was just resources so I've been avoiding them, thinking they are too overwhelming, but now I see it's not too bad. Thanks for the video man!
I don't use workshops often, but over the holidays, I'll claim 4 or 5 workshops in a private world and put a Santatron in each. Between defense events, I do my scorched rounds to collect Holiday gifts. It eats a day to be sure, but when I wrap everything up, I'll have 200+ holiday gifts to open with enough vendor food to top off my alts with caps.
I did not even think of that when I had fallout 1st. Take over all the workshops on a private world, put in collectors and gets tons of junk and in 30 days, I can leave fallout 1st and have junk for 6 months. I just might sign up again.
Didn't see it in the comments, and I only found this out like last year, but your teammates can build stuff in YOUR workshop. I helped out a lower level player by getting him better turrets and powering up all his extractors. Placed a collectron and a few items i didn't think he had, and went back to grind my dailies.
@@victorochoa3662 I get annoyed if its a higher level player who doesn’t need the help. But for low level players who are just starting out and need help, I am happy to help them if I can. I’m level 1400 and have all the ammo and resources I will ever need. So giving stuff away isn’t a hinderance to me at all. I even give away mutation serums and good legendary weapons and armor when I don’t need them taking up space in my inventory. I don’t do it to be heroic but to help people progress.
I have 2 blueprints of elevated 'boxes' - vault stairs leading to an elevated platform made up of upper floor garden tiles surrounded by walls. To save camp budget I don't use crops other than 1-2 gourds so the rest of the plants I need I plant in the elevated box (especially when there is a challenge to plant crops in a workshop or camp.) One box has a fusion generator, the other box doesn't. I have wiring to connectors at each corner of the box - depending on where the resources are I can place the box over one or more of the collectors and run power directly to the collector. I have a couple of blueprints for resource collectors - adhesive tree, wood pile, beehive, coffee machine, butterfly collector etc and place those down inside my elevated box. I put a couple of roof tiles on top of the box and place the cement truck on top - that gives me concrete for building or selling as bulk in my vendor. If I spend a session farming workshops I can collect not just the resources you normally get but all the utility resources as bonuses for use or resale. My blueprint also includes the Fast Travel 'welcome' mat so that I can fast travel directly to my elevated platform when on collection runs or to defend workshops as it spawns you on the mat. This means you are inside your workshop instead of being outside then making your way in. You can't 'program' collectrons at workshops to collect anything other than their default so I'll construct whatever ones I want - nuka collector, raider, fasnacht etc. Fasnacht and Santa tron sometimes collect irradiated sugar bombs which you need for brain bombs. Sometimes I'll put in turrets other times I don't - usually a 3 layer tower of stairs with cryo turrets to slow down enemies, punji stakes near the bottom of the stairs. To protect resource collectors I normally just surround them with concrete barricades as the enemies tend to target those before the collector and they are cheaper to fix. Scarecrows also seem to distract enemies from collectors - very cheap to make/repair and then you can kill the enemies while they target something less valuable.
easy tip, make "template" that has generators, resource items and turrents already on it so you can just plop it down at "center" it will auto defend your stuff and enable you to generate extra stuff more easily. i have "tower" type thing that has turrets alaround on elevated positions you can easily spread the power with pylons (you can also create small "gun platforms" to defend further away spots. with butterfly sanctuaries and so forth in each location you will generate loads of stuff... tea makers etc... having the collectron? each place becomes massive generators for you.
To take over a workshop without anything in it(meaning no other players put things in it) it cost 25 caps. A good idea is to clear any junk items from the workshop(example the cars at the race track). It gives a clear line of site for enemies to be taken out by the player and turrets. It doesn't cost anything to do that.
I would care about workshops more if we didn't have to re-do the whole thing every time we log in. On a certain level I get it, but on the other hand it just gets too tedious to have to continually deal with.
Agreed, I feel like if Bethesda wanted to do more workshops there should be like a rotating plans that you could get from them per week, and it would entice more people to take them
I agree. I've been arguing for a Workshop blueprint since launch. I'd love to be able to build up each workshop to my liking, save it as a blueprint of some kind, unique to that workshop. Then have it autobuild whenever I claim it and it hasn't been built up yet.
@@BioWagon thank you. While I'll stand by it indefinitely, I also understand that this concept comes with a slew of its own problems. The server stress alone would be a major issue, but then there's the trap CAMP builders and people that would just flood them with turrets.
I claimed a few workshops over Christmas.and was getting pvp challenges often. Usually pvp optimised builds and snipers. It got annoying after a while.
You did mention PVP...but you should add, that if you want to avoid PVP...sneak around in the workshop. Sneak when you take it and sneak when you build something in it- doing this you'll avoid 99% of PVPers.Otherwise, like what you're doing in the video you're essentially holding up a sign that you want someone to PVP you.
Thank you for this guide, I was really confused when I took over a workshop And these players got pissed and just kept shooting me forever. This video made me realize I met one of those people that we're really mad about a level twelve sneaking and stealing their workshop
I read a while back that was put in there by the PVP crowd. Bethesda wanted to appease those players because it was too hard for the PVP folks to rush up to the work bench and challenge the current owner.
The only good reason for taking a workshop is if you need to complete a daily challenge, particularly the ones that call for you to complete an event in a certain area, or if you're bored and want to grind some xp. Otherwise, the rewards are mediocre, even at low levels, the resource gatherers collect tiny amounts, and the enemies are rarely a serious challenge. Also, while you rarely get pvp people, when you DO, they're high-level griefers looking to get easy kills from low-level players, so if it DOES happen, you probably won't stand a chance unless you're spec'd to the nines. Also, in my experience, public teams NEVER come and help you, because they're all busy doing their own thing. Sorry to be so negative. They're just a bit like shelters: clearly built for pvp, but so badly executed you can only really have fun with them in that capacity if you have a private server and lots of friends.
Lvl 3 turrets, put them at a high height before u do anything... Then just keep building resource extractors while turrets take out enemies ( try hit each enemy with at least 1 bullet as u won't get xp off turrett kills)
@@BioWagon if the inventory items are in green then it's in the workshop budget and costs u nothing also ammo can be way more expensive depending on bullet types etc
Yeah I had to make sure to talk about as it is a big issue with workshops, I wanted to highlight the positives first, also thank you for watching the whole video ❤️❤️❤️
Instead of defending the workshop right away, wait until you need to reclaim it. You only need to clear one wave of enemies to reclaim a workshop. Saves time and bullets.
I should point out that people are taking workshops more often these days. One would think it is new players but these are always higher-level players and they often have backup. They attack even if everything is unlocked they. The most often attack the ammo workshop and the fusion core 1 but only after you've done all the work
I look at the workshops as free resources for very little effort. Having said that, there are a few I've claimed only to have to defend from wave after wave of mobs. I claimed the abandoned munitions factory in the northeast part of the map and basically couldn't leave it because every 15-20 minutes I had to defend. The last wave included three scorch beasts that completely destroyed everything before I could down them. I avoid workshops in areas where, despite great resources, the cost of defending is more than the reward. Maybe after I level up I give it another go.
Did you mention the fast travel rug? If you did, I misses it. I take workshops like this all the time, but I don't put a lot of effort into keeping them. I have a couple blueprints set up specifically to be used at workshops, my main one is a single foundation with an armor bench, a weapons bench, scrapbox, ammobox and stashbox. I fence it in, with stairs and put a bit of decor on it. Not only does this let me quickly scrap, dump, and repair, but it's set up to tick off a few points of each of the 3 "build 7600 of this in a workshop or CAMP" challenges.
If you dont want to attract players who wish to end your fun i recommend staying crouched while visiting your workshop as much as possible. Or you will be a target on the map with an event to which someone can fast travel to and collect your caps, junk, and damage your armour. Workshops used to be great before they got nerfed. There is nothing wrong with pvp, and worshops are pvp zones. If you truly want the best workshop. Build underground and leave them overun so no-one can even claim them as enemies spawn far away 😅
Taking workshops just really isn't important imo. It can be a fun and productive little side venture but totally isn't necessary to sustain your supplies and make your way into endgame gear etc.
there's no point in workshops unless you want to PvP or do seasonal events like farm xmas scorched/presents. you can get way too much canned coffee from this method it's enough to last the average player for many months or until the next event drops. there's far better ways to obtain resources/plans etc
So if you build up a workshop in a private world and then hop over to a public world, does your workshop get lost? Or will it remain in private world once you go back?
Can you put the extractors anywhere? and how can you tell what resource you will be getting? And when you leave the area it stay, right? And when you log out will it be there when you log back in another time. Thanks in advance!
When looking at the weapon customization screen on the workbench, just click on X or the button that you have applied to click on repair for the weapon. You should not have to go into any other menus other than hovering over it. If that does not work, I would recommend searching up a guide video for how to repair weapons.
@@BioWagon i am doing that and i have all the tools to but it is becaurse my mods is 0/46 . So its says but i dont know What mods is. Thanks for your fast answer. Sorry for my english 👍
@@brianadsersen8968 the mods to do not matter for the weapon repair as it should highlight it in the bottom of the weapon display, and no worries about the bad English I’m here to help out 👍
The only way workshops are worth it is on a private server. Be sure you delete your friends list outside of real friends. I had a rando showup on my private server and take my workshop then tried to start PvP. I deleted everyone after that. Also, I have less crashes if I avoid the right side of the map workshops and don't defend any of them with turrets.
@@BioWagon B knows when I have all of the workshops loaded up on a Saturday and then sends me a message that the private server has to be shut down for maintenance. Happens every time. I don't do weekend workshop harvesting anymore. lol
