A satirical take on what it feels like to first play Tekken. At my core I love this game. If you've played much yourself, this video will heavily resonate with you.
Everyone saying he needs to get good either missed the entire point of the video, or didn't watch it all the way through. Typical short temper Tekken players 🤣
i mean i watched the video and im pretty new to tekken also and this video doesnt resonate with me at all. he spent 2 minutes complaining abt korean backdash which isnt that hard in this game but also isnt that necessary either. everything he talks abt after that is literally remedied by the replay feature. it has never been easier in another fighting game except +r to learn how to adapt to things in this game
@@okaycoo4224 Abuse heat, abuse the most abusable part of your character, yoshimitsu is literally 3,1 up f1+2 flash, with f4 mixup, and 3,2,1+2 , and this will get you to fujin ranks if you chain it, and do 3,1 hold down 3,1 hold down etc to pressure them This iteration of tekken is braindead and you need to be braindead to win in it, until youre at tekken king defence BARELY matters, its all offense
@@MrJackira you are %100 Right I rarely use heat.. for some reason I try to save it just in case but my opponents will IMMEDIATELY engage heat & spend the whole meter. I’m gonna try to throw the “safe & pokey” type of tekken out the window and see how it goes 🤷♂️
@@okaycoo4224 Just go balls out, nobody knows how to block in this game, throws track sidesteps, and sidestepping is harder in general also try land your heat engage strings instead of just heat engaging, that way you have a full bar to abuse, and generally the rounds over before it runs out You got this
Nahh here is the thing, I’ve played literally every other major fighting franchise, and it just feels that this game has the most inconsistencies…it’s the most satisfying yet, most flawed. It has everything you want in a fighting game, yet it misses the mark for me🤷🏻♂️my biggest complaint tho is that the S tier characters are so far ahead of everyone else that it’s not even fun to play almost all the time…I mean take its current state for example, they JUST dropped Eddy, and now Eddy is the most played and is easily in the Top 2 most broken characters IN THE WHOLE GAME! A lot of the decisions made Bamco just leaves me scratching my head! Really wish this game was balanced a little better for sure
i feel like the issue of the game is that it rewards scrub unskilled behavior up till purple or blue ranks, the game is only extremely hard to play, punishing and overwhelming with information if youre a honest player who likes fundamentals and not gimmicks, if youre an unskilled button masher tekken is probably the easiest mainstream fighting game for that, and im not saying its an unbeatable strategy, most buttom mashers get stuck and quit the game eventually when they start getting outskilled in their peak rank
This is my first Tekken game and it's definitely been a mountain of learning. I've made it to purple so far and I can already look back at the player I was when I started and I definitely wasn't playing Tekken then. I'm not even sure I'm playing Tekken now, but I keep trucking.
@@gabereell not so impressive if you consider there's literally who stream play with autocombo in purple rank lol!! depend the character you play, if you play Devil Jin or Jin , or Azucena, or Jun, or Reina, or Alisa, or King, or Drag, literally half cast not even mention xiaoiu cuz shes braindead, youll go in purple rank by spamming 1 moove dont believe me try yourself. pick Jin and spam down 2, down 1, dive kick.... try let me know in 2 day with rank you get I wanna know!! for sure you get purple i bet on it!!
@@itsnessuno6972 ive only got up there with asuka and feng and i can tell you rn i wouldn't have been able to do it if i didn't know counterplay to those characters bs. as you said, its spam, so pretty predictable overall, the only problem is how hard it is to deal with certain things like azu wr 3,2 even if you know how.
@@itsnessuno6972 but anyway, other than reina i agree for the most part. i love the game but the amount of raw 50/50s the best characters can put you in is not so fun.
@@gabereell exactly, especially if there's no counter play!! talking about xiaoiu now, her string mid 14 frame start mid mid mid leave her plus 4 lol?? what?? bullcrap anyway good luck on ur ranked matches
So... the only problem is that you literally complained about everything that was in every other Tekken game before 8... this is not new to Tekken 8, if you don't like this stuff, you just don't like Tekken.
Nah some of those points he’s right it you have to admit even main man swe himself said there is no counter play to some of these characters, but the game is in this early stage in life, so just give it about one year then we can actually Judge after the patches
@@kiddalmatiangawd8389mainman is a regular dude that hates everything but Mishima. There is counterplay it's just this game doesn't give you the ability to heavily punish your opponents like before. I'm nearly Tekken king at that seems like the biggest problem that and healing
In all honesty, Tekken 8 is just disappointing to me. It really feels like the Tekken I loved as a kid has come to an end and now it's becoming something I don't enjoy playing anymore. Everything about this game feels off, and muscle memory has fucked me up more times than I can count. Old combos don't work, the heat system is straight up ass, the character designs are either boring or beyond stupid, and the graphics/motion blur actually made me feel sick to my stomach. This just isn't Tekken to me anymore.
well well, I heard you out! and by god, I am sad for the people just clicking "dislike" frame 1, you bring up some valid points though XD this game is dogshit to new players, and I am happy I stuck around to the end, keep it up man
Thank you man, and its cool I fully expected this kind of reception when I put it out. Thanks for giving it a chance though, hope you enjoy the rest of the content.
to be fair i don't think people consider korean backdash as nessecarry as in the previous games from what i hear backdash is a lot faster then in tekken 7 so its not a requirement right away.
I'm both surprised and not and not at all surprised to see how many dislikes this video got. My only issue with it is that the video should have been titled "Why Tekken kinda Sucks" cuz what you really outlined are your issues with tekken in general rather than anything specific to Tekken 8
Yeah this is one of the complaints I've read that I actually agree with. Tekken 8 is the popular and newest one tho, so i wanted to catch some search results.
Tekken 8 sucks because it’s the same boring characters, absolutely horrible storyline, graphics are meh, stages are lame. The music sucks as well, crappy ass loud annoying as hell dubstep shit. The atmosphere is just absolutely boring if you already played the series in the past. Oh yeah and the kid avatars, lame as hell.
While i dont agree overall, some good points are touched on here, like the defence game, with the whole new often memed "aggressive" style of T8 it has changed the priorities of combat, and KBD being a required to learn quirk of the movement system is a threshold for some, & make SOCD on controlers a direct + (edit: just read the description, you got me , well played sir)
Question how did you get to ruler with all the plugging and wall carrying? Not complaining just really don't understand this game for the life of me I love 3d fighters but Tekken philosophy on 3d fighters is nothing like I ever played
@@himking1408 Plugging is something you'll eventually stumble upon and sadly rn there's no punishment for the monkeys who do it (not yet atleast) . But tbh if you just focus on learning the matchup instead of earning points you'll notice that tekken is alot more enjoyable, being able to peep which options you have and seeing them work in rounds give you that dopamine rush fr
??????????????did... did you guys watch the same video that i did????? He's basically saying that the suck is part of the grind because "Anything worth having never comes easy..."
My problem is the rage arts, story mode with no cameo characters, season 1 dlc with only 4 characters (when it should be 8 characters), characters not having their own theme song, and this game not coming to every gaming events for a trailer
This is the first tekken game I’ve seriously played and I was so close to never playing it again thanks man for letting me know I’m not the only one struggling and raging and not knowing what to do and just getting shit on by players who obviously been playing way longer than me thank u
yes tekken 3 was the game, i comeback play tekken in this and rage art trash balance in character suck alot and masher spammer are rewarded to much!! seen ppl in purple rank jin spamming dive kik then down 2, then demon paw, rinse repeat down 2, lol what skill are needed lol?? trash game!!
@@itsnessuno6972 right people say tekken takes real skills to learn yeah ok I still haven’t purchased the game I think I’m going to buy wwe 2k 24 instead lol
@@taym510Oak do what you think is best probably in god of destruction rank there's the one who play 10 hours a day, in my opinion balance is off alot, but if you will not take it to seriously then is a fun game. But if I knew before to buy that was like what it is, I'll wait for discount. Anyway is not a bad game for fun if you want competition then you will rage alot lol..
@@itsnessuno6972 ok thanks I’ll probably pick it up when it goes on sale I’m still playing mk1 and guilty gear and dragon ball fighter z I was go get tekken for my b day this month but I’ll wait till it’s on sale like you said
This video perfectly describes my experience with the game lmao I love it in a second but then I hate it the next I recently got my Kazuya in Vanquisher, I know it's not exactly the most impressive rank, but compared to how I was doing Tekken 7, I can't help but feel proud of myself for coming pretty far in my learning journey since I first picked the game up online
Yeah man thats exactly how it is! Vanquisher is a respectable rank man, the bottom of ranked is the hardest in my opinion. Learning how to deal with people who have no knowledge of the game can be hard. A lot of what works in bottom ranked does not work as you get slightly higher on the totem pole.
Definitely wouldn't say this is the darks souls of fighting games considering there are other 3D fighting games id say are way more complicated to learn. Especially with Tekken 8. I just feel like this specific tekken is way too casual and feels like (in my opinion) it doesn't even know what it wants to be as a fighting game anymore. But that's just me.
All of these other comments didn't watch the entire video obviously ,good job on a "guide for new players" or "if your new to tekken here is what to know" . Good satire and great execution. Hope to see more of it soon, Subbed.
Great video. I’m on a similar journey with the game, after actually taking the time to understand pressure, reading the opponent, and for the love of god not trying any crazy combos that I’m pretty trash at, I too have finally made it to Garyu.
Just found the new channel, I been enjoying tekken 8 tbh and got to mighty ruler but had to stop playing due to hand issues atm, also got deejay to master, your videos got me started on learning him properly
While this game may be hard and frustrating it's ok. Unfortunately this game is simply boring. Seeing rage art for a thound's time or being juggled with that stupid flying animation with your feet up is just not fun at all. And it's not about winning or losing. When I play a game I actually (weirdly enough) want to play it, not watch it. Taking away control from the player for the whole duration of the same boring combo isn't imo a good game design. Yeah I know it's my mistake that I got launched etc. I am fine dying because of it. But just watching that cutscene till it's over is not fun at all and gets pretty old pretty fast. Same as doing them. Yeah I know that when I launch my opponent I can press those buttons to carry him into the wall and murder him there and he cannot do anything about it. So I am sitting and brainlessly pressing that string of buttons like a monkey and seeing the same moves again and again. Boring af. That's why I completely stopped using rage art and juggling combos myself.
im just an all out tekken hater when it comes to the whole franchise t8 has seemed to be the least boring tekken game ive ever played but ive just given the tekken franchise chance after chance and its consistently disappointed me so i think i may just accept that im a tekken hater the gameplay is just really bland to me and i prefer more flashy fighting games such as mortal kombat and street fighter which ik is going to attract hate like a magnet but thats just how i am
Hey now, as a Korean kick man enthusiast i dont roll my face on the controller its my knuckles all right? real talk tho hwo is not as scary to deal with as king 121 grab, points bizarredly adventurely and proceeds to RKO you and the squat dance lows ait all you need to counter Hwo is some good lows and spacing if there isnt a b+3 hit in a span of 15 seconds that hwo will either have a melt down or is a God of destruction in disguise
As a tekken veteran i can understand you're fustration playing this game series since it has a pretty extensive history of complex gameplay and some deep & dark, and oddly humorous storylines with the main story and the characters involved. People who have played tekken for the first time & don't know what to do aganist certain characters can make anyone fustrated. I won't go out of my way to put you down if you think this game sucks for a certain reason but i believe if someone practices enough to understand character fundamentals, how to punish them and keep a cool head playing against other people & peacticing and improving on a daily basis then they can see this game series a bit different. this can be applied to any other fighting game also but i could be wrong 🤷🏾♂. Your video is pretty good and i hope you'll do well growing your own channel and playing tekken if you're still doing that🙏🏾😇🎮🕹💯.
I get the sarcasm/satire, but real talk, game is just cheeks. lol To any actual new players who stumbled upon this, trust me, don’t even bother. You’d be MUCH happier and better off playing ANY other game.
I haven’t played it yet but I had 7 and I barely played in havent been that into tekken since the 3rd one I rather play mk or S.F. or guilty gear or dbz 🤷🏿♂️
@@uhhhhhhhhh333 Got Victor, Jun, and Lili in Red. Just hit Purple with Leo. Main Azu currently sitting at Blue rank pushing for King Rank sometime in the future. So, wanna try again? You’re gonna have to do MUCH better than some clown term from 2016 kiddo. lol
As much fun as I have in many fighting games. Street fighter 6 is probably my favorite fighting game to come out in recent time. So uh. Make a sf6 video
Tekken 8 is the least frustrating fighting game out. Sitting in red after about 70 hours (mostly been playing in lobbys with friends). Games is so much fun to learn. It's isn't for everyone, but it sure is amazing.
Stupid tekken 8.I never stop play tekken since tekken 2 in 1995 until tekken 7.But I really dissapointed with tekken 8.spam spam spam some with no punishment or really fast to see..stupid
Awesome. Long time tekken player Who only dabble in 7 but played a crap ton of 5. Going all in with tekken 8 is definitely on some Souls level shit. Made it Into red ranks with Reina. Every time I'm a step forward to middle red I get blasted back down to orange from some super high Tekken prowess Players. Why are they All over these ranks and not higher? It's cool if you beat them and you gain a lot of experience , but man... it sucks
Tekken needs a new generation of characters or something. What's the fucking point of buying a new game in this series to play as the same characters from 5 and 6? 90% of the roster is tekken 7 with hardly any new characters. Literally have to wait years before the roster has an sctual variety. Blows my mind people buy fighting games and play as the same goddamn characters from the ps1 days.
You’d feel attached to your main too if you’ve been playing the same character since tekken 1 I am not one of those people but have a few years of my main under my belt and I can safely say I’ve grown attached and look forward to improving more at the game with them with each passing day
@@Retibra The game last for freaking years before the sequel comes out. 5-6 years of using the same characters gets boring for me. Why TF would I want to play the same ones again in a sequel?
well tekken 8 suck cuz is literally a masher game for noobs, i restart play tekken after tekken 3 get to garyu with bryan 60% winrate, but find plug in promotion then i plugged for letting other know the feeling at 5 matches so then i feel noob so i loose 5 games on purpose. still garyu but i dont play anymore tbh. is not knowledge check is umbalanced check, Jin for example down 2 lol counter launch 20 frames almost impossible to react wanna talk about hes down 1? azucena go in stance dodge automatic high and low lol? plus her running 3, 2? what this game is trash cuz some characther are in autopilot some struggle. lol wanna talk about ling xiaoiu? her kit 200 moves many string plus countless tbh plus strings, and many many string that are mid mid mid mid lol end in plus frame are u fking kidding me they can literally spam that till u die come on this game is trash cuz is very very very umbalance!!! and ppl say is not lol ok dudes!! if i want i can climb even more than garyu cuz i beat some purple ranks in normal matches more than once so np but the fact is i get bored after one game. find spammer after spammer lol drag or king or jin or azucena no more victor after break patch lol.. expulsion easy to punish launch so easy to counter vic. but some character are nuts..
Ugh. Bad opinions right here. I mean to each their own but I've been playing fighting games for over 30 years and Tekken 8 is fine. It's better than fine actually it's a lot more fun than most. I'd rather study this for tournament than SF or MK. Don't get me wrong there good games but Just not that exciting to me. Not to mention I feel like Bandai Namco has a better support for this game. I can imagine in a season or two the game will be tweaked and optimized and will be way more enjoyable than the competition
Great video. It really is a 2D game where the 3rd dimension is just a kind of "parry", except the only way to know if it works against a certain move or situation is to lab it. On top of that, there are a million moves and strings. This game is an enormous continuous knowledge check. If you have no life and enjoy labbing this crap, go for it... otherwise the game sucks.
Yea 😅 game is good, but I’m like main man swe there is absolutely no counter play to some of those characters no counter play you have to be patient when in previous games counter play is everything now it’s just straight aggression which can be a problem
Here is a short version of my story with tekken: Tekken 7 was my first fighting game. I picked Alisa because she gave me a hard time in the story mode. When I play with my cousins, their mashing beats mine. And so, I went to RU-vid and learned the hell out of the game 7 years later, I reached True Tekken God in Tekken 7, and non of my cousins want to play with me I literally got good at the game out of spite LMAO
488 people with the return youtube dislike extension didn't watch the whole video and ignored the description. anyway My only complaint with Tekken 8 is the customisation, but that's been ongoing since Tekken 7, as Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2 had the best customisation in the series.
Honestly I don't like this game I've played and watch gameplay and It's just not fun the character look awful the moves are really weird and not how each person would fight if I'm being honest tekken 3 tag and 4 was tekken at its prime all this extra stuff is just well sad it sucks to see my favorite fighting series reduced to this
T8 is a bad game. It feels like street fighter. Maybe I’m just bad but I’m almost tekken god and every single online game I play is just 50/50 mixer into armor move 50/50. What happened. T7 was so good.
I get the sarcasm, but i wanted to point out that in tekken 8, normal backdashing is much faster so you dont actually need to learn kbd anymore. You can still learn it if you want but normal backdashing is actually viable now
