Yup, the government body overseeing the economy has been hoping for a while now that some of the low unemployment rates that have been driving up salaries and opportunities for workers will vanish. It's a key pillar of their plan to steer the country away from a recession. That, and higher interest rates. All good, right?
Right now a surprising amount of our economic future is being determined because, according to contemporary economic thought, things were going too well. So now we're paying for it, and hoping we don't end up paying even more. Here's how we got here, what the BoC hopes will happen, and what we can expect those forces to do to, you know, us.

Late stage capitalism only benefits the few. A system that relies on unemployment and low wages is not one we should continue.

great job! thanks for uploading such recording, the content is so refreshing to listen to and sort of give a person like me some relief that there are still people with common sense in the world! These idiots are raising rates when gas prices & food prices are the main drags of inflation, both cannot be solved by raising interest rates! Trying to put people out of their homes and employment is just evil if you ask me, it's super insane and I could've never imagined anything like this to be happening in plain sight for everyone to understand in this modern days. These morons think we're still in the 80s & 90s. The world has gone mad! The leaders have completely lost their minds and touch with basic common sense. I thought we cared so much about mental health not too long ago, that people should be getting all the help they need and blah blah blah. Bunch of reckless monsters with zombie poopoo brains in their heads. They better get a hang of this SH*T quickly before Canadians loose their mind for the first time in history and turn into Americans (Jan 6.) LOL.... officially subscribing to channel @CityNew... Vassy Kapelos amazes me!

Interest rates keep rising because the number of the population and number of jobs don't balance the proper income they need to earn. If they don't get the proper income and wages they need to earn then more jobs will disappear and unemployment keep rising the same with interest rates. More people keep borrowing money interest rates keep getting higher.

I wish that news networks would focus more on this stuff and less on the "sport" of politics and culture war nonsense. This affects everyone and is the stuff that really matters, especially for awakening class consciousness.

Based on the level of knowledge of economics this guy showed, I am guessing he went to Christia Freeland school of economics.

For salary earners having a passive source of income is the best thing you could have , because aside the the fact that it isn’t always enough you could lose your job any day at any time , have something to fall back to is crucial , for me it is trading the Forex and crypto market and no I didn’t have that much knowledge to begin to earn that’s why I said passive income, I leave the profit making to the pro like my Advisor 'Margaret Johnson Arndt' , who has been doing a wonderful job

Not at all, having monitored edge my portfolio performance which has made a jaw dropping $483k from just the past two quarters alone, I have learned why experienced traders make enormous returns from the seemingly unknown market. I must say it's the boldest decision I've taken since recently.
