The Batman was an incredibly immersive and visually stunning movie, the most realistic I've seen in theaters. The 2D experience was better than even the 3D of Avatar: The Way of Water. Movies like The Batman, John Wick Chapter 4, and Dune Part 2 are rare because they target mature audiences and make less money compared to mainstream blockbusters. Just look at the numbers: - The Batman: $772 million (should've hit $1 billion) - Dune Part 2: $714 million (deserved $1.2+ billion) - The LOTR Experience - John Wick 4: $440 million (should've made atleast $700 million) But these movies are pulling in the big bucks: - Jurassic World Dominion: $1 billion - Doctor Strange 2: $955 million - Deadpool and Wolverine: $1.33 billion - Inside Out 2: $1.69 billion (Crazy isn't that?) - Spiderman No Way Home: $1.91 billion So, we might rarely get these amazing movies for mature audiences in the future.

Those last 5 movies you listed are all nostalgia bait movies as-well except maybe inside out 2 since idk I haven't seen it. Goes to show that a lot of people don't even want to take a chance on a great movie which is outside their comfort zone, which is funny because those first 3 movies are not exactly not mainstream either, they are just on the better side of what blockbusters should be in terms of quality.

I didn’t expect this to be something I’d thrown on the tv often just to have something in the background. It’s blown my mind how the more you engage w this story/mystery/conspiracy, the more you’re rewarded. The attention to detail in creating this world is astounding, and reading Paul Dano’s Riddler comic as well as watching the Penguin HBO show, just enriches your appreciation for the world Reeves has created. I have zero interest in this Batman joining a wider DC movie universe; keep it in house with a tight lid, this thing is gold by itself.

One of the things I found interesting is the amount of times Batman asks a question throughout the movie. And the fact that he ultimately loses at the end while taking alot of damage due to his inexperience. It made me realize how much the other movies portray him as an unstoppable force that never makes mistakes. I also like how Bruce Wayne is actually the alter ego in this interpretation.

It’s aging very well I know it’s not perfect but it’s damn close and it’s a sleeper hit it gets better the more you watch it.The cinematography is excellent and aesthetically pleasing, the acting and the character development is genius especially Robert Pattison’s performance and the world building of Gotham is excellent. The films weaknesses are clearly studio interference but I’m sure they will let Matt Reeves cook for the sequel.

I love this movie so much because of all the attention to detail on top of this already well executed concept. The Riddlers glasses were inspired by one of the first ever movie adaptations of the Riddler. The Batmobile itself was designed by render artist ashthorp, who previously worked on brutalist (vehicle) designs that perfectly fit the gotham aesthetic. It all just ties in together so well

Agreed bro! As much as I loved the Nolan films the fight choreography was the weakest part. That and how bland Gotham felt. It just felt like Chicago bc for the most part it was. Besides Batman Begins bc the narrows looked really cool. The Batman actually takes the time to develop Gotham as a character too. A dark, cold, rainy, neon, cesspool of crime and muck. And starts Bruce off as a heavily flawed character with noble intentions. The fight choreography, cinematography, and the overall atmosphere of ‘The Batman’ is superior, but the plot of ‘The Dark Knight‘, the writing, along with Heath Ledger’s Oscar worthy performance really took the film to heights rarely achieved. And while TDK is no masterclass in cinematography, it does have some very impressive shots. That to say The Batman is a very well made movie and I’m looking forward to seeing the Bruce Wayne persona developed in The Batman part II. Also here’s a hot take, Ben Affleck as Batman is my favorite live action adaptation of the character.

Very much enjoyed and agreed with your points in the video. However I will say: From as long as I can remember, Keaton/Burton's Batman have been my Batman and everyone who know me, knows I think this. So when I first watched The Batman (2022) at the cinema I had an amazing feeling building up and kept thinking "nobody's going to believe me when I tell them this is better [than '89 and Returns]". The music, the atmosphere, visual style, Pattinson's performance, were all 10/10 on point. But then the third act of the movie happened. The film fell off hard after the Riddler prison scene where the movie felt like it should have ended. But it carried on to the Marvel style final fight sequence and the knock-off Nolan Batman message about being a symbol boll*cks. And to cap it off they filmed three ending scenes and used all three of them. Keaton/Burton's '89 and Returns remain the better movies. But being third place live action Batman movie is still something to be proud of.

The Batman isn’t a remake of 7. They have a couple of obvious things in common, but that’s a very superficial analysis of the movie. It owes more to neo noir of the 1970s like Klute, Chinatown, The French Connection, etc. and Batman comics than it does Fincher. This would be like dismissing Jaws as a ripoff if The Birds because it took some general inspiration from that movie and did its own riff on it.

Agree it's directed really well, the action scenes in particular seem a real step-up from previous batman movies and superhero movies in general. I also enjoy how it's going down the presenting batman as a cop operating outside the system, Batman is basically just Dirty Harry in this film and it works really well. Unfortunately it's main issue is just how boring it is lol, so much of the gangster/selina Kyle plot goes on for way too long to the point where it just feels like a sequence of cut-scenes from a video-game and for the world's greatest detective, Batman is so stupid in the film lol. The Riddler scenes are pretty stupid pseudo political nonsense but they at least actually seem to progress the narrative. It also lacks a lot of the charm of other batman movies, everyone is so bloody serious haha, thank god for Colin Farrell who gives a really entertaining performance that feels like it actually belongs in a batman film. Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy but there's so many times ill be excited by teasing the Joker's appearance in the sequel. Overall a very well directed/shot film with some good performances but god it's let down by a really bad screenplay which lack the thrills of The Dark Knight and the charm of Batman Returns.

Nice video! Just one thing I picked up, the reporter that was killed is actually Hush's father and not the Riddlers. I think with the Riddler bringing that information to the news is the origin of Hush, and he blames his father being killed on Bruce, they also went to school together when they were younger. Hopefully we see some of this side of the story in the next film.

What an incredible video! If I could point out just one misconception (encouraged by the movie's own marketing), it would be calling what's left of Bruce Wayne Batman. I would call him The Vengeance, referencing the clapper board used during filming and how he sees himself(Obviously you got it buuut i think it would be a nice tweak to the text). It's only at the end of the movie that we see the character realize that he needs to be much more if he wants to have any positive impact (learning Spanish is the first step, I would say hahaha).

I absolutely LOVE this movie. It gets so much hate and idky, people are so conditioned to think the sanitize, corporatized, bland movies were good because they were "technically" good. This movie was so dirty, so personal, down to earth, grounded, the music, the cinematography just blasted all your senses while you feel the bass from every punch, the suspense in the silence. I was not a fan of Robert Pattinson, hated he took the role, then I watched it. This is my definitive batman. I always watched the dark knight trilogy, after watching this and seeing the trilogy with weak fights, seizure inducing cuts and bland visual, it was clearly just nostalgia.

I remember having grown so impatient that I started to not care how the movie would turn out. Then I heard Reeves say it would be a film noir. I thought, ok sure, but you're not really going for it. It's still going to be capeshit first and foremost. This was probably 2 years ahead of actual eventual release. They might have only barely begun principle photography. I caught an early fan screening the tuesday before premier, just being a regal member or whatever. First scene was captivating, but then the monologue? I couldn't believe Reeves actually went there. I knew the movie was legit. And the monologue itself was very noir but also very batman, without coming off cheesy. IMO if you remove the joker scene(fucking dreadful), the movie is actually flawless.

Never really felt like Batman to me when he would tackle all his problems head on with fighting rather than thinking it through and taking a stealthy approach, I get he’s supposed to be more vengeful/unhinged, but it makes him look dumb when he’s supposed to be the prep god

It makes me wonder why more RU-vid videos aren't 21:9. Most phones these days in landscape are 21:9 and if I'm watching on my TV I'm already used to black bars from the movie content, but RU-vid... Always 16:9. Ironic when a video gushes about cinema mastery doesn't commit. Not criticising, just an observation. At least it's not portrait, like tiktok bullshit. Edit: great video though. 100% quality. New subscriber.

This movie is the Batman movie for fans. It's more grounded then Nolan's films but still more "comic booky". Batman is the main character. He is solving riddles. No stupid Batman voice. It's great. The best bat suit. Pattison nailed it. I like autistic Batman. Because if he were real, dude would be hella autistic.
