Palpatine: I simp for no woman Queen Mother: I’ve murdered or gaslight my entire family and hate the Jedi despite the fact they did nothing to me Palpatine: ok maybe one
I wonder if some of their ancient lore with the Jedi got miss interpreted over the centuries? Or perhaps they rewrote their history & made it seem like they liberated themselves. …Then later claimed the Jedi did not to help them; seeing them as hypocrites🤷🏻♂️. Plus, any fascist government needs a “Boggie Man” to rally their ppl against a common cause.
The Courtship of Princess Leia is one of my favorite novels I own from the Legends era of Star Wars. And the ships of the Hapes Consortium are real marvels.
Tenel Ka Chume Ta'Djo is one of the most interesting characters. Daughter of a Hapen royal and Witch of Dathomir, Jedi Knight an Secretly a princess known to rarely laugh, and Queen Mother and Wife of a the Dark Lord of the Sith, Mother to the prophesized Jedi Queen.
Prolly controversial sidenote: I still think Courtship of Princess Leia feels not only underappreciated, but also overhated. In my opinion, it's early Star Wars camp done decently right once you get to know it, even compared to the Jedi Academy trilogy and, ugh, The Crystal Star and Jedi Prince. Helps that it's part of the Essential Legends Collection of novels, though I still complain of the inclusion of The Old Republic tie-ins like bloody Revan.
That was an amazing book in my opinion. We get to see the witches of dathomir and their views on the force with what they see as light and dark, cool force abilities including communication via the force, storm wielding ,a sort of dust holograms and more.
@Toramai-pi8wx I don't recall that in the book. I recall that Han was forced tortured by the leader of the nightwitches and was forced to work to get the giant worms...
Maybe not Sidious, but I could definitely see Palpatine being sort of like the historical Cleopatra was to roman men. Kind of old and frumpy, but exuding charisma that makes these lady tyrants see his as a super-special-exotic socially dominating but still flattering male.
Palpatine: "Master, do I really have to do this?" Darth Plagueis: "Yes, Sidious. Infiltrating the queen's palace and seducing her are vital steps to our plan." Palpatine: "Not that! Do I have to be smuggled into the palace in a rolled up carpet?! It feels humiliating."
Bunnies at the playboy machin often spoke of how gross it was to sleep with Hugh HefnerBunnies at the playboy machin often spoke of how gross it was to sleep with Hugh Hefner, so getting their freak on with the emperor must have been at least 10 times as bad or even worse.😱
Ah a world were all simps could feel welcome and then stomp on and force to work in the mines and to never see the rest of the Galaxy for the rest of their lives.
I'd love to hear more about the Nyriaan, O'reenian, Tof, Vagaari, Vultan, Advozse,...and especially the Anarrian and Altiri with their planetary rivalry.
The Hapes Consortium has some interesting ships, but I hate the whole "some people are just inferior" thing. I prefer Mandalorians who celebrate everyone who can do murder! Regardless of gender! :D Also I've always pronounced it like capes, rather than "Hay-Pees" and that has thrown me this entire video, but I still love you guys 😂
@@ZontarDowDon't know why you seem giddy about pointing that out but historicallly there's been some. The Haudenosaunee confederacy was fairly matriarchal. And did quite well.
@@adrianaslund8605 I don't know about underdogs but I agree that women didn't get as many opportunities in warfare as men. I'm sure there were other, even more dangerous things they'd love to do but I'd say everyone got their fair share of pain and suffering back then.
Probably one of the best non-major factions in all of Star Wars. Their ships are definitely a massive plus for the Consortium as a whole. My favorite is definitely their signature Battle Dragons.
Hello Geetslys. My name is Isaiah and I have something to say to you. You see one day the earth will be taken over not by a human but by evil spirits and their leader Satan who will pretend to be God and he will give you a mark if you and your loved ones take it you will all be goners. But there is hope that hope is Jesus and he loves you and like any father he wants to help you and keep you safe especially from the devil. But I can not force you to believe the choice is ultimately yours have a nice day Shalom Shalom.
Ugh, so gross. The thought of Sidious bumpin' uglies is an image I can't un-see. This must be where he gets mounted and dominated, to recharge his emperor-ness.
The female Hapes’ initial reasons for having a distaste for men that would weep into what became their culture is actually something very real. In real life, the major reason for women who shift to misandry is having poor experiences with lesser men who struggle with showing respect and/or equality. Legends actually touches on something understandable rather than fabricating or leaving out any reasons for the inequality in Hapes culture that simply don’t resonate, while also opening the door to the potential of positive change.
Think it was case for Sidious, that he left hapes, along as there was no benefit to invading them and gives narrow bottleneck entry points, any invasion would result in years of stalemate. Plus they also both empires had a hatred of Jedi and instituted purges of them in both their respective territories.
Considering the female supremacy and view of men being inferior kind of reminds me of the Amazons from Greek mythology; furthermore, I can’t help but wonder if the person who added the Hapes Consortium to the Star Wars universe was also a Star Trek fan in order to make the Nova battlecruisers; not to mention the Hapan Battle Dragon being inspired by the Cylon Basestars from Battlestar Galactica (granted this is being said by someone who has NEVER seen a single episode of either Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica)
You're right about the Hapan ships. I've watched both shows and I agree that the Nova Battle cruiser wouldn't look out of place in Star Trek while the Battle dragon is a Base star rip-off.
In Star Wars, Empire at War; Forces of Corruption, I remember securing the top Right Quarter of the Galaxy, then making a mission to B-line to Coruscant. On my way, I saw the Transitory Mists and the small Hapes Consortium inside it. Easy Conquest in the end, but cool to see the full on lore for it. I fortified that area as a chokepoint with my best shipyards and Defense Platforms. Now that I know the ladies there hate men, well.... they must've hated a man occupying their space as his own personal defense/production center. 😅 3:02 Not gonna lie, never understood why this was their final decision, considering how many of their male relatives were taken young to be conscripted into piracy. I'd have expected them to hate piracy, not just men. If anything, if the genders were swapped, I honestly don't see this playing out the same way. (Not to mention, killing cousins and their own kids in political plays is... insane.) Shoot, the fact the men mostly tried to escape later on and willingly join pirates to escape this society shows a tragic cycle of oppression.
@@teleportedbreadfor3days What mod are you playing? I thought you were talking about Empire at War: Expanded Thrawn's Revenge... but they dont have the Vong YET.
@@luigi180 That’s what I’m talking about. But I think ‘Thrawn’s Revenge’ goes as far as into the Thrawn Campaign. Idk, there seems to be a lot of versions of the mod on the Steam Workshop, it gets confusing. But I promise, you can play as the Yuuzhan Vong. I can’t make this up.
I bet the empire liked Hapes because all the men seeking a better life would see joining the empire as an upgrade, not only to living under the matriarchy, but an upgrade to living in a pirate clan to escape said matriarchy. Experience as a pirate would probably toughen them up for Imperial military service. After military service, they could retire to a civilized society that didn't treat them like 2nd class citizens, but actually gave them preferential treatment as human males. It would've been the civilization of Hapes without the anti male sentiment, the masculinity of the pirate clans but with better retirement options. Be almost like economic star wars version of MGTOW and Passport Bros.
@@noahtylerpritchett2682 the empire could adjust helmets or wear goggles or get contacts, or just get assigned to darker work environments, night missions, support jobs etc.
Perhaps a video on the Yevetha, their enslavement, their revolt against the Empire and their rise as a threat to the Galaxy during the Black Fleet Crisis?
I wouldnt be surprised if this got included into the new canon judt for everyone to scream at disney for woke writing. The arguments would get a good laugh from me tbh. Oh yeah Palps is DOWN BAD 😭
So it looks liek there was a fifth way to try and stay out of the Clone Wars. We've already have living in extremely remote unimportant worlds, joining the Council of Neutral Ssytems, living in Hutt Space, and going to Korellia, and now we have added going to the Hapes system.
Not throughout most cultures and most of human history. Misogyny and double standards that discriminate against women are incredibly common in almost all cultures historically. Odysseus was constantly worrying about his wife being unfaithful while sleeping around undiscriminately. His desire for control was more important than real morals. Which pissed me off incredibly as a kid and you see that sort of logic everywhere regarding women when just reading human history.
@@richietribe9487 I swear I read something about them going to neigboring towns so they'd have a second generation of Amazons... And they'd only take the girls?)
Holy shit! My old avatar look in Second Life appears in 14:03. Lily.Kanashimi! That's me! :D still play a Hapan Royal Navy Admiral, but with a much newer and better avi. Star Wars Roleplay needs more people and the Hapes Consortiumis open to new faces! ❤ shameless plug!
