A lot of people have pointed out that the felling axe was nerfed in PT5, which is true - it did receive a slight nerf to damage and swing speed. Despite that, it was still the most expensive traded item and one of the two most used axes in high roller during PT5. Here's the data if you're interested: imgur.com/a/HaAkDv4 - source is the development channel in the official Dark and Darker Discord server.
What do you think the bonus gift from Madrinas (coffee people) is?? I'm very curious and hyped. The felling axe needs a new animation for being a 2H and maybe a nerf to dmg in the low 30's. Thank for the video!! Brighter be my day thanks to Dark and Darker (and you ;* )
Unfortunately I don't know any more about the Madrinas Dark and Darker bonus item than you do, but I would guess it's probably just a Madrinas item without any Dark and Darker branding. I totally agree that damage in the low 30s would be about right for the felling axe, which would put it somewhere between a one-hander and the slower two-handers. ❤
You have to be literally inside of the person you’re trying to hit with a felling axe. If you need to be that close to someone, you should be rewarded with high DPS. Rogues can easily flank felling axe as shown at 15:25. Weapons with high reach AND high dps like halberd and longsword. The reason the barb with the epic battle axe was doing only 25% of your health was because he was 1) arm/body shorting you and 2) hitting you with non ideal impact zones (he was too close).
What you say, is true but the damage of ythe felling axe is still a bit to high. Most melee class apart from rogue don't really have chance to sidestep and for a Barb closing in to melee while raging is easy to getting headshot and two shotting peopple. Personally I would chance the Fell Axe animation, after the first hit there there should be more delay and a larger wind up. Basically what I am suggesting is transforming the fell axe in a High risk high reward weapon
Awesome vid! I would say that nerfing could come as damage. It does at least help that the range and accuracy needed to land a hit is pretty competitive for its speed.
It's still one of the best weapons in the game. A lot of folks suggest kiting felling axe users, but that's not always possible when they're sped up by a bard or wizard.
I play ranger and the only class I find annoying is fighter with a cleric and bard funneling him. Barb does crazy damage but 1 trap and there isn't much you can do but accept that you are dead.
I agree that the felling axe is the best two-hander, and I agree that buffball is oppressive, but I don't agree that it's the best Barb weapon. As others have pointed out it was brought down to be slightly more reasonable in PT5, but even in PT4 I would have disagreed with you. There is...another. One broken axe to rule them all.
@@kballsforever Just a single Horseman's Axe. It doesn't hit as hard as a Felling Axe, but the mobility is very high for the way the class works with it.
@@kballsforever The hatchet is surprisingly decent for what it is lol, I run it at the very start before I've found a vendor selling gray felling or horseman's axes lol. Looking forward to seeing what you pull off with the horsie axe
The felling axe is not op. It is a weapon that is fast and has a lot of swing speed, however, a very, VERY LONG wiff punish window. It is strong cause the majority of player want to go Berserk and just trade damage againt’s it. But when players play with a strategie and wait to wiff punish the Fellingaxe, it becomes a harder weapon to use. And also if the person using the felling axe misses a swing during a trade, they’re most likely dead.
@@gustavomarcondes3908 It's all good, and you make some good points. I think you're right that it won't be nearly as strong as people learn to play against it.
Its a good axe but really if the person understands how the axe works u can bate a shot and get easy hits on the barb for the reset for felling axe is long before u can strike again
@@brennanorr2 That's true, but with that in mind can I ask a question? Do you think it's good for the game that the felling axe can one shot most classes if they do manage to land a hit? I'm against one shot mechanics in general but I want to know your thoughts.
I personally am 100% against 1 shots entirely. I dont think there should ever be a point in the game no matter how geared you are, an how under geared they are, that it should be possible to one shot anyone at all. It makes fights last 5 seconds, and makes wanting to fight people feel way worse then it should. I think fights should last atleast a minute or 2, barbarians an fighters should feel almost equal to each other fighting it out, 2 or 3 hits shouldnt decide the fights. Armor needs to be more impactful, going naked needs to be heavily punished, speed builds are way too over powered. Remove the slow down you get when you swing so you can move forward into the swing allowing better punishment for kiters with speed builds, remove ignite wizard, the class is overly versatile, theres no reason a wizard can get 20 buffs from a cleric or bard get hasted go invisible run behind everyone to 2 shot 2 people then haste an invisible away like he was never there making him unpunishable. Speed is the most broken thing in the game an is what is killing it making every class feel underwhelming knowing as long as someones faster then you, 75% of the time your gonna lose the fight no matter how geared you are. Ive ran full blues an purples on a fighter even with sprint burst, i still died to a warlock butt naked, with just a sword an spells. Couldnt touch him at all. If you have no choice but to trap someone in a room to be capable of killing them, its over powered. I retract my statement from before, if your completely naked, you should be 1 shottable by anything. Make fights last longer, make attacks easier to hit, fix hit boxes so blatantly hit attacks dont miss, nerf wizard into a hero thats required to play safer an cast spells instead of giga chad front line speedy sonic menace making any other class look pathetic, remove double jump from rogues its way too strong i literally refuse to play the ruins map just because rogues cant be killed in it, nerf speed builds, make haste unable to be cast on allies an nerf its strength an duration, and you got yourself a balanced more rewarding game. If a fight is entirely unplayable, unfightable, lasts 3 seconds, and just based on their gear alone, you stand no chance no matter how you out play, itll be permanently unrewarding. Oh and one more thing, remove pickpocketing while invisible from rogues. If your gonna shove your grimy hands into peoples pockets, atleast be capable of fking being seen lol, ive watched a man go invisible an crouch walk into the gold horde room an just pick pocket an entire inventory full of collectibles from 3 guys an make 1k gold. Even after being found, couldnt even be chased and killed, cause "speed" equals "skill".
Ok there is a lot wrong with this so your saying you want no one to be one shot ever that literally impossible and stupid a noob that's level one will always get destroyed to do what you want would ruin the pace of the the game if a fight last 1 Min with let's say level 5 with a better gray weapon then 2 level 20 with purple gear would last up to 10 min this means they would have to increase how long you can stay in the match that would make it way more tuff on anyone who wants to go in a few games before sleep
@@dt-lg2oc It would almost be impossible to go into all the incorrect math you've just done lol. Skill plays a major role in everything that is dark and darker. However, for no reason should i spend a week grinding out gold an items an get super geared up to the teeth, an then still be able to get one shot and lose all that hard work and grind in 2 seconds flat. Or have someone moving 100 miles an hour kite me and become completely and entirely untouchable no matter what i do or how i play. Levels also dont play the biggest part either. Ive killed many lvl 20's while level 5 and below in starter gear without any issues. It also doesnt make sense to work super hard to get the nicest things and have it basically not matter at all if other peoples also have really nice items. Its basically still just a lvl 1 vs lvl 1 starter gear experience. I as a barbarian, have ran up on a full purple 2 unique item, weapon and cloak fighter, and hit him twice in the head an he fell over dead. In 2 swing in 2 seconds i wiped out a weeks worth of work the guy busted his butt for. In what world is that fun, in what world is that okay. Making armor way more impactful, makes skill that much more impactful and reinforces new players enjoyment in the game. No one wants to join in, hop in their first game, then get ran down on by a hasted barbarian and one shot instantly having no chance at all to fight back, an then quit the game. Even having gray plate armor, you should still last up to 6 head shots from a heavy weapon, giving people atleast the idea they could fight back an out play it, rather then see a group run at them an go, yeah i can never fight that an if i dont run away now an clos every door i ever see behind me, im gonna die an lose everything before i even get to use any of it. Theres so many different things wrong with the game right now that ruin the experience for many people in many different ways that makes people lose interest. And i could list off atleast 20 just off the top of my head that ive seen countless people either quit over, rage over, or completely quit playing certain classes specifically over because theres some type of tactic or game mechanic that makes the class pointless to play. For example, you could be lvl 20, a barbarian, all legendary gear, and a lvl 1 rogue with a rapier and a small hand crossbow with double jump, is guaranteed to kill you uncontested, youll never even come SLIGHTLY close to ever even touching him let alone killing him. Youll never escape him, youll never hit him, once he sees you, you just die. Ive witnessed it, even backed into a corner in an unescapable room an position, boom just hops over their head an gone in the wind. You have to look at balancing in so many different ways, or the game will fall apart, an everyone will be forced to do the same strategies, no versatility, and some classes will just never be played again, or some people will just never play the game again. Over anything, the one thing people hate more then anything else, is people being one shot. Its completely unrewarding, no effort is put into it, and you feel like you just killed an npc. Pointless, boring, and unfulfilling. If you think there isnt enough time for all that fighting an one shots are necessary, all they have to do is extend how long it takes for the circle to close. Done and done. Everyone wins.
I think felling axe is the best weapon if the enemy team plan to actually head on fight you, but if they're running or kiting you out the horsemans axe is simply just better. nice video tho
felling axe is overrated imo give me a double axe and I can easily hit multiple enemies with one swing whilst keeping some range too, i mean, if you have a purple weapon of any kind it's gonna be strong and if you've ever had to use grey white or green felling axe then you know that it also has it's flaws
All weapon damage needs a PVP nerf, felling axe is fine its just time to death overall is too low, clerics need to be heal over time not instant. You conveniently forget that felling axe has the shortest range of any two handed weapon. Also stacking buffs on a single target should make the other buffs wear off faster, unless you have like very high will/knowledge.
@@yungdagga6683 They're trying to get the case in the US dismissed, but there are no concrete dates yet for when we can play again. The announcements channel in the official Dark and Darker discord is the best place to be notified when there is a date.
Nah felling axe is ok. You need to get in very close with it. Also you have to get headshots for it to matter. Hitting a buffed fighter in the chest is not gonna do anything. Just outplay it. I think you shouldn't be able to move at the same speed as someone running while punching.
The fights you provided for how “OP” the weapon is shows players trading when they shouldn’t or barbarians playing dumb. They know you have a felling axe, you can put dps them, but their weapon does more damage. So wiff punishing should’ve been the name of the game
You're playing against noobs with common gear, while you have a highly optimized rare build and are being healed and buffed. I'm sure there are many other builds that could perform just as well or better while being buffed and healed. This is like loading in to Tarkov with full t6, killing a bunch of scavs and guys with pistols and being like "look this gun is so OP im 1 tap headshotting everything."
I suppose that's true if you only watched the first 5 minutes of the video. You're certainly entitled to your own opinions though and I appreciate the comment either way.
remove 2/3 the damage? lmfao dumb it would be useless. it has dagger range lmfao. jus dont get close or get in damage before they reach n land ur headshots too lmfao
You're quite literally killing people in garbage gear, half of them dont even have a helmet. Id love to see u do this without all those cleric heals and buffs , against anyone with a brain or a longsword Rangers can do the same if not more damage with a longbow and they have triple shot and range
1. It's a team game 2. There are plenty of geared teams in this video 3. Here you go - grey felling axe solo pvp ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iswzUGWltt4.html
with the nerfs that just happened to rogue and fighter, barbarian is definitely back and now they're gonna have to take a look at felling axes lmao@@kballsforever
