Anyone who is continuing to defend Watson for that performance obviously hasn't watched the film. Time after time, there were multiple receivers open and he left clean pockets to try to run, or run into a sack. There were occasions when he seemed to be staring at a wide-open receiver (often Jeudy) and still he didn't throw it. Inexplicable.

💯 I still believe this is a good team that is unable to unite under the current circumstances. I think DW4 being out of the building would show a lot of those circumstances are gone.

I've been trying to say this since Sunday, Just two simple points: 1: Washington are good, particularly on offense. The secondary is dodgy, but otherwise they are good. Losing to them does not automatically mean you need to tank anymore, and if you come with anything other than your best you'll lose. 2: The only real problem the Browns have is at QB. Missed everything, plays scared, looks distracted and disinterested. An adequate QB there instead and this would probably have been a shootout.

Bottom line, DW is on our payroll for this season as well as the next two. That cap space limitation impedes our ability to improve the roster. If the coaches can "fix" DW, as in to be the QB that defeated the Ravins last year, then we can compete in this league. They are committed to fixing him, and that is what is tieing Stefanski's hand, not upper management. Look at all the other QB's around the league that were thought to be broke and are now performing well. Mayfield, Darnold, Goff, Smith, Jones, Cousins, Fields, and there are far more examples throughout the history of this league. I'm not saying DW can and will be fixed, I'm stating that is the only viable option for the next few years.

Correct, but the media is also at practice. Watson still QB1, Kevin still calling plays, offense is still the new Dorsey spread out air attack...nothing will change because the offense cannot be run correctly.

He's the QB and is playing at an inept level. That makes everyone else look bad too. And particularly the offensive line. The way you test this is not by whining and moaning about the o-line endlessly, but to simply put in a different QB so you can observe exactly which line issues persist and which are miraculously cured immediately. Put 'ol Crab Legs in there next week and I predict you'll beat the Eagles. That's how trash Watson is and how decent the rest of the roster is.

Again, please go watch the film for yourself. Several times, he tries to escape a clean pocket and runs into a sack. Many times he has wide open options AND a clean pocket, and instead looks to run and gets one or two yards instead of 10+ through the air. We're running an air-raid spread offense with a QB who's afraid/unable to throw the ball.

@@bigfootwalker5399 No. Former or misplaced HoF QBs do because they stop employing their offensive lines or aren't able to anymore #Eli Manning 2014+. That''s all they are: tools for the QB to use. Not scapegoats for his failure. Good QBs and competent coordinators can make it work behind any line of NFL-level players. Can't hold up for 3+ seconds? Throw the stupid ball in less than 3 seconds! And scheme it up so there are outs before 3 seconds! It's not rocket science. Every play is a puzzle for the QB to solve in 1.8-2.5 seconds. If he can't it's his fault. Bad QBs and fans of bad QBs use the line as a scapegoat. Now, for the run game you need good athletes on the line. But pass pro is mainly up the QB and the coordinator and you basically only need five traffic cones in front of you to be vaguely in the way. Sometimes all you need is a sidestep to keep a lineman between you and a rusher. And that lineman can't see you because his back is turned, and is therefore not in a position to make that adjustment. The QB is. Always.

@@TheDawgsPodcastno matter who the QB is the offense will be terrible until there is consistently effective line play, only then will there be a chance to see what the offense can be! I understand why Callahan left, but It hurt the Browns! Winston's a pocket passer, he would get killed behind this line!
