The real reason the The Flash "deserves" to end is because it's been running for almost a decade. Like no way they were going to keep signing the actors on and it was rumored that Grant Guston wanted to leave after season 6, but they kept convincing him to stay for one more year. Locking your acting career to one role for over a decade in your prime years is a tough ask, and it's not like the CW is a primetime channel that pays actors extremely well either. It's literally why Steven Amell left.
I agree, I feel like at a certain point a show is going to run out of way development they can give the characters so at that point you should end the show. The problem is the Flash reached that point like 2 seasons ago. This was also a good opportunity to talk about the problems that keep showing their ugly head with no sign of leaving
@@GIGio_Official I agree. The real issue is that other shows and their writers failed and flopped about as hard as they could. From the Crisis story line, when you see them lined up at the end, the Flash is the only one that still has a show. Batwoman bombed hard, Supergirl got so goofy, that it turned Lex Luthor into a Love sick simp and had Kara out herself as Supergirl, putting her family and cousin Clark in danger as a result. Black Lightining struggled to keep viewership mainly due to the writing(his wife really sucks). Legends was wacky and fun, but changed characters so many times that many fans found it hard to be invested into the show. So they tried to have this connected universe live on after the end of Arrow, but it literally imploded. That's why they kept dragging the Flash show along.

Black Lightning was not written well. I don't understand why we can't see a positive black family that is consistently together. And why was Gambi written in when he's not a comic character?
I love that someone else is sharing in my pain of this show.... I am convinced that Team Flash is now the villains of this show. They let the villains go often to create more havoc when they could catch them the first shot, and are cruel to members of their own team.

Candace ie (Iris) pretty much quit on the flash last season. She wanted more money and just left during filming and flow home with no one truly knowing whether this was her last season or even if she would finish that one. Danielle who plays Caitlin had her second child during that seasons filming as well side lining her and Allegra was horribly mis cast and everyone pretty much hates her( not the actress) . Jessie L Martin who stepped back from filming and moved on from the show leaving Chester and Cecil to fill in for Iris , Caitlin and Joe . That didn't help writers who are bad on a normal day to try and write a story around. They no longer have Cisco or wells to carry the episodes both good or bad and it shows with this remaining cast.
I always knew Cisco, Caitlin, wells and Ralph carried the show. Getting rid of all of them meant the sheep don't have anything to distract them from the other horrible side characters and writing being god awful.

The entire time sickness arc was based on the fact that Candace left the set during filming and issues around whether she wanted to continue the show. She even said in a interview that she just took the time off from the show and didn't attempt to pretend was a scheduled break. Alot of stuff happening around this show were covered on DJ arricks live streams with people who were on set at the time

To answer the title, I have a few quotes "We are the Flash." "Barry/Iris, you're my lightning rod." "Since when do we let people die?" Anything with Cecille narrating how someone else is clearly feeling. And anything with s5 Nora and Bart later on.
Lets not even talk about how in S2 Barry REFUSED to tell Patty even though she'd already figured it out and he seemingly loved her and now in later seasons if anyone has the slightest inkling of his identity he immediately whips off his mask especially for known CRIMINALS no questions asked no f**** given. Also the show seemingly forgot about the precautions Barry took to disguise his identity in S1 like vibrating his vocal cords or blurring his face because now he doesn't even care about people he sees every single day at the police station knowing his identity. He interacts with them seemingly daily as The Flash and Barry Allen and was some how surprised when Captain Kramer was able to come to the conclusion that he was The Flash yet he had put zero effort into during the bare minimum to protect his identity
It does hurt considering that the first 2 seasons of the show made me like the character and later got me interested in other media with him. Now The Flash is my favorite superhero, and I really hope they can do him justice in the movies. Even though the show went downhill, I hope Grant makes a cameo on the big screen.
There's something about this season that I need to go over and I'm surprised that you didn't pick up on it. Feel free to argue, but I would go far as to say that Caitlin's character has been obliterated throughout the course of the season. My first example is how she insisted on bringing Ronnie back to life in the Deathstorm arc. I know you said it was dumb of Barry to refuse her plea, but I find it distasteful that Caitlin only cared about helping Ronnie without thinking on whether it could possibly be a monster who's manipulating, just like Icicle back in season 5. May I mention that Deathstorm previously preyed on people's sadness with no signs of remorse, including Chester. However, the arc that truly breaks Caitlin's character is when Frost dies.....and Caitlin plans on bringing her back. I don't know about you, but this is not something I think she would ever do. What happened to grieving in a healthy way? Plus, she does this after she's proven wrong by Deathstorm and when Barry created Flashpoint, which guarantees her plan can go wrong. Not to mention she tempts Barry in bringing his parents back a super villain. Unless someone proves otherwise, this season utterly destroys Caitlin and I say this as someone who doesn't really care for the character that much. Side Note: I should mention a funny story about Cecile since you really dislike her. Turns out her actress was actually part of the cast for Lego Marvel Super Heroes from 9 years ago. She voiced Storm and Maria Hill. In my honest opinion.....she does a much better performance with those two characters from a game based on toys than in a live-action show like Flash. Although that isn't a deal breaking since Flash pretty much does poorly with how it treats the acting. Just thoughts I should mention that.

The problem is that with having Caitlin being so gung ho about reviving Ronnie the stupidity of this and how she is still help up about his sacrifice after 8 years of development and 2 several other relationship is massively overshadowed by barry being the biggest fucking hypocrite. But yes both is in the wrong and i probably should have focused on that more i was just completely baffled at Barry's actions
At this point, death in Dragon Ball sounds like it's more meaningful than it is on the Flash. At least the way people come back to life there was hard integrated into the series from the start instead of having to explain people being brought back with convoluted BS.
I wished you also spoke on how this man, Allen would constantly loose his powers during the half of each season while gaining a new ability from the end of a prior season.
i always hated the mid season barry loses his powers episode it was tiring and Barry always acted like that was it and he was never gonna be The Flash again but seemingly forgets the last 3 times he's lost them
Arrow (first few seasons) was the high point for superhero shows on CW imho, with Legends as a fun runnerup. The Flash had its good episodes (maybe even entire seasons), but it always bugged me how often Barry and the team will repeat mistakes and barely ever learn their lesson and saw this coming and frankly I’m shocked it didn’t happen sooner. Flash is one of my favorite heroes of all time but they never really did this well after season 1. They started too strong and really had nowhere to go after they settled everything with Eobard Thawne
I thought season 2 was almost as good as season 1, and I would have been fantastic had it ended after Flashpoint. Maybe resolve the Flashpoint paradox in a *Arrow* & *Legends of Tomorrow* ( *Supergirl* would be on another Earth and never come across the others in my mindcanon ) crossover or something? If it were up to me, with the power of hindsight and sh1t, *Arrow* would have ended after 5 seasons, same numbers of seasons that the numbers of years Oliver spent marooned (and travelling the world) Then *Legends* , it's more complicated, since the dip in quality wasn't as obvious as the others, but we're keeping season 1 (not the best, but we need it to explain the context) and then we have the solid seasons 2 & 3, and after that... find a way. Also have *Supergirl* end after season 4, the same year, when the end of that season kicked our asses thanks to Jon Cryer's amazing Lex Luthor

First season of "Jessica Jones" was good, solid adaptation of *Purple* (still missed Killgrave's purple skin, at least give his purple hair or something [or don't]) Arrow & The Flash season 1&2 are both really good superhero shows for their time, and both started to decline during 3rd season.

Gio you know Cecile can read minds and knows the context of there feelings and knows exactly what there thinking shown in season 4 countless times and she probably saw a picture of Ronnie. Also he was only telling Caitlin that he wanted to be saved and being saved he ment being killed so he can be saved from suffering and it was a trick to soooo. And plus he was trying to sound like he meant saved by saving him to put stuff in Caitlin’s head and then say other things that could mean he wants to die but knows Caitlin will see passed it because she loves Ronnie but team flash won’t because there just his friends so Deathstorm could manipulate Caitlin with her loving Ronnie and bring him to life so he could release hell and team flash sees passed it and tries to kill Ronnie cus that’s what they think he wants.

There giving a lot to Cecile because not a lot of people like her as a character so that’s why they are giving her a lil extra they want the characters to have = attention look at all the moments Barry has exactly how many moments does Cecile have the least out of all so there trying to give her a bit more love but still focusing on the story witch is a good move for the writers.

Honestly for the whole Ronnie grim fire thingy, they should have gone the route of Ronnie WANTING to die and insisting on it unlike Thawne who wanted to live and begged to be saved. That atleast would have given Barry's decision more nuance.
in somewhat defence of cecille taking the powers of vertigo and the mind reader that was explained as the sage force being behind that. then again that was so she could play a big role in bringing back the original forces after the negative ones had crippled them. so the writers while trying to justify it still did it for the purpose of her having special treatment and play almost as much of a role in fixing everything as Barry does. not sure what my point is other than i guess from a character point of view, at least that part of her stealing powers started off ok, it wasn't her just choosing to do it but then she's going out abusing her power and dressing in black, she uses it to stop a mugger(?) but seems to take special joy in it. felt like it was the start of a villain arc for her but then they dropped it? also cecille is inconsistent on what she feels is ok about using her power (the base one of reading emotions). in at least one episode last season she said something like "its not right for me to read a client's guilt" even though her doing that was the start of Allegra's time on the show and her getting a job with Iris.

the worst part is that Iris "I'm a survivor" thing, that I can call "dramatic characteristic" can work when done right, like thor in god of war ragnarok calling himself and kratos "destroyers" nad my mine example, Guts from berserk, who is also a "survivor" and/or a "persevering" because he has many moments where he seeks death and deaths comes to him, but at those moment he fights back and wins, but the difference is the means, Guts knows how to fight, meaning a way to fight death, Iris doesn't have a way to avoid death so many times, besides luck or another caracteres actions, it's not like she gets badly wounded and she pushes through it by share fucking will, and this is because the writers threat her dramatic characteristic more like a "rule of character", because for the writers Iris can not die by any means
How Iris can call herself a survivor when she only survives by lucky last minute saves from Barry and wouldn't know how to survive on her own is beyond me.

Characters of color are usually just as capable as the heroes and don't need saving, even when they're civilians, or they are overcompensating and become THE MOST O.P characters like Storm

Sounds like they could have stood for not doing the most predictable plot twist ever. I have only seen the first two seasons of this show and my DC knowledge is extremely limited but when I saw that floating skull the first thought I had was "oh hey it's deathstorm"
Like i figured it would happen but i don't like using my outside knowledge of other media like comic when breaking down these shows. But if the arc had more episodes it could use that time to trick the audience that this is still Ronnie.
Barry and Iris's "chemistry" in this show reminds me Of Amber and Mark's Toxic Relationship from the show Invincible it gave me those types of Vibes Where Amber already Knowing Mark that he's a super hero risking his life to save others including hers but still being bratty about it as with iris in season 4 as an example she gets mad at Barry for "leaving her" when he had no choice! If he did Everyone would've died it was so dumb! The flash on the CW now Is Just filled with Hypocrisy and inconsistent writing And it just feels too jarring in some areas and the casting is Way too Overcrowded even if it dialed down a bit it feels that way

I'm calling it now, of those 13 episodes, be prepare for an episode dedicated to Allegra. Another to Barry's kids. The show has so many characters, that The Flash gets sideline. In his own show. They can't leave him alone. All these shows, they gotta have a whole team. Is Team Arrow, Team Flash, Team Supergirl, Team Black Lightning, Team Batwoman. And now Superman & Lois. They are doing the same thing that Black Lightning did. They gave him 2 kids instead of one like in the comics. Just like Oliver Queen, just like Barry Allen and Jefferson Pierce. And just like Black Lightning, we spend more time with his kids in high school doing the typical CW teen drama instead of spending time with Superman. The Flash should've ended a long time ago.

I wish I was in your footsteps. I just got back into watching this show by watching season six on Netflix, months ago. And....I can see why so many people are now checking out of this show since God knows when. All I can say is...just stick with seasons one, two and maybe three of the Flash. But forget about the rest of the following seasons.
@@xgray2012 Yeah I'd pretty much agree with all of that. If a person watches to season 3 and sees Barry sacrifice to enter the speed force and save things, that's a decent hero's ending for him and anything we could want.
Bro I checked out the Flash at the season 4 premiere. The pacing of the premiere was enough for me, the team struggled to function with out Barry, they got him out the speed force, he lost his sanity, Iris was moping, got herself caught by the episodes villain, Barry quickly regained his sanity, saved Iris, stop the bad guy all in one episode. I was done right then and there.

She'd been getting more and more insufferable as she went along and as soon as she was given powers I knew it was over - her being the team leader at this point was nauseating enough but that was it. Any of Barry's love interests that werent iris seemed to have infinitely more chemistry with him. Every other love interest Barry shows he cares in ways that arent blatantly saying it and shoving it in the audiences face every two seconds. Theres zero nuance and any lovey dovey scene with Iris and Barry in it is just them talking about how much they love each other. I honestly don't get why Grant was so ready to fast-track the Iris relationship when in the comics Patty was literally the Flashes first wife on top of him and Iris not even being together most of the time with Barry having multiple children from the future that arent Irises.Throughout the show Barry and Irises relationship is herendously toxic. Every time something remotely unfortunate happens to them Iris is the first one to blame Barry. She gets mad at Barry for leaving to save the universe then also gets mad at him for making their wedding easier by using his powers to literally speed up the process 10 fold. On top of that refuses to believe Barry when he says there's something wrong with the timeline. Earlier on during the beginning of S2 she was mad at Barry for keeping the secret of The Flash from her and seemingly only forgives him when she can use it to her advantage.

I'm going to be honest; I stopped watching Flash after the Savitar stuff but watching Madvocate's videos I really do think that this series wasn't as good as I thought it was. Keep in mind, I do love Flash in the comics and reading Johns and Mark Waid's work made me appreciate the character, especially Wally West(NOT Wallace West) who I adored in Justice League Unlimited. That said, I do agree that the CW/Arrowverse needed to go. It was running on fumes and let's be realy; it was a byproduct of DC not being able to get its shared cinematic universe together. Plus, I'm going to be upfront; I'm getting sick and tired on bad superhero media. The flash is a microcosm of everything wrong with the CB media bubble we are in. More specifically, writers not understanding the material and not valuing internal consistency with characters, story and world. All in all, my hope is that the Flash one day can get a good adaptation outside the 90s series in the hands of a writer who can handle the task of writing a character with super speed, a very trick superpower that requires some clear cut limitations. Because as Brandon Sanderson famously stated about magic systems "Limitations are more interesting/important than Capabilities.". And you want a good example of this? Look at Lelouch from Code Geass. His Geass of taking control of people is a really powerful ability, until you realize how many limitations it has. Thus, the charm of Code Geass is seeing Lelouch using his intellect and overcoming the shortcomings of his power. Do better, writers.
If I may, I don't think Barry was being the dumbest man alive in seasons 1 and 2 like everyone said. If there really is a problem with the earlier seasons, I think it's not doing good with the villains in terms of power levels. I already heard the "Barry lost to a guy with a gun" joke a lot. I should mention that in the comics, Captain Cold's gun had a cold field or something that slowed down the air around Barry, making it easier for Snart to shoot him. Now I do have a theory that's been adapted onto the show as well. But with that said, I do admit the show never clearly established that. Point is if seasons 1 and 2 really aren't good, it's the villains' power levels that are the problem. Not how Barry keeps losing. Plus, I think the thing with Barry's speed being inconsistent has happened in other popular DC stuff, like Injustice: Gods Among Us. Heck, this might've even happened with Superman's power level in S: TAS.
Madvocate's videos are entertaining and I've had fun watching and rewatching them... but they're like Cinemasins, just taking the piss out of a show/movie by nitpicking random details. They're not that deep.

I do agree with you. While season 1 and 2 may have consistencly problems . The characters are for most part very well written and really carry the show. The problem is overtime writers stopped focusing on developing the characters. The Arrowverse was a fun ride, but it has felt empty for a while. Id rather have a good superhero show that stands on its own, then a mediocre show that tries to connect to a broader universe.

I said that if I were at some point to agree that seasons 1 and 2 aren't good, it's that the villains might be too weak in terms of power. Not because Barry is dumb. I mean villains like Weather Wizard and (as I mentioned) Captain Cold have been popular Flash villains for decades in stuff like tv and comics. I doubt they would be popular if they weren't good foes for someone like The Flash. If there are massive issues with seasons 1 and 2, it might be because their power levels aren't accurately presented on screen. Point is if The Flash is facing someone that he can't take out in seconds, him stopping for one-liners wouldn't be a problem. Also, I need to ask something. If Barry creating Flashpoint in season 3 a problem.....does that mean that the popular 2011 comic series, Flashpoint is bad?

What they did with Lois Lane on Superman & Lois is what they should've been doing with Iris from the start. Have her on reporter subplots that later tie in with the main villain.
Let's be real, Lois was also a damsel throughout her previous showing in the animated shows and live action series. Superman and Lois is like the 8th reincarnation so they had decades to improve her characters. Iris West is Lois "lite". We shall see what she becomes upon her reincarnations in other Flash projects

I’m sad about the direction the show went, and the state of it. There are moments that are redeemable but other moments that are upsetting to watch. I really liked season 4 and has my favorite episode of the series, Flashtime. I feel like s5 was the start of the end for it. But that’s just me.
I love the show but these last few seasons have been rough. Chester and Allegra needed to go a long time ago. We waste so much time with their subplots. Don’t even get me started on Allegra episode where Iris gave her a story to do, she wanted to do her own thing and was gladly patting herself on the back about it…then when Iris confronts her about it, she still lets Allegra do the story! Totally agree about death being meaningless. I did love Mena, though but she should’ve totally had more development.
So I agree with everything you said, the only saving grace I can say for the rushed arcs is that the cancellation of the show probably came faster than the writers thought. (Even tho it was inevitable and clear that it's coming soon, if not, the fact that Grant Gustin wanted to leave in season 6 should have been a clear indicator) So they had to change to the multi-arc format and rush them so that they can tell the stories they want to, even if it lowers the quality of the show. They probably had a bunch of ideas left since there are way more comics to pull inspiration from and since now they know it'll end no matter what they do and they still get paid, it doesn't really matter for them anymore, so they smushed anything they can into the limited time they have. For the very least I hope they can do a better job for the finale, so they can end on a mediocre note.
Same, even though they did bring him back through the character of Jay Garrick, it worked back in the day, but because now we see so many doppelgangers it really dampens his impact. Even then that means we haven't gotten a real death since season 2.
One of the reasons it felt so rushed was because it was originally supposed to be the series finale but then they got renewed either a little before or during filming so they had to quickly change the script so everything still had something that lead into next season since it was originally supposed end right there but was changed last minute
Was Barry creating Gideon ever explained because I was struggling to watch it just for it to be explained n I never got it and how did reverse flash get a hold of it before Barry knew it exsisted I NEED ANSWERS!!
First of all it didn't get cancelled it is getting to end on its own terms with a final season if it was cancelled they could have cancelled after season 8 as it was originally written as the final season but the actors and everyone agreed for a 9th season so they got another season
I know, but cancelled is a much better title. Either way the show is ending and this video addresses many of the problem that the show has repeatedly have made.
@@GIGio_Official sure as a youtuber myself I get it but will you say that iron man died the iron man project was cancelled by marvel so that it looks good for a video or captain America was cancelled so he went back in time and stayed there. These are just the things used for showing a particular person's hatred toward a particular thing I would rather talk the same facts like you but tell people that it got to end on its own terms so that people who don't know it about it not getting cancelled gets to know the truth. My schedule for the negative arc is still kind of short but I think could work: Episode 1-Barry and the team learn about Meena and try to track her down and Barry meets her and she joins the team at the end. Episode 2-Barry goes to the lab and learns about how Meena got her powers and learn a bit more about her character and then Eobard gets introduced at the very end. Episode 3-Barry learns how Eobard is alive and learns that he sacrificed his chance at speed to save Meena and Barry sees Eobard as a different person than Thawne and trusts him and even finds a way to recharge the machine and give Eobard speed. Episode 4-Barry trains Meena and Eobard before the negative forces kill Thawne and make themselves known, explain their plan, how they exist, yada yada yada before "killing" Iris and reviving Thawne using Eobard. Finally episode 5-Barry tries to hold off the powered up Thawne while the rest of team flash try to rescue Basheer, Alexa, and Dion while also trying to get Iris back. Then after all that is finished the forces all band together with Barry to overload Thawne and kill him. And if you want you could totally add in and episode or 2 to flesh out Meena and Eobard a bit more maybe even foreshadow the imbalance with the forces earthquakes, time anomalies, storms that sorta thing. At least that how I would've done it 😅
I feel like the best way for a show with time travel to end is to go back to the beginning, to wrap everything up, say what you want but I think the best way for the flash is end is for Barry to fight Thawne and disappear is flash of light, for flash to go back in time to stop Thawne and save his younger self, therefore starting season 1
Finally someone says it! They have been using the Reverse Flash as a crutch ever since season 4 and it was actually starting to piss me off a lot because they started to shove him into places where he wasn't needed and it didn't make any sense. Take Crisis on earth x for example. For that cross over between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC ledgends of Tomorrow, we had them going up against Nazis from another earth while sounds really cool. Now of course since they are from another earth they're gonna gave doppelgangers right? The people that would be the main villains for the cross over. For the villains we got Black Arrow AKA Oliver Queen Overgirl AKA Kara Danvers and Reverse Flash AKA Eobard Thawne. Why the did you give us Reverse Flash when we all know that there was an evil Nazi version of Barry called Blitzkrieg that you could have used. Now a lot of people kept telling me that they just got done with an evil Barry last season and didn't wanna go that route do quickly but that didn't stop them from shoving Thawne into every single season they can create. And when we finally expect him to be in a cross over we were all looking forward to; which was Crisis on Infinite Earths they tease that Thawne is gonna be in the cross over by having him say "see you in your next crisis" and we get Lex Luthor instead. Like come on! I know that the Reverse Flash is The Flash's biggest nemesis and all but he had other villains too! What happened to the Rogues or Gorilla Grodd?! The worst part about them including Reverse Flash in Crisis on Earth x is that they never even explained how he's alive and why he has Harrison Wells face and why he's working with the New Reichsmen (yes that is what the Nazi group is called) they just gave some stupid explanation about time travel that didn't answer the viewers question and left everyone really confused Barry: Thawne... Thawne: Direct, from earth one. You like my face? Barry: it's the same face you wore when I became the Flash Thawne: oh I thought I put it on again, you know, for old times sake. Plus, handsome! Barry: How you alive? I watch you die. Thawne: Time travel Barry. Very confusing. I always seem to be telling you that, don't I? That literally explained nothing on how Thawne was back and why he's working with the Reich. Also, why do they keep using Tom Cavanagh to play Eobard Thawne when it should be Matt Letchster playing him from season 2 onwards unless they are doing an episode where there's time travel involved where it goes back to season one or a flash back that shows Tom Cavanagh. Honestly... I know this is long and all but I just wanted to get this out there.
One question for the writers did Ceciles baby go we haven’t seen her since season 5 and joe hasn’t seen her ether so maybe Cecile does not let joe go into the baby room because secretly she died but joe doesn’t know cause he’s not allowed into the room.
Have to respond to this topic. The reason I watched the show was because of Danielle Panabaker. She is an awesome Actress & did a good job playing Frost on the show. Could care less about the other people on the show HELL, The Flash is not even my favorite Superhero to began with. The Flash on this show was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. I’d also wasn’t a fan of the WestAllen pairing cause they have NO CHEMISTRY on that show but the WestAllen trolls & that out of touch Showrunner Eric Wallace don’t see it that way & those two things are half the reason the show is done. The other half is due to the changes in the CW Network. Candice is also a shady person in real life cause she has done some Questionable things & she also did a podcast on the Adversary she had to deal with on the show but she didn’t do any favors doing that. Still don’t understand why Eric didn’t ask about this stuff while he Fired the Actor that played Ralph over past Tweets. This show needed to be done in my eyes & In my eyes, I’d blame The WestAllen Trolls & Eric Wallace for the show being done & also despite Eric for not getting what The true Flash Fans on what we want. Eric is a coward for not looking at his Twitter Account most of the time. He’s not on there all the time & even if he or the writers did, our ideas don’t get listened too & then sometimes we get Blocked because of it. Talk about egotistical!!! What I want to see in Season 9 is Iris dead sometime this season & Barry finally gets together with Caitlin. That’s right, I’m a Snowbarry fan & they have way Better Chemistry than Barry has with Iris but pretty sure that’s not going to happen due to Eric being BLIND seeing that. Instead she’s going to date that A*****E Chillbane who is a no good SOB.
Just want to ask about the part where you said Wallace doesn’t listen on Twitter. Were any of the fans who spoke up to him happen to be toxic or harassing people by spamming or anything like that? I’m not defending Wallace or anything since I also despise the show. I’m trying to make sure our complaints are justified.
