To address the environmental issue, Apple could have just included a coupon in the box to pick up a free or discounted charging block at an Apple Store for those who needed one.
Arun's video highlights an issue but doesn't actually provide the full picture, and the solutions he provides are not substantial at all. I personally agree with his points, but they are very surface level.
@@sidma5661 even official Apple products' packaging aren't all recyclable. The box may be recyclable, but the plastic may not. If it is a PVC shell, then it cannot be recycled. If it is the softer thin plastic that is easily scrunched up, it can be recycled but only at specific facilities (not with your other plastic bottles and stuff).
That's a good thing, isn't it? I personally only need the phone I buy, I don't need it to be included in a box with a bunch of accesories I'll never use since I have dozens of them already.
And yet it comes with a USB C to lightning cable that doesn't support the USB A charging block most people already have. So much for preventing environmental waste
Apple: "We care about the environment and the billions of cables and chargers out there." Also Apple: "Everything is USB-C now so you're gonna have to replace that cable and charger you already have."
I totally agree with you! This decision made by apple helped them profit but was more harmful for the environment because of more packaging material being wasted.
If money was their only goal, then they would charge more for their Red colored products. Yet, they charge the exact same for their Red products but still donate a significant chunk of their revenue to combat Covid and help breast cancer.
I wanted to throw in my opinion on this topic real quick. I personally feel that having a charger should've been a choice for the consumer, not from Apple. For example, if someone buys the new iPhone 12 and they need a charging brick, I feel that they should get it with no additional cost if they desire it. However, for those who don't need it, will just get the phone without a charger. (Xiaomi did this with their recent model phone and I thought personally it was a good idea)
people like free stuff, everyone would be getting it lol. But if one has to pay for it, they would think twice before throwing away an old one or let it rot on a shelf.
The iPhone 11 Pro had the best accessories bundle (Lightning headset, fast 18W charging adapter and USB C to Lightning cable included), if you switched to a 12 series from that model you would be covered, but if you upgraded from an older model you were SOL and had to pay the “Apple Tax” for OEM or MFi accessories. Sadly the “regular” 11 still also had the old “slow” 5W charger and USB A cable.
I actually got a new iPhone and boy it’s a pain when I want to charge my phone, but gladly my dad used to own a iPhone before which came with a charging brick and now I can use it for my phone.
The videos are on point, simple and short. Extremely fun to watch. Love the channel. Watching you for over 2 years now(with another account) and I love it. Great work❤️
No. I don’t think they cut prices by not including the brick. I bought my iPhone SE 2nd gen with the charger brick. And the price is still the same as the versions shipped out without the bricks a few months later.
Just found out after making the purchase of an iPhone 15 today this is just a way for them to make more profit . I am aggravated I didn’t have one and had to go back out and buy one .
When Apple introduced the iPod USB charger, the FireWire charger and 30 pin to FireWire cable was removed from the iPod Classic box, instead Apple gave you a 30 pin to USB cable, and the box shrunk. Did you all forgot about that?
Make a video on why are they still including the charging block with the iPad, but not the iPhone? Overall, I could just go out and buy a new iPad and I could get a free power adapter with it. Or I could buy HomePod mini and I could get the power adapter for free
@@Tom_Stevens617 the S10 came with a USB Type-A brick for example (2019) it's not uncommon not to have a USB Type-C brick (if you have bought it separately it doesn't count obviously)
@@HeketorML Why does it not count though? USB-C is the universal standard rn. It's very rare to see someone not have something as simple and cheap as a USB-C PD adapter at their own home.
@@Tom_Stevens617 because Apple was talking about an accumulation of power bricks, and you accumulate what is given for free in the box (like the apple stickers); so what people have been accumulating are Type-A bricks. We only had one or two years in which Type-C bricks were included, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of people who end up with a new phone with lightning to USB-c (or USB-c to USB-c) cable but not a brick, continue using their old chargers so they don't have to buy a new one (not bc of the price, but laziness)
@@HeketorML Eh, I don't know about that. Pretty much every iPhone 8/X/XS/XR/11 user I know bought a USB-C charger along with their new phone. I'm not sure how laziness factors in here. If you're buying a $700-1100 phone which supports fast charging with a $20 USB-C adapter, just get that too if you're buying it from a store. And if you're ordering it online, add the adapter to your cart. I personally have a couple USB-C outlets built into switchboards around my house, so I don't even need an adapter.
I need to ask a question that is not related to the iPhone video. The question is this: how long will Apple support intel based Macs, MacBook Pro, and iPad's? I am very curious because my Apple Macs are 5+ years old.
I can remember when Samsung mocked Apple for removing the charging brick back in October last year by a post in social medias, then they removed the power brick and earphones from the box at the announcement and launch of S21, which that time they deleted the post.
If apple really cared, they'd ship GaN chargers in the box that use USB-C for the next 2-3 generations to get good quality fast chargers out among the user base, and switch their iphone connector to USB-C, but instead, they ship the iphone with a cable that is incompatible with their users' existing charger (cables need a durability upgrade too), forcing people to go out and buy a USB-C fast charging brick for more money, and uses more packaging as well..
So, I just got my 2021 11" iPad Pro; why does it have a charging block then? I already have about 12! This should be able to be specified when ordered so one can get one if needed but not if one already has many! Less e-waste, please!
Hmmmm…? Doesn’t it come with a packaging when we buy a separate charging block? I’ve thought it was a stupid excuse the first time i heard it and i still do
This is not their final form, next iOs update "using unauthorized apple charger makes your iPhone cannot be charged", so you need buy $ 99.90 5 watt apple official charger, while 25 watt fast charging brick cost $ 299.90, so you can't just use old iPhone charger or any USB charger from android phones to your iPhone. They just said some BS like "many iPhone exploded because user are using cheap charger hurr...... durr.... so we modified your iPhone SAFETY STANDARD by only accepting OFFICIAL / AUTHORIZED Apple Charger *F O R Y O U R O W N S A F E T Y* "
while I agree on environmental issues... and maybe the charging brick.... they keep changing things so you have to buy new components. Also that thick cardboard box uses loads more resources than regular cardboard. and the ear pieces keep breaking down. common if you really cared about the environment, you would make things last. lastly, it would fit in the box btw
Brazilian court said to Apple you can’t force customer to buy accessories separately and asked where your environment strategy goes when you sell those accessories separately with packages 📦 .
How apple fits 70% more boxes on the pallet if they put original box in cardboard tray to protect it in shipping. Also this cardboard tray is bigger than iPhone 11 box.
They could have charged 1020 for the phone and include the charger. This would be a guarantee sale of a charger for every phone. I prefer the flexibility since I use wireless charging only.
Lets be honest. They just do it to get you to spend $20 on one of those fucking special usb charging brick. The only reason my had happened to already have one is because his essential phone, the phone he had before, ACTUALLY FUCKING CAME WITH ONE IN THE DAMN BOX. If it weren’t for the money then they would use regular chargers with a usb on the end since everyone on this planet and their grandma has at least 10 charging bricks already, but they specifically made it a charger that almost no one will have and have to buy
If Apple stopped selling chargers all together the argument for the environment would be more believable since there are so many chargers already out there. Even their Magsafe and Magsafe Duo don't include chargers and have to be sold separately.
I think they could have made a box with the charger and ones without the charger at the same price then the consumer could consider if it was best for the environment.
@@BigSexiMan ok bc i just bought a 3 pack of USB A iphone chargers where can i buy the USB C ones? bc ik they will break after awhile i have 2 right now brand new
I mean that’s why they’re worth 2 trillion$ that’s what every profitable company does finding ways to get the manufacturing cheaper while making costumers pay more
Thats what i think. They should have given people that dont want a charging brick money off. But still wouldn't make sense because nobody would have had a usb brick so you have to buy one anyway
or....how about giving the fucking brick which costs them 2$ to make instead of lying about saving the environment all while packaging it in a separate box that requires additional manufacturing, logistics and makes the environment suffer more. Apple are full of shit since Steve died
@@KaranYadav-kc1or no it’s because the fast charger needs usbc to work. The 11 pro was first to include usbc cable. Apple expects people to go buy their $30 usb c charger that they previously included with 11 pro.
They'll soon I hope I believe after redesigning ipad air, they included USB-C, and then redesigning ipad mini 6, USB-C is coming. Then the cheapest ipad 9 or 10, will get USB-C, Similarly I hope they bring for Iphones
@@hareeshkrishnaa5642 all signs point to a portliness iPhone using some version of Mac mag safe or just completely wireless charging. that is their end game in next few years. to be like the Apple Watch, completely sealed. why would they move iPhone to usbc and piss off hundreds of millions of their customers just to get rid of the port next year. iPads however, don't have wireless charging.

he kinda did , he did not metion that they can make extra profit and actually causes more damage if you dont include a charger as there is a seprate box for it , if u buy one , so he kinds doing a little defende
@@Anonymous-tu4pl No, it really wasn't. He was primarily relying on the hypothesis that most people would sell their old phone when buying their new one, and consequently would also have to give away their charger with their old phone. This theory is easily debunked, because most people will actually trade in their last phone with the company for a much better discount on their new phone, and you don't have to give away your charger when doing trade-ins. Also, he still thinks people want to use wired headphones with their phone. Only audiophiles will be buying wired headphones to use with their phone. The only other people who need wired headphones are video editors and music editors, but their workflow uses computers, not phones. The average consumer finds wireless earbuds to be much more convenient and comfortable to use than wired headphones.

@@Tom_Stevens617 and by significant chunk you mean one percent? which incentivizes more customers to buy their product. if they really wanted to charity they wouldn't need to tell you about it.
@@akilreid2235 1%? Lol, Apple's been donating 100% of their profits made on Red products for the past several months. And I'll tell you a fact rn, buddy. Telling people you did charity actually inspires other people to do charity too.
At first I disliked the video because he said that they're doing it for the environment. But, soon after he said that Apple was doing this for the money, I gave it a like.
