I thought along the same lines as well Union, as it seems that the Jedi thought very similarly. And that ties in very nicely to Sifo-Dyas' concerns that we see from the novel Darth Plagueis, wherein Sifo-Dyas saw dark times ahead but there being no army to defend the Republic, thus making the Clone Army necessary. Obi-wan Kenobi wore Full clone armor at the battle of Muunilinst in the orginal 2003 clone wars miniseries, and many jedi wore partial clone armor in the later series of the same name
What I can't wrap my mind around is why they wore armor during the 2 miniseries' but back to robes in Revenge of the Sith. I get that the war was pretty much over by then, but it was actually still very much going on. And the old TCW leads right up to ROTS.
+Garrett Drudik (gmansmith10) episode 3 seemed usualy to be where there not on a battlefield. in the series there on the battlefield for months at a time.
For Obi-Wan and Anakin, not really so much need. But parts like Ki-Adi-Mundi's battle on Mygeeto would only have benefited from the armor, though it was only seconds long.
Why did the Jedi stop marrying and producing their own children; as well as taking children from their families for training. Why did they start the whole 'no attachment' deal? Why did they discourage their members from marrying, and what if a family doesn't want to give up their child? Would they take the child anyway?
Attachment as Master Yoda said can lead to many darker emotions.. such as jealous, fear, anguish and even hatred. Just being force sensitive is seen abs consent by the being to be trained and just because two force sensitives produce children does not assure the offspring will be. For example two jedi wed and produce three offspring, two force sensitive and one...think of potential hatred that child could grow to harbor for their family.

By the time of the Clone Wars, Jedi were revered as galactic heroes with great power and morals. It was part of Republic culture to allow Jedi to take children for training as a Jedi, particularly on worlds in which Jedi played a major role, or performed heroic acts. In the Clone Wars tv series, there was a family that was more than happy to give their child to the Order and talked about how they felt this was the best for the child. The child would grow up into a mature, responsible citizen that actively does good. very few people turn a Jedi away, as they believe that not surrendering their child would be considered selfish considering all the good they would do. As or the marriage question, I believe it was a question of loyalty. The Jedi's ultimate loyalty was to the "Greater Good" by being the means of bringing peace and justice to all people. When a Jedi marries, they change their loyalties from the Greater Good to spouse, and offspring. not to mention that sometimes, (though rare) a spouse could lead that Jedi to the Dark Side by having selfish views. Lets say a stalwart Jedi marries a person that believes that Jedi should be a militant force that basically kills people who do not conform to Galactic norms. their perceptions could be changed from outside influence. Its similar to how Catholicism forbids Priests to marry.

You're right he didn't mention that did he? I was thinking about it during the video and maybe it represented the Jedi returning to the militaristic form by becoming generals and commanders which was eventually a downfall of the order. idk thats just my thoughts.
+ATLIS - Solis Music The downfall of the order was mostly complacency. They believed the sith had been wiped out and forgot the reason of their partial victory in the first place. They only began to re militarize when it was too late. Although they had begun to win in the clone wars sith sympathizers had infiltrated too much of the senate and the order. They were a thousand years too late.
I don't know for sure, but Obi-Wan was always fore-seeing. He tried to be as resourceful as he could be, minimalize waste and be ready for everything. I think it's because of Darth Maul. Out of all the Jedi Masters, Obi-Wan doesn't seem to hold anyone as highly - not disrespectful - as he did with his master and Yoda. Seeing his master whom was a Grey Jedi and pretty op even in the Council, dead, I think he became a bit paranoic. Maybe he started thinking: If I was a little faster, better. If only we would've been a bit more ready. Out of all the characters in Clone Wars, he seems to be the most serious and thinking of the war. He says things like: The damage done to the farms will soon reach even the wealthiest, The people paid the price for what they didn't want, and etz. Like he is thinking not just what is now, but what will be after the war.

The death of the bouncer La was Darth Zannah's (then called Rain) first step towards the dark side. She was very angry at the two jedi that killed the bouncer and so she destroyed them with her mind using the force. Which impressed Darth Bane and cause him to take her on as his apprentice.
I remember reading that and thinking that it was a pretty cool introduction to Darth Zannah (then Rain). Darth Bane probably made the right choice for his apprentice after that.

the way i see it, if you have a weapon like a lightsaber that could cut through almost anything, why waste time on armor that would just slow your down and offer no gain in battle?
Light Sabers can cut through almost anything but for those rare occasions were there exist more than almost anything such as in the case of those individuals who use Mandalorian Iron, Song Steel, Neuranium, Ultrachrome, Phrik, and the most common of them all Cortosis used by Darth Vader and the Inquisitors. In Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal Sabine Wren is hit with 4 direct blaster bolts that would have killed a person not wearing Durasteel Mandalorian armor, so armor does do "jack shit". If they are Jedi they can deflect most blaster bolts they see coming, if they did not expect to be shot at, some times Jedi can be caught off guard like what happened to Aayla Secura with her clone troopers. Then there is the situation were the Jedi is completely surrounded and is not fast enough to block every blaster bolt fired at him or her. There has been on some rare occasions in which a blasterfighter is skilled enough to out do or over load a Jedi's enhanced reflexes Cad Bane has managed this more than once.
and don't forgot a wound vs a kill. even basic clone armor could probably turn a death shot into a dangerous one. and a dangerous one less so. it's the same principle we use in the real world with body armor.

Am I the only one who thinks it makes very little sense for Clone Wars Jedi not to wear armor on their torsos? I can't remember ever seeing a Jedi with chest armor; yet, most people (especially in a universe with excellent prosthetic limbs) would be more worried about taking shrapnel in the chest rather than in the arms or legs. I like to think that, if I were in that situation, I would wear a full set of armor. It just seems more sensible since your not exactly going to be able to deflect every single blaster bolt or piece of shrapnel that flies your way.

This was one of the things I really appreciate in the Red Letter Media review: I never thought Jedi wore the hermit robes Obi Wan was wearing. Making that the official garb of Jedi seemed lazy even to my younger self. My vision of Jedi before the NT was space knights, not orange salesmen.
Another reason for their discarding of armor may have had to do with the blatant lack of protection afforded against blasters, lightsabers and explosives. Basically everything, really.
There are different grades of metal/ ceramic armor that can be used in infrantry personal armor. In the Roll playing Games " R.P.G." it is called Item Hardness and Damage Wound points, = giga jules of impact pressure. Lots of neat picking, debating, and arguements. but hear is the basic of it. Most armor only stops Glacing Hits and not Direct Hits. If the armor could stop a Soild direct hit, there no way it will be able to stop rapid fire in the same 4 square inch location. Your armor may stop a stander 0.5kilogram granade if you have full body protection, but it will not stop a 2kilogram/ 4 lb pine apple.
It wasn't the Jedi's smartest moment when they stopped wearing Battle Armour. I mean The Sith had been defeated before and they had returned before like after The Great Hyperspace War, The Jedi assumed The Sith had been wiped out but thousands of years later they were rediscovered by Revan and Malak and Centuries later The Great Galactic War happened and look what that did to the Republic, It forced them into The Cold War with The Sith Empire. It was a foolish move if you asked me, they pretty much assumed the Sith were extinct and set themselves up for defeat if you ask me.
Their other big mistake was allowing a political office to have influence over them. Surely someone at the reform would have seen how badly that could go! The Jedi were more powerful, and better off, when they were individual councils which met now and again to discuss bigger issues.

Well, didn't Obi-Wan wear armor sometimes in the Clone Wars show? Also: Wasn't it up the the individual what they wear? I mean Anakin wore black robes and Ahsoka Tano and Aayla Secura didn't wear robes at all normally! ps: I wouldn't go without armor - not for blaster bolts (that's what you have a lightsaber and force-absord for (what Vader used against Han Solo's blaster shots in "The Empire Strikes Back")), but in order not to be cut to pieces...Cortosis is great against lightsabers after all :)
I think that some of them wear armor because they know they need some, but they don't wear full body armor, because they know that would slow them down and ruin their agility.
Because Disney cannon isn't cannon. That's why I watch your stuff. There is a big flaw in this though. Not every Jedi of that age could have been "ok" with giving up their armor, and foregoing any military endeavors. No matter the principle, no matter the creed, no people are that united. Especially since the Jedi expanded considerably on recruitment efforts during the Sith wars. I would find it hard to believe they only chose children and trained them from a young age. That would be impractical if you needed a fighting force soon and ample fresh bodies.
Even the reformed Sith swapped armour for cloaks (I think Darth Plagueis says something along those lines to Darth Sidious). I would have liked to have seen Anakin wearing armour similar to Darth Vader's suit in revenge of the Sith. Black Jedi tunic similar to Luke's from ROTJ but with the Darth chest piece, black gauntlets and the black cloak (at least that's how I envision him in an alternative Episode III) If it's any consolation my non-canon friend, I too have lost one of my all time favourite characters to this new canon: Darth Krayt. May the Dark Lord rule over the lesser beings in Chaos until the day he defies all canon and resurrects himself once again

in all of the star wars movies armor dos not do shit...... battledriods are cut to scraps by lightsabers and stormtroopers go down when hit once despite wearing armor.... to that we can add that jedies can parry shots fired at them with ease with their lightsabers....so why would they wear some armor instead of nice robes??

It is actually quite puzzling why nothing seems to be made from light saber resistant materials in the movies even though there are many materials like that in the universe, i mean not even villains that expect to fight Jedis never use any.
Because the original trilogy films were made before the then-nonexistent expanded universe ever invented lightsaber resistant materials. The prequels did it because they were crap.
I felt the reason they stopped wearing their armor was to appear peaceful and less intimidating. Even if Jedi armour didn't have spikes or jagged points to it, ithe armour may still freighten sum of the people they try to help. Then you may have sum people think of a Jedi wearing battle armour as a contradiction to them being keepers of the peace.
I think you make a great point LA. The switch away from battle armor was definitely a representation of their overall shift in philosophy for sure. The fact that they thought the Sith were destroyed really contributed to them making some bad decisions. But like you said, changing to the role of peacekeepers made it very difficult to still wear the battle armor. Thank you for the support LA, I hope you enjoy the future videos as well.

Lucifers Apprentice that's why the Jedi were so weak. They gave up any power they originally had. So many Jedi were killed because all they had was a light saber. They never even considered new sith could rise. Gosh they tried so hard to keep a reputation as peace keepers they were foolishly allowing themselves to be killed or letting evil people live simply because their Jedi beliefs prevented it. In season 4 when the slavers were overturned on Obi wan didn't kill the warden because he was unarmed even though the guy murdered countless innocents(luckily Rex wasn't a Jedi &I killed him). That right there is why the Jedi were so weak and foolish. And their own arrogance is what brought upon their downfall.
Because alot of it is pretty well written. There are a few things I didn't like particularly in the New Jedi Order era, but there were alot of cool characters and good storylines. I particularly liked all the Old Republic stuff as I liked seeing the Jedi in their heyday. Not sure if Disney has de-canonized Old Republic stuff but I think I'll decide for myself what's canon and not. I don't need some faceless megacorp telling me what did and didn't happen in one of my favorite fiction universes.
Last I heard, The Old Republic was still canon because it takes place 3k years before the movies. I can't recall were I was reading that so don't take much stock in it.
Simple, the Jedi are keepers of the peace. Not soldiers. The Jedi have been the protectors of peace and justice sin the foundation of the republic. During the time of Darth Bane, the Army of Light was created to fight the Brotherhood of Darkness. When the war was over, the Senate made the decision to dissolve the Army so the Jedi became peace keepers again. It was the Clone Wats that gave them the military ranks again. At this point, some of the Jedi took armor again to protect themselves in battle.
Oooooorr... They realized that lightsabers can penetrate anything and blasters can go through armor. Much in the same way soldiers (1600s+) stopped using heavy metal armors because bullets can easily pierce them. Therefore they went with mobility instead of armoring. Ergo, jedi jump around a lot instead of standing and taking a hit.
I imagine any armour in age of laser pulsers/blasters would have to be ablative, but ablative armour would only be good for a few direct hits in one spot as it boil away so wearers would have to be very mobile, mobilty requires lighter/thinner armour. More ablation means heavier armour so you would have two classes light & heavy infantry. Jedi favouring mobility would tend to lighter armour to protect from lucky shots or shots from behind when fully engaged to front. Empire relying firstly on expendable clones then later 'peasant' conscripts went for medium armour with clones (although clone commanders seemed to have better/heavy armour), then lighter armour as they expanded their forces to mass conscripts. Also tactics of mass infantry stormtroopers was full frontal bitzkrieg/human wave attack where ST's in front rank would suffer multiple fire into front until they all fell or swarmed their opponents. Armour is not so bad in the duel/slash style of one-on-one combat one Jedi Vs one Sith but in massed mano e mano battle fighting roman style ie stab not slash armour becomes useless.
How much battle armor limits you in terms of movement?, because according to old games like Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, battle armor causes that the jedi can´t use (or use properly) force powers or abilities like speed, jump or drain, for mentioning some examples.
Hoping to see some awesome jedi armor reemerge in future films. Also they absolutely should make a film if not series of films built around KOTOR. Story, characters, relationships and the planets they can showcase are def worthy of the big screen

The reason Obi-Wan wore robes was because he lived in a desert. The reason Yoda wore robes was because he made them from hemp-like plants on the shitty planet he was living on. Uncle Owen wore a robe too. Does that make him a Jedi? The prequels were just utter shit written by someone with the mind of a 7 year-old. "Oh, the only Jedi we saw in the original trilogy wore robes. That must be how all Jedi always dressed, all the time. Next plot detail!" (This is also wrong. Hmm... With Luke going back to the first Jedi temple and exploring their history, I wonder if he'll return them to their more militaristic ways? With the First Order being out there now, and the Sith gone, but replaced by whatever Snoke is doing, it might be a good idea. They aren't going to be dealing with a *ahem* phantom menace, but a large open menace that will probably include an entire division of Dark Side Force users. Obviously none of this is canon anymore currently, but there's no telling what they might bring in from Legends. They ever did? Kota wears armor same as Obi-Wan and Anakin in Clone Wars. And that was end of Old Jedi Order. Anyway I think reason was simple. Both lightsaber and blaster bolts could pierce armor unless it's lightsaber-proof and those were rare and expensive. So armors were just waste of flexibility. I know most of them were made to give fliexibility, but ANY extra weight and extra, thick layer of clothes makes you less agile and lex flexible.

So basically, The Jedi were once much like European Knightly orders(Teutons, Hospitallers, ect) with significant holdings and temporal power. However, Instead of a powerful Jedi Lord declaring himself king and founding a kingdom as some real life orders did(Livonian order into Livonia) the Jedi instead chose to give all that up and become more like eastern orders of fighting monks.
Cortosis ore can be used in armour against light sabers, it deflects the energy of the light saber beam back into itself, creating a feedback that overloads the beam, it also can disperse other energy strikes such as blaster bolts, & there is canon of dark side force users using this & similar armour against jedi. Your video's are informative, but the pictures you offer have something to be desired. It really has little to no significance with what you are talking about. Showing random pictures of Jedi and Sith don't offer anything. You should at least put 'some' pictures in that represent the topic of what you're talking about at that time. That would a great deal to hear 'and' visualize it. And yes, I know....you're talking about Jedi and Sith. But showing a gigantic close up of one's face for the first minute just makes me want to turn off the vid. :P
Bane Is still canon dude, He wasn't "murdered" per se. He was created by Lucas himself when he was doing the backstory and history of the galaxy and event leading up to Ep1. Him destroying the Sith order and building them back up far stronger and implementing the rule of 2 is all completely canon..... Most of the content that took place before that, wasn't really ever canon in the first place. Only the Bane era and event leading up to Ep1, up to ROTJ. The canon expanded content mostly all fell only within that time period. There was some old republic content before the Bane era that was considered canon, but not much. And especially nothing from the post-Ep6 content. Literally NONE of that was ever canon content at any point in time to begin with. Lucas did a segment with AMC to clarify exactly that and confirm that none of the post-ROTJ content was ever canon for ppl that couldn't accept what they were told before...... Like I said, He was mostly referring directly to the stuff after ROTJ, but it includes a lot of the old republic content too. Only some was ever canon in the first place..... Again, that all comes straight from Lucas himself. How about the OBVIOUS? If a light saber will cut through the armor with little to no resistance, why wear it? It's the same reason suits of armor ceased to be used on Earth: bullets pass right through, so why spend lots of money on something that's just going to encumber you? The body armor we're now wearing can stop bullets, but when blasters that go right through it are invented, today's body armor will be obsolete as well.
Wow. just wow. if I thought the Jedi had problems before, now I know where it started. Though some of it isn't so dumb, but maybe they could have had a loophole for placing themselves under government oversight. Because damn.
Aaaah, true Star Wars! That feels good! I'm tired of all this DisCanon stuff appearing all over RU-vid. I think I'm going to start reading EU books again...
Listening to this reminded me how Bioware is awesome. By that i mean how they created a universe with KOTOR 1 that is far better than the movies (for me personally)...and then Obsidian with KOTOR 2. Kreia is one of the best written characters in the star wars universe. Don't know how to feel about the TOR mmo, do you play it?
