A few mistakes. Netherlands 88 did not play total football. That was Netherlands 74. The 1988 team played 4-4-2 which worked well for the players they had with a solid core of PSV players who won the European Cup that year and the great trio of Milan with Rijkaard, Gullit and Van Basten. Also they beat West Germany 1-2 during regular time. No extra time or penalties involved.
