I love this book. I relate to this part of the series a little too much. The movie adaptation is also one of my favorites despite a lot having to be left out.

Yes so true. I could relate to it. I don't know why I liked it so much. But this one moved me emotionally. I felt for Harry. I also liked Fred and George's grand escape. I related to the characters Some characters like (Neville) get more depth.....

I believe harry’s angst and anger is like, the features that make him feel more like a real person, than just a mindless hero protagonist that does the right thing because is the right thing. Also he is 15, he is a teen, and like most teens he sometimes feels angry about everything irrationally. Plus some theories even say that part of his constant anger was because of his connection with Voldemort, and is even hinted in the book when he says that sometimes he would feel angry or happy in moments that were unrelated of the situation. Other thing too about how the “mystery”is developed, is true that is not as good as other books, and we are almost in the dark without any clues, but i do believe that was on purpose cuz the books r written mainly from harry’s perspective and he, throughout the whole book, was mainly in the dark and too busy feeling miserable cuz of things happening in the school. The fact that harry was in the dark, is why the fifth book has such a sad ending. I also believe that’s why dumbledore decides to teach harry all that he has learned about voldemort in the sixth book, so they put the pieces together, and doesn’t repeat the mistake of leaving harry COMPLETELY in the dark. Other thing i like about this book is how they show adults can make mistakes, and not everyone in harry’s life is perfect. The show part voldemort in not the “only evil in the world” and how some adults can be cruel and mediocre, without necessarily being part of Voldemort’s side. And like how even the greatest character can make mistakes or be too emotional, like sirius who did treat badly kreacher or starting to be too reckless. (I still love him ;-;). Last thing, this books also brings more depth and complexity to things we’ve seen before and the magic world itself starts to move itself instead of being still and waiting for harry to discover new things. For example the ministry of magic is active key entity for the plot now more than ever. Azkaban is not the impenetrable prision we thought anymore and we learn more about who is in there. Even his parents are given more depth thanks to occlumency classes, etc

Yes! I loved this book! I really appreciated that this book was so much darker than expected. In the previous Harry Potter books, Harry and his friends were recognized for their bravery at the end and rewarded. But everything is different in this book. Harry is not able to celebrate winning the Triwizard Tournament. He's not welcomed as a hero for facing down Voldemort yet again. Nobody is preparing for the return of Voldemort. He's not aware of Dumbledore's plans. He's not allowed to be a part of the Order of the Phoenix or know important information. It really sets the tone for the last two books. Rowling does a good job of making us feel Harry's helplessness and frustration. I think Harry's the most criticized part of this book, which is just ridiculous. People expect him to be a good guy all the time. But if he did not lash out after everything he's been through, he would just be an extremely unrealistic character. I actually think he's very vulnerable and relatable in this book, especially to people who have dealt with problems like PTSD, themselves.

Harry is ridiculously furious and angry all the time, he yells at Ron and Hermione and boasts how he was the one who saved the philosophers stone but I really like it as it shows the other side of Harry which we hadn't seen in the other books.

OOTP was always my favorite book in the series. It was the first book released after I discovered Harry Potter so I remember eagerly anticipating it for months and reading all sorts of fan theories on internet forums. I never thought it was poorly paced at all. I wish all 7 of the books were long and detailed like OOTP. However, I don't share your enthusiasm for the movie. I thought it was a real shame that they left so much out. OOTP is the shortest of all the movies despite being the longest book!

And it really makes you realize how hard Harrys life is. His only father figure ( Sirius) dies. He rarely wins and when he does he has short tine before something worse and more deadly comes and more death of his family and friends and just everything bad that could happen. I love Harry Potter so much

The Order of the Phoenix is a special one for me for many reasons. One is that I've been introduced to the series around 2003 and the book (premiered in my country at January 2014) and Prisoner of Azkaban movie were the first ones I did anticipated. Second thing is that it did a tremendous job in world building. We meet new characters, enter locations we've never been before (the entrance for visitors to the Ministry of Magic and the Ministry itself, the hospital, the kitchen at Hogwarts, Room of Requirement, Grimmauld Place, Department of Mysteries, Hall of Prophecies and many more). Also, after Voldemort's resurrection the story is slowly moving us towards the final confrontation, it's not usual year at Hogwarts anymore with Voldemort and his followers plotting to take over and the Order of the Phoenix trying to stop them. We get more politics here, resistance, even some civil activism. We get to see a new perspective on Voldemort, the Ministry of Magic, Dumbledore and people in power in general. I strongly disagree that this book is too slow or something, it's as long as it should be. It is still full of magic despite the fact that it is so long and reveals so much, the whole series never loses this magic no matter how dark it sometimes becomes or what themes it connotes. Also, despite it being criticised for slow-pace, it is the first one when we get to see adult wizards in action. It is also more serious because it leaves us with major character death and a huge burden on the main protagonist's shoulder.

Im dealing with trauma myself, so I really love this book because I feel like (atleast emotionally) It is written very well and realistically. (The anger, helplessness, ect. ) I related to it so much and it made me happy- because even though I know people go through what I am trying to sort out, it was still nice to be able to see so many things I could relate to. It made me REALLY, TRULY realize I am not alone. That is why it will forever be my favorite. It makes me so happy, even though it is a much darker book than the ones prior.

I actually like Harry in OOTP. He just is so relatable. I actually have a similar things happen to me because nobody really believes me if im telling the truth and will always think im lying. Harry deserves to be angry. Imagine being at his spot. People thinks he’s a nutter and dont believe that Voldemort is back. Plus Dumbledore just litteraly left him in the dark. Harry have to scrap for news everyday at Privet Drive because nobody will give any news! I like how thick the book is. It also gives alot of detail which i enjoy. I like the movie aswell. Even though they cut alot of things, David Yates actually did very well for showing how lonely and angry Harry felt. Daniel Rachliffe also did amazing interpreting him. Sooo i actually like both book and movie 😊

Amazing.. I do think that this book is way too adult for kids which is probably why so many people don't really like it. You have to remember that most people read this book when they were kids or teens. Most people at that age aren't interested in politics and other heavy adult topics. When I read this book I was 20+ and I had a better time understanding and appreciating it :) Now, could you do a similar video on Chamber of Secrets? It's also very underrated. Perhaps even more

Its my favorite book of the series I just love the slower pace throughout the book, ans the fact that we follow harry in most of his classes I love the chapters in Sirius’ house, the slugs head And i LOVE the chapters at the hospital I like how we get to see neville evolving in the DA meetings And that we get some background on him The end of the book is not my favorite in the series, but its still action packed, and i do feel harry’s pain at the end I also really like the more academic theme in this book (especially chapter 31: owls) I like that we are introduced to tonks and luna, which are two of my favorite characters.. I also like the audience chapter, where we are introduced to t he ministry of magic. I love that quidditch is a well discussed subject throughout the book, and the rebellious nature of fred and george against Umbridge. Finally, I LOVE sassy McGonagall towards umbridge

I really like the fact that the mistery is not that important in this one because harrys character development and conflicts can stand in the foreground. I think it is also good because the series becomes more diverse because if this, not all 7 books have that much mistery there is one book which goes a litte different way. Because of that I think OotP is very unique which is very good.

“Harry is angry during this book”, he’s 15, his year is going to shit, the government is spreading fake news about him, his godfather is locked in a house he hates and away from him, his mentor is barely talking to him and a 70something year old who’s tried to kill him repeatedly is fucking with his head and he can’t get a good night’s sleep… I’m extremely patient and you bet I’d be pretty damn pissed if this was going on in my life…

Personally, I think it's really mostly because of Umbridge. A person doesn't run into a megalomaniac like Voldemort nor a total psycho like Bellatrix very often. However, almost everyone has run into someone like Umbridge who covers her evil and bigotry behind a smile and a simpering manner. It's the everyday evil that is the scariest and makes everyone despise Umbridge and I believe affects their view of the book.

It's an entertaining book but I feel there's no story, it's just a series of events one after the other. A lot of information is dropped, yet there's not a clear structure. Necessary however, because the following movies use all this.
