Fun breakdown of the Pokémon Battle Themes from different generations. Included is Gen IV (4), Gen I (1) , and gameplay from other gens like gen III (3). Champion Cynthia theme is briefly mentioned, as well as Champion Volo and how similar they are. At the end of this video, I recreated a Battle Theme in the style of Pokémon Diamond, Peal, Platinum.

Insight into who this rival is, from the theme: they have joined the evil team at around the midpoint in the game. Those high notes really spell that out. I think this character could have potentially three themes: a softer, more playful first battle, then this theme, and then their final theme with minor chords. Great work. The evil team's leitmotif would definitely be those high notes.

Loved the video and the insight on how the songs are structured The theme you created had both a "Mystic" and a "Royal" feeling to it, could easily see it being used in a pokemon region based somewhere with a history very close to their religion and myths, like China, but mostly Egypt or some other part from the Mediterranean area. Phenomenal stuff, 10/10.

As a prog fan, it would be awesome to hear a quintuplet polymetric version of the battle theme. So like instead of *D* A A# A *D* G# A G# *D* ... it would be *D* A A# A A *D* G# A G# A *D* ... Have backing drums with the snare doing 4/4 but the kick and possibly cymbal playing every fifth note (the D notes). Then keep with the 5 over 4 polymeter for the song.

It seems almost everyone likes the classic turn based style where a much smaller percentage likes the open world setup. It would be a shame if they did away with a lot of the older battle themes.

Agree and disagree! I LOVED the open world. But I only speak for myself. I think most people were very happy with LA based on the game ratings. But would be a shame on the musical end if they eventually run out of champions themes to recreate. Hope they don’t do away with them either!

It was fairly different. There’s no “cutscene” to transition you into battle. Just a simple animation. So the music was a bit different!

I really liked the video (at least in concept), but please equalize it a little better. Your voice/narration was on one volume level and your keyboard was LOUD. I needed to put my volume up and down, and in the "creative" portion I straight up stopped watching 'cause I couldn't keep messing with the volume every 2 to 5 seconds.
