I've owned a '04 PT GT 5speed for 2 months now. The hate is real. Most people immediately turn their nose and make negative comments. When they find out it's a 5 speed they warm up about 11%. When they find it's a turbo they warm up to about 38%. At the beginning I tried explaining what a GT is, the SRT-4 engine, other improvements, but after a few wasted attempts I just got the custom plate "NPC CAR" and have accepted that this car is hated by most, and just drive along and enjoy it, it is a great car especially for the money. Probably the ultimate underappreciated car ever.
I agree 100%. I picked up a '07 GT Cruiser convertible. Because I wanted a convertible. I had no idea how fast and fun it would be. It's the 230hp High output turbo. The best part is the cost. $1500 with only 113k miles. There's no the Turbo cars close to that range.
Yeah wow, $1500 is a steal!! The convertibles were pretty neat I must admit, I rarely see them around here... especially a H.O. GT version! That is dope man, good luck with it! Thanks for watching!
I purchase a 2006 with a bad turbo for $700.00 $300 for a new turbo cartridge and i have a nice fast car loaded with all the option leather sunroof Uconnect
I have an '05 GT Convert with the HO engine, Turbo, special heavy duty 5 speed stick and only 51,000 miles. All options and I've tricked it out with nostalgia '50s treatment. 2 tone paint (smoke grey (the original color) fenders and bright metallic blue body), glass packed muffler (Cherry Bomb) dual exhaust, lake pipes, '50s pinstriping here and there and "full moon" wheelcovers. I get lots of smiles, turned heads and thumbs up where ever we take it. (It's for Summertime use only). We also have a SHARP '02 Touring sedan with only 54,000 miles. We've added '50s pinstriping, a Sunviser, and trunklid "Continental Kit" for it. It was bought from a "little old lady" 3 years ago when it only had 17,000 miles. Love them both and they're very dependable ;-) I'd love to make a video showing my PTs but have never done it before......and don't have a clue how.....sorry. ;-(
Sweet! Always cool to meet another GT owner :) good luck with it! I suggest doing an intake of some sort to start modding, it makes it sound amazing! That and a muffler delete is all I have done to mine... for now anyways lol. Thanks for watching!
Channel C.G.E. i want a blow off valve and im just gonna clean the catalyst converter, so she sounds like shes suppose to sound mean lol. then slap on the rare mopar body kit i just need the 2 piece front bumper lip, ehich i saw and dint buy them omg im dumb lol.
I forgot about the mopar body kit, that looks pretty dope! Good luck! I need to install a BOV on mine too, the intake really opened up a lot of turbo/blowoff sound tho!
Had a 2001 limited sold it 250000 miles on it. May still be out there somewhere. Bought a second one recently only 44000 miles off an older woman. Love these cars!
I have a NA PT Cruiser that was gifted to me and I didn’t think much of it until I started to work on the motor and realized it was an srt4 it’s said modifications. I already had my timing belt shredded but everything was fine. Replaced timing belt, water pulley, and tensioner pulley. Aftermarket intake, as well as swapped the GT Turbo intake manifold. Oh and muffler delete with 2.5” straight pipe from the rear tire back. Sounds very aggressive and turns a lot of heads in my area, as I’m the only one with a modified PT (that I know of). Plan on putting in the turbo and accessories needed as well as replace auto trans with manual.
Nice dude!! I'm one of the few "modified" PTs in my area too, it breaks a lot of necks lol! Good luck with your PT and future modifications, and thanks for watching! :D
I don't own a PT Cruiser GT. But I do like the styling. It's a great value proposition performance car !! Thanks for posting & seeing the car in a positive light. It's actually got really cool styling......
Almost......ALMOST.........bought one just a few days back. Been wanting a PTC for years but always ended up with something else. Love the way they look and think they are cool little flivvers. My problem is every single one of them available in my area comes with a list of repairs that totals up to more than the asking price of the car. I mean, man, I don't expect any used jalopy to be pristine, but when the car has been driven almost all the way to the moon and looks it? Yeah - it breaks my heart but I have to leave that puppy at the pound and try and find another one in better shape. Ultimately, I wimped out - and bought an HHR. But, my heart is still with the PTCs....
Dang, but at least you got the next closest thing! The HHRs were designed by the same person actually, despite the fact that its 2 different companies. I know lots of people with HHRs as well and they seem to like them a lot. I would recommend to anybody that's looking for a PT of any kind to keep an eye out for one that's clean and has had at least some of the common issues addressed already, like the timing belt/water pump, front suspension like ball joints and tie rods, etc etc... seems like around 90k to 120k a lot of these issues start to pop up. And I swear I've ended up tackling every one of them by now lol. For example tho, my mom about a year ago bought a 2007 Touring edition PT... she got it at a small local dealership and it had already had some of the issues taken care of (tie rod ends, just to name one). She put a TON of miles on it last year and all it needed was wheel bearings and an alternator (I believe personally that one was a fluke). Hang in there, one of these days you'll fine the right one for you!! Good luck with your HHR man, and thanks for following the channel! :D
I've got a PT Cruiser that I got from a relative in order to turn into a daily driver, because I like the looks, it is comfortable to drive and does well enough on fuel economy. Oh, I also want to be able to save wear and tear and do a bit of refreshing / light restoration on my car I really like... My Neon R/T! Yes, you got a laugh out of me.
Shows how much I know about cars.. I just learned my Cruiser is a GT as well... and I know nothing of turbo engines and a hose was apparently loose or disconnected and now it's connected again and the engine sounds so weird to me now and it's kind of freaking me out lol
Yes!! You know the struggle lol. Not gonna lie tho, it is kinda fun having a car that's a sort of a sleeper. Pulling up next to a Honda and unexpectedly smoking them is always a good time haha. Thanks for watching dude!
Haha! Rice it up, boi! I've made many a ricer move with my GT but oh well, gotta do you. The turbo motor is pretty sweet but I really like the N/As too! I would get another one that's an N/A if the price was right! Thanks for watching dude :D
the PT Cruiser's are very underappreciated, but are one of the best cars Chrysler has made in a long time. I have an '04 Limited with a stick because I have owned an SRT-4 and I don't like Mopar turbos. They have their issues, but are a great car
Thanks man!!! I watched your overview of your GT as well but I haven't had time to leave a comment! I'm gonna watch it thru again and drop you one soon, but wow that thing is beautiful!
I actually like the looks of this car, the car has got an embarrassing look , it is because a car design must be interesting and trendy ,not boring!love and respect the pt cruiser! Hate the Toyota Prius !
I used to drive an ‘05 GT, and it was awesome until it blew the engine last month. RIP Shi, you will always be remembered for kicking ass on the freeway at 100 MPH.
Yep. Even belt changes are a challenge. There are two of them, and one is almost inaccessible. The timing belts are all but engineered to disintegrate within 500 miles of the 100K mark. Anyone buying a PTC at or near that mileage should confirm that it's been done, or plan to do it. Mine was barely intact when I had it pulled at just shy of 101K, pretty much in crumbles.
It is hated idk why I like Chrysler I didn't like Chrysler cause of scotty kilmer but that's just hating cause I like Chrysler I have a jeep patriot and Chrysler 200
