Lightsaber hilts are not lightsaber resistant tho! The compressed light never touches it. It would need to be made out of beskar or some other lightsaber resistant material.

The whole concept is 'just for show'. Just to bring samurai into the Star Wars universe. Looks very cool, but is not in keeping with Star Wars lore - so, it's an alternate universe.

@@timonsolus The Jedi are literally samurai crossed with buddhist monks, in space. I don't think you know half as much about Star Wars as you seem to think. A Sith, Dark Jedi, or even just a regular Jedi having a very samurai theme isn't incompatible with canon at all, especially if it's meant to be in a much earlier era.

@@timonsolus The whole Jedi thing is inspired by Samurai warriors. The philosophy and stoicism way of looking things are related to them. Hell, even Darth Vader's armour is also inspired by Date Masamune's Armour

That's the whole point though the rules weren't broken if the "fans" saying that the rules were actually read the canon material and knew that this style was actually part of Lucas's original "vision" (hehehe punny) then they'd show more appreciation for all of the visions works of art they're really amazing... @Terrapin Fritz yes and no. There are built rules and regulations for light saver and their cristals, I mean from natural and synthetic cristals. I don’t like the Ronan just cause from the years of canon and the expanded universe we’ve seen and read about so many light sabers, the proto saber, and so more. I just feel cheapen by the explanations of how and why. Like I mean we had the mandalorian light saber.

even the concept of 'plasma blade' of lightsaber didnt make sense. it would need a ton of gigajoule of energy to provide constant heat in very long time. unless you need to bring a planet worth helium tube everywhere

@@DeathstroketheTerminator Dude Kylo's saber had been explained since 2015. His Kyber crystal is cracked (probably because he used Vader's) and he had to build the crossguard hilt (based on designs from the Old Republic, as seen in Rebels on Malachor) to vent the excess energy that the unstable blade constantly produces. It's basically the opposite of the lightsaber you're currently complaining about.

@@DeathstroketheTerminator Lightsabers are powered by a crystal which is then focused into a beam of energy. It's hardly the wackiest thing that SW has done with lightsabers. And yes, I am aware of Tenel Ka and her saber. Jacen realized too late that her blade had disappeared. Kylo venting the energy is meant to avoid that very scenario, expelling the excess energy before it has a chance to build up and eventually explode. If you wish to pick a fight with a lightsaber design might I recommend the Lightwhip?

@@timonsolus Cortosis hasn't worked like that in canon for a while, nor has it been the only lightsaber-proof material for like 20 years at this point.

How is it legit when he has a lightsaber that can turn off built on the scabbard? Doesn't that prove that he knows the mechanics and could fix his broken lightsaber, or at least just use the one from the hilt instead that does turn off? Or any other lightsaber from a fallen Sith? Its a cool idea but him having a working lightsaber kinda ruins it.

To just anyone, it would simply be a weapon or a tool. But to its true owner, it's definitely an extension of the person. Nothing stops a regular person from using a lightsaber. Hell, I remember Han Solo using Luke’s lightsaber as a tool as well.

Much like how Obi-Wan and the samurai of Feudal Japan believed. “This weapon is your life, never lose it”.

But a lightsaber still is a tool and a weapon. It was made to be a weapon it will always be a weapon.

@@ChapoChaos no, not only for that. It's secondary weapon. Like you have M4 but you need other smaller weapons like a pistol and knife. Same with samurai or swordsman. They at least had a knife. Wakizashi or other Katana can worked too.

@@DarthAxolotl you need to learn about Star Wars before you speak with authority. The saya does not touch the blade. The habaki is the fixture through which the saya and tsuka meet, and keeps the blade held in place without it needing to make contact with it. Lightsabers are shown to almost touch things with no heat transfer, until said object is in contact with the plasma, then it's molecular structure rapidly vibrates into oblivion. So yeah, this is very much canon.

@@DarthAxolotl how the blade is straight as drawn? Literal practice. The character created the sheath around the blade after if was broken and remains in its static position. That means he made it so the blade can be drawn out without it touching, provided lines are parallel. Iaijutsu is the combative art form of drawing the sword. You must practice pulling it out without it scraping the inside, otherwise, the saya, or sheath, could break or damage. You draw it straight. Or at an angle, but you do it right, in the end. This character is a ronin, or has iaijutsu training, so that is how he draws his weapon without it clanging around like an idiot. It's how you catch some sith slacking. They will hear it being drawn if you touch the sides. Not if you draw it straight. He probably acts accordingly. I'm not sure what else I can explain, but this is all very well done and holds up to lore correctly. Lightsaber blade is not touching it's housing, the saya, so housing is not effected by it. Only the habaki is plugged into the saya. You can shave with a lightsaber, so this one must be enough output to work similarly. It's not spewing plasma and melting his pants, so a sheath works if you don't draw it wrong by accident. Just look up a katana. It's literally the weapon he uses and it's not hard to see once you look at how the sword is held in. Only the back of the blade touches the saya, but for this lightsaber, there is extra clearance so the blade touches nothing, for the obvious reason.

as far as i know lightsabers don't really need that anymore since their energy lasts very long already.

I also really love the Jedi lesson at the end where he dissuades his Padawan from seeking pointless power by stating the fact that it will always be fleeting you'll always get older and lose that power it's better to do something meaningful than just acquire more power

It wouldn’t fit into canon tho. It takes place in the high republic after Bane and before TPM, and we know the Jedi haven’t seen sith in 1000 years before TPM

I agree. That is the point of Star Wars visions. It’s a “what if”. Not what if, like marvel’s alternative dimensions and timelines, but in the sense that Star Wars visions experiments with non-cannon ideas and stories that we wouldn’t have considered in the original story and universe. Which makes this show so exciting and at times suspenseful.

I do agree with you, but also people don't really get to choose what they do and do not care about. If this upset them then I get that, even though it's unfair and unreasonable

Not to mention it could all be very methaphorical in a way that the saber itself might be a representation of the Ronin himself. A broken man with a broken weapon that isn't allowed to stop until they're either completely defeated or perhaps fixed/finds peace

I mean he took the time to craft a hilt out of other lightsabers seems weird he can fix it. But the concept is badass broken man broken weapon.

Um there is t0b1 and then the other one is lop and Ocho. T0b1 I can kinda understand cause he is a robot, but neither of these characters appear to have combat training and both go up against trained opponents and win basically. I should say I did still like lop and Ocho but wasn't a big fan in general of t0b1's story. I also don't know anything about these stories other than what is shown on screen in there episodes, so going by appearance only

Which specifically are you referring to? Trigger made the one with the Twins and also the one with the old sith who fought the Jedi and Palawan. Both were superb but I’d love to know which was your favourite of the two! :)

i will say, likely in the minority, amd a bit of a sweat myself admittedly. I dont mind the visions series so long as people take it as alternate universe scenarios (unlike most of these sweats) and I enjoyed it. Sequels were good from a visual standpoint but a literal dumpster fire from a story telling and lore standpoint. Fin should have been the jedi and not Rey getting bullshitted into the main role. He has so much more of a fulfilling backstory for it

@@theoian In legends they did, but it was rarely needed cause power sources were so good. Some of the early sabers even needed battery backs with a wire connected to the saber

@@theoian yeah lightsabers had batteries that lasted 300-500 hours before charging. So far this comment is the best explanation I’ve seen for the lightsaber not deactivating, but man, this guy should really get the toolbox out next time the battery dies.

Maybe it's more of the scavenged parts? Vibroblades can contend with sabers, perhaps it's more like he took whatever materials could withstand the blade at the point of emission and built the scabbard with that.

Mostly because the shorts had 10 - 15 minutes to tell their (possibly non-canon) story and that type of detail wasn't needed. It's clear that the Lightsaber scabbard was done as a stylistic choice more so then anything else, and it would be up to something else taking a much more deeper dive (like say, the book) to explain why this fits into the deeper Canon.

@@Timmir00 That is a good point that I hadn't thought of. However Star Wars, with the possible exception of certain books, has a bad case of the "no time to explains". That is what I meant to allude to. The kicker is it's easy to cure this condition. For example, to indicate a reason for a lightsaber's scabbarding in a theatrical Star Wars tale I'd give the scabbarded saber's wielder a tick where they flip the ignite switch on and off. Maybe they do this when stressed, maybe it provides a meditative metronome or maybe quick trigger flipping is something Jedi train to do. A blink and you'll miss it detail like this can fit into any runtime and can be enchanting when noticed.

I think its more a general dislike of the series. The sheath is just an aspect thats so easy to poke holes in. And its episode 1 so more people will have likely seen it.

Yeah, if u wanna be angry just point about those space fight between the twins in episode 3, it deserve some question mark, but still sick tho lol

For sake of making sense of this imagine the battery also feeds off the crystal nvr needs to be charged but always needs new crystals to maintain battery and solidification of the blade ....ligh5saber energy is magnetically contained plasma the crystal produces the plasma the battery produces the magnetic charge and lightsabers run out of power due to the power draw made when the magnetic field makes contact with any surface

I like the katana saber however it sounds like you're describing Christianity with it's canonical zombies and magic yet no one bats an eye when a denomination of Christianity picks and chooses what lore it thinks makes sense or at an atheist that thinks none of it makes sense. The concept of disliking a piece of canon while liking the rest makes sense to me unless you're hyper orthodox and need to love every piece of published media. Every universe has a level of canon that dictates what makes and what doesn't make sense. His saber doesn't make sense. Just fix it, use a different one, or take out the crystal and only put it in when it needs to be used.

His saber was an artistic choice to look cooler like alot of things in Starwars For example: Chewbacca's lazer Crossbow, the space combat, the fact that there seems to be no digital currency and only a physical one, why didn't the separatists use ballistic weapons like the Mandalorians. Ect This isn't cannon and it is entering to whatch, so why pick apart a minor detail?

If you listen to the end of the video he says the bottom of the scabbard is a second lightsaber.

If you pay close attention (I was confused too) he mentions that the scabbard is a lightsaber too, so actually he was just deactivating the scabbard I guess?

The lightsaber he deactivated in the clip was his “shoto” saber. This is a real-world concept. When samurai couldn’t use their primary weapon, they had a smaller sword as their secondary just in case. It was his larger primary saber that could NOT deactivate. That’s the saber he used on the statue to distract the Sith. The saber he used to kill the Sith was a different saber alltogether. One that’s smaller and works as intended thus being able to deactivate. Or it could also be his scabbard because he noted that it’s made from lightsabers

@@Momo-xs8mo people are trying to call his Scabbard a auxiliary. It has its own lightsaber crystal so it's not an auxiliary. Like you said it's just a lightsaber

Rahm Kota's lightsaber HILT was kept in a holder on his back. When it was turned OFF. Kota only ignited it after calling it to his hand with the Force, and turned it off before replacing it on his back. That is NOT the same thing as a permanently ignited lightsaber kept in a scabbard. Not the same thing AT ALL.
