What are the best strategies to protect my portfolio? I've heard that a downturn will devastate the financial market, so I'm concerned about my $200k stock portfolio.,

During a true market downturn you might be able to compare the Slock Rocket to the Economy, but this turbulence with it's downs and ups doesn't measure the economy because there are many companies which either do better because of the changes in the market, e.g. Amazon, Netflix etc, or can adapt because their infrastructure can be adapted easily to making necessaries for the pandemic, e.g. distillers can switch to making sanitizers and many manufacturers switched to making PPE, or just by their nature they're necessary regardless, e.g. supply chain infrastructure companies, farms and supermarkets. So in this pandemic I've seen my meager retirement fund grow in the Slock Rocket while jobless rates scale mountains and the economy does the lemming over a cliff.

Simple answer. The Fed pumps money into the stock market and banks. The Fed does not pump money into the Real Economy. The is more true today than any time before.
