Very valid points that are given in this review! Sometimes I feel like getting an ipad just because it’s popular and quite nice 😂, but the practicality of a surface pro is just perfect. Especially for an engineering student!
@@Anthanovhaha this is such an old comment. no, not an engg student but pre med. the keyboard isnt bad haha... pretty decent and actually nice to type on. edit: but yeah if an engg or it/compsci student.. other laptops will also work and probably will be better. it jsut depends on how were gonna use it loll
@@flrzm i know the keyboard is nice since i own one but when you sit down with the surface in the lap, lets just say the typing experience isnt that good.
I’m on the market for a new computer as a masters student (thesis stage) and I was mind-blown when you got to annotate in Zotero! I read journals on Goodnotes on my ipad and export the annotated file on Mendeley on my mac, and it’s such a hassle. This is a great review. Thank you!
thank you for this review! I am starting grad school next month and was debating on if this would be a good fit. I love the versatility of the tablet/computer use. you definitely sold me on it. thanks again.
yeah i think that a surface pro would be better for student. But i think that they need better battery life. But nothing beats it as a Two in one device for pure school work. Can always add a iPad for entertainment purpose. Yeah, minimum need 16 GB for windows 11 though.
Thanks. I'm staring my Masters Thesis Research work this week. Just picked up Surface Pro 9. I think flexibility of this device is the right fit for this academic excercise.
What PDF reader did you say you use? I am starting my Phd this Fall and have been a iPad user, using iBooks to read my PDFs and highlight, etc, during my master's. But I want a laptop that is a tablet in one. So, I am seriously thinking about buying the Surface Pro 7/8. My main concern with using the Surface is what PDF reader works best to highlight, take notes, and search my notes. What do you use?
Thanks for your advice I actually have a Surface Pro 2 but I stop using it I need to upgrade and possibly I'm looking into maybe getting a used excellent condition 7, 8 or 9 not sure which one yet after I do enough research on the pros and cons but also less expensive.
At 5'40", I didn't get what softwares you use to open and annotate pdfs with the pen. I use ABBYY and it's impossibly laggy. Can you please write them down as an answer to this comment? Thanks a lot
What iPad should I get for use as a "laptop", I seem to like the portability, you can also recommend me tablets not just from apple that are nice, and efficient. Im looking for something on daily use that I can rely on but I don't know what to get. I see the iPad mini 6 is a nice device, but I don't know how I would feel getting my work done on that small screen.
Personally I don’t think so. If you hold the surface in portrait mode you can use the back hinge as a grip for your fingers to make it easier to hold for reading.
question, im planning on buying a surface pro4 with somewhat 'better' specs i5 6th gen, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd for only $280, theres a surface pro 7 with i7 10th gen, 16gb ram, 256gb for $550 [both dont have a pen, so i found a seller whos going for $75 for a mouse and pen] idk which i should go for.. my budget is around $400, less is better. but i would def shill and over spend if the choice is better. but then again, ill be too broke.
