@@scroggins100 the people of the Arabian peninsula and most other Muslim majority countries do not want liberal rulers but conservative religious leaders. lets not change the subject, the issue is western imperialism and the fact that most westerners do not want an empire and nor do they want their countries having military bases in far away countries, so the question is why do some plebs still support the imperialism when they should be well aware by now that it only leads to problems not only for the world but also the UK with all those refugees and immigrants that come to the UK as a direct result of the imperialist actions of the UK and the USA, France. you are being played by the western imperialist elite! they dont care what happens to these far away countries and its people and nor do they care about you and your community or society in the UK or USA, EU. so why are you supporting this crazy imperialism when you should be totally against it because it is absolutely against the interests of 99.9% of the population of the UK, USA and EU.

Oman and the UK have a huge, huge amount of history, particularly the 1960-70's. Much of why the Middle East, and Oman in particular, are what they are today is because of those two decades. While the centre of attention was on the Vietnam War, Russia was also trying to gain a foothold in The Middle East...we all owe the SAS a very large debt of gratitude.

SAS; Special Air Service, more specifically, 22 SAS, which is unofficially, and internationally probably more often called 'British SAS' as 22 is the British Army's regular SAS unit. They are highly regarded special forces soldiers trained in a wide range of specialities. They operated in Oman extensively during various conflicts decades ago, having major success and influence.

To the people complaining that this is just for oil, so what? Like it or not, the world runs on oil and if we need to have a base in the Middle East to help protect our interests then so be it. Anyway, it’s not just about oil… It’s also important to have allies in the area. Oman, like the report said, is friendly with both Iran and Saudi Arabia and having an ally that is capable of mediating between the two sides may very come in handy in the future. For example, Oman recently helped with the release of 2 British-Iranian political prisoners who were arrested in Iran years ago.The UK also have ambitious trade plans in the Gulf, not just oil but various other goods (estimated to add £1.6billion to the UK economy per year). Long story short, it’s nothing new to have military partnerships with friendly nations that help enable your country to trade and grow. Not everything is just about oil. Some of it yes, but saying it’s all about oil I s just untrue.
@CaliPlays5651
@CaliPlays5651 Год назад
But it’s not your oil… it belongs to Oman and you guys are obviously using them to get it. You and the yanks just don’t get it.
@davidhouseman4328
@davidhouseman4328 Год назад
@@CaliPlays5651 so first off, this isn't about Oman specifically who have relatively little, but the region. Secondly the countries don't want to keep there oil they want to sell it.
@alltheothernamesweretaken8826
@@CaliPlays5651 The oil isnt being stolen. OQ (formerly oil company of Oman) is owned by the Omani government. The government owns all of the major oil and gas exporters. Foreign countries have their hands in Oman’s oil, of course, but that’s normal to have foreign investment coming in especially when it’s involving natural resources. According to the OEC, China received 45% of Omans exports of oil last year, the Uk received 0.24% Omans yearly oil exports. British owned or operated oil and gas companies do have shares in Omani oil but so do the US, Chinese, Saudis, Qatar, UAE etc. Indian workers make up about half of the entire workforce in Oman. It’s called foreign investment. Oil makes up about 70% of Omans government revenue and makes up about 30% of their GDP. In other words, they are an oil state. Much like other oil states, Oman are trying to reduce their reliance on their oil. To do this they have to accept foreign help because they have put all of their eggs into one basket in the fact that they went all out in the oil and gas sector and everything else lacked behind. This is where their UK partnership comes in. The uk brings in foreign investment into industries other that oil and gas and in return they get a strategic partnership with Omans government. It’s how international relations work. This isn’t the olden days where you could just rock up and take what you want. It’s a fair process where each party benefit. Like I said, Oman are responsible for the vast majority of their oil exports, yes foreign companies have shares those companies but Oman still own and receive the vast majority of the revenue. Compare this to what countries like China do with their debt traps and you start to realise why a lot of oil states would rather do business with western countries.
