To be as fair as possible to the NRA, they supported gun control laws prior to the rise of the Black Panthers, and in fact explicitly disavowed gun wielding white supremacists during the civil rights era. The also supported gun control laws in the 1930s that prevented mail order guns and restricting the sale of actual machine guns.
@White lives matter straight man hahhahahhahahahaha! Worst hate groups in US history?! You're a robot right? Give me one lynching or assassination perpetrated by BLM. Are you aware of actual hate groups and their activities at all? Nope!
@@DrQuak First of all, the step that they took in 1930s to stop the sale of MGs, SMGs and mail order guns was to sheild the production of handguns from regulation and not some nobel cause, although the move was marketed as if it was to keep it out the hands of 'gangs'. Also the NRA didn't have any form of proper lobbying structure at that time. Now, disavowing white supremacists doesn't hold much water if you mirror white supremacist talking points in order to increase sale to your overwhelmingly white consumer base (a tactic which is used by the people who hold the highest positions in the company till this day.) So no, they hadn't actually pushed for gun reform prior to the rise of the Black Panther Party and their innovative outlook towards the 2nd Amendment.

The economic system in Canada was NEVER and STILL ISN"T socialist. The government imposes certain socialistic elements, but it's a straight up capitalist economy. All about profit. The only real truly socialist element that they ever implemented was universal healthcare, which the government wishes to change.
@Social Libertarian Universal healthcare has nothing to do with socialism? Okay then. It's a socialist ideal. It doesn't make a nation socialist for that nation to provide universal healthcare. It simply means that it has adopted a socialist principle. "Socialized medicine is, by definition, a healthcare system in which the government owns and operates healthcare facilities and employs the healthcare professionals, thus also paying for all healthcare services." That's Canada.
The horrible thing was, the police officers were smiling when they took the Fred Hampton's corpse. I mean you just killed a 19 year old man, with a bright future that can improve America.
The BBP wasn't simply democratic socialist as its used in common parlance today. They were at one point Maoists and even as they grew in the direction of reformism they also maintained a diversity of goals and internal ideologies which included a well justified desire for militant overthrow of the United States by the proletariat. Revolution as they understood it didn't end with them implementing free lunch programs and giving people healthcare. That is was only where it began.
So they say after they killed the leader. Why not arrest Hampton then and put him on trial? Heck, why not arrest the whole BPP if the FBI truly knew what they were doing?
He was trying to bring all the oppressed together to fight the power - his fatal sin against the establishment. May his soul rest in piece and his memory remain in the minds of the people.
