Kansas City, Missouri is not Kansas City , Ks. Completely separate. Mo. Is beautiful rolling hills, trees, rivers. And Kansas is flat, flat, and more flat east to west. I’m no saying it’s not pretty. If you like this type of landscape. Independence Mo. was where the wagon trains started the trek West. Independence sits at the top of cliffs along the Missouri River, which flow around the bend of KCMO. The Kansas (Kaw) River is a tributary to Mo. River. The bend of the rivers West port ( the limit of civilization) until 1830. The Indian removal act.This the jumping of, to the Overland Trails Sante Fe, Oregon, California trails, one and the same as Independece and Westport. This is the beginning of KCMO AND KCKS. Just a little information.

CLARIFICATION: *Perhaps viewers might get the impression that Kansas City, MO was named before Kansas existed. It did not achieve statehood until 1861, but previous to that it was Kansas Territory. *The reason Kansas City, MO was named thusly is because of the Kanza Indian tribe. *When speaking of the Kansas side as being suburban, that is a reference to Johnson County, not Kansas City, KS. Though Kansas City, KS is the little brother, it is urban, not suburban. *The best barbecue is Rosedale. Nice vid, m'dude.

What you said about Kansas City, KS having better schools, etc is just wrong. Kansas City, KS is in Wyandotte Couty, which is in fact a poor urban area. You have to go to Johnson County, KS to get into the wealthier suburbs with the sought-after schools and the sprawling suburbs. Overland Park (with a “mere” 195,000 people) is in Johnson County, KS along with several other incorporated municipalities which are all suburbs of Kansas City, MO that happen to be across the state line from KCMO. The state line is literally a street named “State Line” that is MO on one side and KS on the other. As an Overland Park resident myself, I proudly say people Kansas City when they ask where I’m from, but I live in a suburb that happens to be on the Kansas side.
@SomethingDifferentFilms
@SomethingDifferentFilms Год назад
Everything I say in my videos here, well it's based on data. That's to say, when I give an opinion I make it clear that I am doing so. I feel that it's the hours of data gathering and research that adds value to the content I create, not the observations themselves as of course the data I use is readily available. Of course there are good and bad areas on both sides of the KS MO border there, but the statement is meant as something on the whole. I do appreciate you commenting Toby, and thank you for watching my video.

Decent video and pretty much sums it up. KCMO is much older and came before the state of KS was even a territory. The bottom line is that KCK is a suburb of KCMO. KCK is not even the largest suburb on the KS side, that would be Overland Park. The only thing KCK and KCMO have in common is their name. They are very difference cities in almost every way. KCMo is much more urban and is where you will find all of KC's cultural assets. Regardless, it's all one big metro area of 2.2 million people. 2.6 million if you include places like Lawrence and St Joe. Lots of great suburban areas in both MO and KS, but honestly, there is no reason to even visit the KS side of KC unless going to an MLS soccer game or to the speedway. The KS side is the same suburban sprawl you will find in 100 other cities.

@kc2dc444

The MO side is growing in urban KCMO, the Northland and the Jackson and Cass County suburbs.

@kc2dc444 Год назад
@@TheFreddo12 So what if it's in a different state. Lots of cities have suburbs in different states. Everything on the KS side is a suburb of KCMO. KCK is a suburb too. It has "some" urban characteristics sort of like Independence, MO but it mostly functions as a suburb within the KC metro area.

If Overland Park keeps growing at it's current rate, it will match KC in population by 2040. It's interesting that you noted several issues of KCMO, and said that things were looking up for KCK. When you have suburban white flight, where do you think the crime and traffic in KCMO are coming from? It's easier to have things like good schools when all the wealthy people leave to create an exclave while simultaneously occupying all the high paying jobs in KCK and causing most of the traffic. Lack of opportunity and access to education creates cyclical poverty and economic depression. I thought your video was interesting, but man, that's a really shallow take at the end.

I think the most accurate way to put it is "the primary Kansas City is in Missouri" the "less known Kansas City is in Kansas". Otherwise I agree Phil the majority of the Kansas City Metro is located in Missouri, with more of the suburbs being located in Kansas with relatively few city-type amenities.

No its because that atea was suppost to be like a mini d.c. for the winter months form the founding fathers as there is a building that was finished in 1793 Benjamin franklin was there to see it finished and that liberty bell was struck by lightning bolt and my very own two hands have touched that bell, and the wood came froma tree that is loke 283years older than the bell itself,. That crack in the bell is 1 for 1 scale on a railroad tie measurement... So only a lightning bolt could have hit that liberty bell. Thats how that works...

The people who settled the area were not necessarily the most creative when selecting place names. I grew up in the part of Kansas City, MO north of the Missouri River, which is called Kansas City North and surrounds an independent city named North Kansas City. I attended the North Kansas City School District, but resided in Kansas City North. When people asked where I was from, it was usually easier to say 'about 250 miles west of St. Louis.
