I have been depressed for a long time, but after taking mushrooms few months ago, l feel much happier and highly motivated and my ADHD gone , lost a ton of anxiousness and had a few epiphanies about how I should live my life. I decided to buy an ounce for backup, but haven’t yet felt the need to take any more since then.
The 5 Mushrooms discussed in the vid are: Reishi, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Chaga and Lions Mane (in that sequence). He goes into their main benefits and use
@@citruscollins Is that an acceptable excuse for wasting other people's time? I would say it;s even the opposite, if you have some skills and decent means, you should think of doing something more than shiddy content.
I find myself wanting to disagree with the notion that there are 5 'functional' all-star fungi. I think the reason most mushrooms are not considered 'functional' is simply because lab work and clinical studies have not been carried out on the majority of them, and also because most of them do not lend themselves to cultivation, and therefore the potential for profit, and so there is little incentive to study them. Many more species than these 5 are already in use in different cultures around the world however, having been well studied, and used as medicinal ingredients in traditional medicine systems and in pharmaceuticals... Poria cocos, Tremella fusciformis, Phellinus linteus, Auricularia auricula, Grifola frondosa to name but a few. Their claimed actions are backed up by laboratory and clinical studies already in many cases. Additionally, almost all edible mushrooms are considered to be 'functional' foods; being rich in phenolic antioxidants, reducing glucose absorption in the small intestine via inhibiting alpha-glucosidase activity, helping to regulate cholesterol metabolism due to the presence of natural statins, supplying the body with ergothioneine, glutathione, linoleic acid, ergosterol, GABA, vitamin D and protein bound branched beta-glucans. Even common white button mushrooms supply these things... the perspective of there being 5 'stars' appears to be linked to the ready availability of those products as ingredients via the neutraceutical industry, and could be driven by profit, not medicinal activity, scientific discovery, or their use as traditional medicines, which would completely change the emphasis. The 5 mushrooms discussed are brilliant and useful, but so are many of the others.
Tremella is a great mushroom. Its actually also great used as a natural beauty product. More potent hydrating for the skin than synthetic hyaluronic acid you find in tons of face cream. Plus no side effects like hyaluronic acid. Which can happen if you have sensitive skin or a weaker immune system.
Results have shown that one or two doses of psilocybin mushrooms given in a therapeutic setting, can make long-lasting changes in people suffering from depressive disorders.
Just so insane. I've started getting into oyster mushrooms for growing mycelium products beginning of the year and I am learning so much more about other species to grow - thank you for that short overview - one of the next steps will be to experiment with the above mentioned spores :) This is so damn interesting
I gave turkey tail mushrooms to my dogs for years. It helped a lot their health in general. They died at age of 17 but they were quite health almost until the end.
I find them in my back yard and woods often, I harvested some and currently in the process of making tincture for immunotherapy for my sister who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Reishi is also hepatotoxic. Use sparingly and no longer than a few months at a time. I had clinicians trying to get a liver biopsy because they thought I had fatty liver disease and my liver enzymes normalized when I identifier Reishi as the culprit and cut it out.

Wow. Thank you for sharing. Similar experience. Got told i probably hace fatty liver... But it did help me sleep. Stopped taking for 3 months - lost weight and feel cleaner, but just had some for sleep again and felt recovered... Didnt know about this. So thank you
Similar story: I was drinking a lot of chaga when I first found it and long story short, the oxylates in it were giving me a lot of back pain which turned out to be kidney pain and a trip to a urologist. All things in moderation I guess.
@@gcxred4kat9ah yeah I'd really love to know how much you guys were taking, I think everything needs to be done in moderation, and I've read you should avoid over usage but don't really understand what that amount and frequency actually is, when you Google there's contradictory information..
Hello! Just a wee fact check. Inonotus obliquus actually does have pathways which allow it to produce betulin and betulinic acid. It’s not only derived from host! I’m completing research on chaga for my masters. Hope that helps! Love the content!!
@@sharonmcbrearty3875 we have a video for that, we also sell it raw fromm Canada as a tea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xBMk10w2_kE.html
@Jade Blair, Hi, your masters sounds interesting! Is it a biochemistry masters? Please could you give a citation for this statement as it would be really useful to me. I think the key question I've got going on is whether it would continue to do so if not grown on the host... or would epigenetics just come into play and turn the process off? The presence of a pathway does not equate with active transcription leading to production of the metabolites. Many genes in all organisms are capable of switching on and off, or upregulating and downregulating, many different biochemical pathways. They do not all take place at once. I think what is needed is an assay for these terpenoids to be performed on chaga mycelial biomass grown on oat-grain substrate, vs chaga conk biomass grown on living birch tree, for example. That would remove all doubt. It might not be a simple case of are they present or not. It might be more about whether they are present in useable quantities or not. Maybe this work exists already... I'd be really happy to be shown this if that is the case. Betulin and betulinic acid are only a small part of the picture of biologically active metabolites when it comes to chaga (as I'm sure you will know), with other chaga specific compounds coming into play. Inotodiol has been demonstrated to be an immune checkpoint inhibitor for example... it could be really important, and there are others. Once again we don't know in all cases whether these are host specific metabolic pathways or their production is upregulated (or even downregulated) in connection with host metabolism in some way. It seems like more research is definitely going to be needed on these things as there are too many unknowns at present.
Been taking chaga for a while and LOVE it, but this video has me excited to try turkey's tail. I want to take singular mushrooms for a while rather than a blend, to see if I can notice specific benefits.
Ive started taking mushroom powders in my morning tea and give supplements to one of my teenagers. Such a difference. Mushrooms are the hidden gem. Mother nature has everything we need.
that is why they want you to eat all this garbage processed foods, cause it makes you sick and the medical community can benefit from your illnesses. I have been doing research about nutrition for almost 40 yrs,( after my father suffered a heart attack at the age of 42-and died at the age of 54, despite all the crap medications he was taking, so that me think-obviously drugs don't cure or keep you healthy) and it always goes back to eating real food, and a variety of it.
I really wonder about how good powders (food powders in general) really are. I used to take a bunch of supplemental herbs in powder form, but for some reason I have grown suspicious and now prefer to eat whole foods where I can, or make powders myself. Fresh beats powder anytime for me - any thoughts?
After regularly taking a mushroom supplement I noticed improved cognitive function and the ability to recall memories easier. Mental focus was also improved. Mushrooms are amazing
I gave some powdered lions mane mushroom to my 81 year old neighbor lady and she said after 3 days she could move her toes. She said its been over 3 years and she couldnt move her toes.
Thank you for you videos and free ebook. I’m taking turkey tail (capsules of 1000mg/2 a day) to help my ulcerative colitis. Been 1 week. I do feel less tired at the moment. Was in a flare and it helps. i’ll repost update when i get trough 1 bottle. It’s been
After half the bottle, the flare went down. So i started to take then every other day. I also started to take a spoonful of black cumin oil. This also helped. Today, i’m at my usual reguler 2 Mezanine pill/day rather then 4-6 when i was in flare. Also, 2-3 regilar solid bowels/day. I think stress has alot to do with it, but also, the cumin oil seemes to have helped. It’s hard to know what it the right combo because you tend to try many different things to just get better. At the moment, i’m still taking black seed cumin oil (Activation products, 1 tsp/day). When bowels seemed better, started to take a little fermented cabbage every day. My main food when in flare are homemade soups (broth, onions, celery, tumeric..) and do a castor oil pack every night. But i got trought it. I write down every meal i take and how i feel. This helps to know what seems to work and how i progressed.
Dan Bows I can help you. I am a member of a company that is considered the first in the world to grow organic reishi mushrooms. I use it and give it to patients. It is excellent for patients with cancer, multiple sclerosis, blockage of the arteries and all incurable diseases until the liver is saturated. The reishi mushroom has two types, the first type is four months old, expels toxins from the body and cleans the cell, and the second is four weeks old, transports oxygen to organs, renews cells and restores them. Capsules and drink water a lot to help expel toxins. No breakfast until two hours later. No sugar. Milk and gluten in the second week, two hours before dinner. The same method is followed in the evening. Symptoms are diarrhea, nausea, and even pressure can be disturbed, as the body fights viruses. Cordyceps mushrooms are excellent for everything related to the reproductive system and liver. Lung, heart, varicose veins and arterial obstruction Excellent for prostate Excellent for kidney failure Excellent for cirrhosis of the liver The one I am a member of eworld.dxn2u.com/index.php?r=account%2Fregisterb
Reishi, cordycep M., lion's mane, chaga, and agarikon for my top 5. The next five include turkey tail, hen of the woods, psilopsybin, amanita muscaria, and shiitake. Finally, on a purely gourmet consideration, there's pearl oyster, beefsteaf, giant puffball, enoki, and honey fungus... with chantrelles, morels and porcini getting honorable mentions.
Great video, LUV all the info. I currently am taking Paul Stamets 7 Blend which has 4 out of the 5 you mentioned here, plus Mesima, Maitake and Royal Sun Blazei. To be honest, I just started this protocol and am in no way stuck on it, I would be very happy to see what you offer which is similar. Blessing to you and your company
how much of the lions mane do you take daily and how long for results i have neuropathy from pinched nerves and am currently taking lions mane a mush complec.
@tracy I use Lion's Mane from Host Defense. I'm sure there's others that are just as good or there. I get mine on Amazon. The only info on how much is in each capsule is "1 g" of the mushroom, but I take 2 of the capsules almost every day. I do forget on occasion, but if I forget for 3 or 4 days, the brain fog and neuropathy come back. It took maybe a week, if I remember correctly, for it to take effect. Not sure about the mechanics of it all. I don't know if it'll help with the effects of a pinched nerve, but it sure helps with my issues. Good luck to you, and God bless.
@mc0000 Hi. Unfortunately I did not. I didn't learn about it until after I finished chemo. Is I HAD known about it before, I definitely would have used it then, that's for sure.
I was just recently diagnosed with a chronic disease that destroys my immune system. I’ve started taking Turkeys tail (powder form) In hot water with lemon everyday. I can’t wait to see how well it’ll help rebuild my immune system
Sorry to hear about your condition. Turkeys tail should work great I’ve read about that in this book called Ancient remedies you should check it out if you are into natural cures. Have you tried drinking kefir? It is packed with probiotics that support your immune system. I personally have a cup a day of kefir and have seen a big difference in my stomach.
As a avid mushroom hunter I’ve used turkey tail for years. Use it every day .. I make hot regular Irish breakfast tea. And toss in a few “tails”. It’s wonderful. I’ve also chewed it while hunting and I found I get some energy .. hen of the woods and lions mane are also super shrooms. Lions mane helps brain function.
Thanks for the video! I had only heard about Turkey Tail and Lion's Mane. For repeated views: Reishi 1:32 Turkey Tail 4:32 Corcyceps 7:05 Chaga 9:48 Lion's Mane 12:06.
good to see you are getting the warn weather there too ! lion's mane powder is great in pancake mix & the big reason is........ my children have no idea that they are eating mushrooms LOL chopped mushrooms in tacos / burritos are another great way to add mushrooms to a child's meal or replace the meat completely.
surprised you did not include Maitake in your list! not only is it medicinal, but is a gourmet quality mushroom which none of the other ones in your list are except for lions mane.
Great information, I am so grateful. I got Covid last year in May and I am not myself as before, especially my energy level went down, but Reishi really helps me to get better quality sleep m. I was born in Poland 🇵🇱 and I always loved mushroom picking up in the forests. Now living in Australia I miss the fragrance of fresh mushrooms from the forests. Thank you so much, will have to do more reading about the amazing mushrooms from your videos, very interesting. Live Chinese medicine too ❤
I felt strong NGF effects from the reishi THE NEXT DAY!! It was crazy honestly, like a microdose of psilocybin... the next day after plain brewed wild reishi tea! Amazing!
i had the best sleeep after having reishi i think its the best ......i was flying which is the most beautiful and emancipating dreams ..i never felt so good the next day.
Your knowledge is awesome! I live is Scotland and walk in the woods next to my house, I notice many turkey tail and those other mushrooms that grow on dead wood, but I am not confident in picking them to consume them, as there is a lot of poisonous mushrooms that no one seems too point out to us viewers, one has got too be careful, as one never sees turkey tail or lions main in the super markets! I love mushrooms and have them at least 5 days a week! Thank you so much for your knowledge Sir!
I love the taste of reishi. I take it in powdered form by the quarter teaspoon-just plop it in my mouth and follow with water. Getting ready to start microdosing magic mushrooms too. I have OCD, major depression and anxiety so I am excited to see if my life will change.
Psychedelic is the answer to most severe anxiety and depression. The use of magic mushrooms completely helps one get over depression and makes you feel like yourself.
I can add: Shiitake Mushroom: Heart health support through cholesterol and blood pressure regulation, immune-boosting properties, and potential weight management support.
Great video! Your production is amazing and your information is priceless. Thank you so much for putting your videos together and uploading them to RU-vid. It's really appreciated and I recommend you to my friends!
Hey! My mom is starting now to drink Turkey Tail now, and we have all other Mushrooms that you have in the video for her too, except Cordyceps. She had breast cancer and it happened again, now we find this natural healing beauty. My question is, can you tell me have is the best way to drink them? We have all in powder.
Lion's Mane is rare in the wild where I live in Eastern Canada, but its North American cousin Hericium americanum (aka bear's head tooth) is quite common and just as delicious (sliced and fried in butter, what a delicacy!) Hericium americanum has not been studied as extensively as Hericium erinaceus but it is generally accepted they have the same functional properties.
Scott Blake buy powdered mushrooms from Hybrid Herbs here in the UK. It's one of the best mushroom companies in the world. There Reishi, Chaga, Lions Mane etc is grade A 🍄👌🏾
psychedelics saved me from years of uncontrollable depression, anxiety and illicit pill addiction. Imagine carrying heavy chains for over a decade and then all of a sudden that burden is gone. Believe it or not in a couple of years they'll be all over for treatment of mental health related issues.
Please does anyone know where I can get them ? I put so much on my plate and it really affects my stress and anxiety levels, I would love to try shrooms.
You didn't mention Psilocybin mushrooms. There is more research showing their mental health benefits than the rest of the list combined. The only problem is they are too powerful to be played with. This was a good opportunity to at least talk about them.
I love your products. I hope the debate over mycelium vs. fruiting bodies remains collegial and focused on people's health and public health. There has been no greater proponent of mushroom supplementation than Paul Stamets. His theory of bee colony collapse and thoughts regarding psilocybin and prehistoric human cognitive development were eye-opening. We need not take a side: I take 2 of Stamets' products and 2 of FreshCap's products daily.
What products do you take if you don't mind my asking. . This is my first time ever looking into mushroom supplementation I'm in my 40s dealing with some challenges with brain fog change and a host of other recent changes I'm dealing with. What came to me was mushroom supplementation as a remedy so I started researching. If you can offer any help I'd appreciate it greatly.
@@doctorfeline9911 It was my own 40's when I saw the oldness creep in. I saw my physician, first, as you should, then started exercising to my reasonable limits. If you think the mushrooms would be suitable for you, both Stamets and FreshCap have a multi-mushroom blend. That's what I take, since I am not using mushrooms to treat anything specific. Caffeine isn't for everyone, but I take strong, black tea in the mornings with the mushroom powders to flatten out the energy spike. I am hoping that taking the supplements regularly will have long-term benefits, but the jury may still be out on that.
@@Goo475 Maybe "moderates" is a better word than "flatten." By itself, the black tea I drink will give me a sudden energy boost and then, toward the afternoon, I feel depleted. The mushrooms, for me at least, seems to keep the energy more steady throughout the entire day.
When first getting into mushrooming I found a lot of chaga and long story short, chaga along with cocao that I was mixing it with contain a lot of oxylates which some are sensitive to. Oxylate crystals built up in my joints and kidneys and gave me a lot of trouble. Actually had to go to a urologist who didn't think my urine analysis was correct cuz it had so many crystals. I would add chanterelles to your list as they're delicious and if you turn them gill side up and expose them to the sun, they can absorb up to 10x the amount of vitamin D that they already contain which is key cuz most people are D deficient.
Lemon and better Vinegar can disolve your crystals and stones injust a few days...!!! Try adding Vinegar to water, 2T to 1 cup, and 1/2 lemon... I love this !!!
Super video!the Turkey tail mushroom i have found in my Garden this summmer...And i realized What a gem i have!. I harvested And i Hope next year Will this appear again on stump from nuts tree.

@@jamesdavid7599 great information, I’m really interested in growing mushrooms because they are so healthy for people, which of these would recommend trying to grow and sell?
Amo el perfil científico que le brindas a cada tus videos, pero este específicamente más. Nunca imaginé todos los compuestos necesarios para la nutrición.
After having the most out off body experience on psilocybin, I feel my outlook and plan for my life has changed. I got so much work done in my head in those 6 hours, I really wish it’s that easy to get them here in Texas, I'll be very glad
I’ve been microdosing for years now and it was truly helped me with my trauma. It’s helped with my anxiety, depression & PTSD. Always respect the drug & understand what you want to take from it.
Just wanted to make a correction here - at around the 7:40-7:45 mark is the claim that adenosine is “used to make cellular energy”, which is inaccurate. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is involved in energy production, so I’m assuming that adenosine is being conflated with ATP here. Although ATP is a derivative of adenosine, these are two different (but important) compounds with different (and important) functions. Adenosine promotes sleep, vasodilation, etc. and is an important component of homeostatic regulation of the sleep-wake cycle. Caffeine promotes wakefulness/alertness by INHIBITING adenosine. So yeah…adenosine itself won’t give you energy; it will put you to sleep. ATP is involved in a number of important cellular metabolic processes.
I'm curious, can we not share information with the community on different companies that may also have products that have herbal benefits? Other then what the guy in the video my share?
I did microdosing of ayahuasca when I first started capsules of lions mane mushrooms. when I began to use cheaper lions mane powder (I dont mind the taste) I noticed there was a similar "lightening touch" between the Lions mane and the ayahuasca. I believe the "neurodendritic growth factor compounds" between both ayahuasca and lions mane have a similar action
Since when does ayahuasca or dmt contain any form of “neurodendritic growth factor compounds”? 🧐 How, exactly could dmt even have said compounds when it is a single molecule, a single compound. 🤔 By definition it doesn’t contain ANYTHING other than dimethyltriptammine. 😱 And ayahuasca is only adding some maois to the dmt, often harmine, harmaline and other similar maois. 😒 Anyway, if I’m mistaken I’d very much appreciate if you’d steer me in the right direction to find out more about said compounds being in dmt. Still can’t understand how that can be possible, but interested to find out if it is.
0:08 there are estimated to be about three millions of species of _fungi._ What we call mushrooms belong to basidiomycota, which only has about thirty thousand species.
Well, the only place they grow is where dead shit is, so anyone who eats any kind of mushroom has that same basic thought. Without dead and rotting matter, there would be no mushrooms.
Thanks very much! I'm interested in cultivating lions mene... this is solution to those who had difficult childhood and can help to regenerate their front Brian cortex responsible for the emotions and decision making(book: "emotional inteligence") Thank you🤠
I have a little over 5 pounds of chaga that i picked so ive been drinking chaga tea a lot lately. its great stuff and if you guys want to see how to pick chaga, i have a video up on my channel. (i hope im allowed to say that). This spring im going to see if i can find some turkey tail while im out and about picking chaga and oyster mushrooms.
Thanks for the video 👍👌 i Live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I was wondering what functional mushrooms can we find around this area? And also Around Alberta?, or Canada 🇨🇦 in general. Thanx again. 🍄
I have a mushroom business in Alberta, get yourself the book: Fungal Pharmacy, and hit the woods looking and identifying conks (hard mushrooms) loads in your area, red belt polypore, ganoderma applanatum, (wild reshii) chaga, (and many more medicinal mushrooms that grow on birch tress...etc.
Chaga is my favourite thing to forage. I find plenty where I live. They're hard to find before the leaves drop. The leaves are finally falling. So best time to look soon. They grow primarily on birch trees.
What climate do you live in? My understanding is that chaga requires sub zero temps. I’d love to see if it’s possible to grow where I live but I think it’s too warm here
