The 1967-1972 Chevrolet C/K is one of the most popular, reliable, and easiest-to-drive classic Chevy Trucks. The 2nd generation c/k chevy truck - top 5 problems from 1967 -1972.
In this video we will cover in detail the 2nd generation Chevy C/K built from 1967-1972 for the usa market. Here are some of the specs you might face as an owner of a 2nd generation Chevy c/k truck. If you're looking for a vintage pickup it's hard to go wrong with a second generation Chevy c/k truck. They're great trucks and parts are readily available and they're easy to work on.
Enjoy the video on the C/K Chevy Truck!
C/K is a series of trucks that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1960 to 2002 model years. Marketed by both the Chevrolet and GMC divisions, the C/K series encompassed a wide range of vehicles. While most commonly associated with pickup trucks, the model line also included chassis-cab trucks and medium-duty trucks and served as the basis for GM full-size SUVs. Through its entire production, the model line competed directly against the Ford F-Series and the Dodge D series (later the Dodge Ram pickup).
Used for both the model branding and the internal model code, "C" denoted two-wheel drive; "K" denoted four-wheel drive. Four generations of the model line were produced, including the second-generation "Action Line" and third-generation "Rounded Line" vehicles. For the fourth generation, GMC revised its branding, changing to a singular GMC Sierra nameplate (C/K remained as an internal model code).

My grandfather had a '70 C 30 sling wreaker. I pretty much grew up in that truck. It didn't have the tow truck body on it. It was just bare frame behind the cab with a welded boom coming up at an angle about a foot & a half from the cab. You know the kind of wenches you gotta have someone pulling the hook tight if you're winding it up without a load or slings on the hook. Yeah many a days swing from that hook. But alas my grandfather past away 22 yrs ago. The trucks gone & so is he. 2 of my most favorite things in life. 😌

If I were to get one of these, I think a 2wd with the straight six and a fleetside cab would be just about perfect for me. Better have good A/C though, which I could add (Florida heat and humidity, ugh). Might like a two tone too as they look "vintage". Neat trucks all around, though in truth I think I'd really like a mid-eighties Toyota Hilux truck with an extended cab, 2wd and a five speed/22R engine setup. I had one and it was amazing.

Dad bought a 66 Carryall that took our family of 5 camping for many years! I then bought a 74, C20, 3spd, no power steering, one tuff truck. And I did keep my eye on all the years in between. Thanks for posting!

Wow. We love to hear the family history. I had a 74 as a teen. It was an awesome truck.

Back in the days you put a box on the transmission hump, for the array of screws, bolts and nuts that fell from behind the dash and seats. Dad said the dealer knew where they all went.. Our last Generic Motors creation was a biscayne wagon, which rode horribly and didn't last. Dad might have actually been happier with a 283 or 327; it was all about saving money though, so it was straight-6 with manual three on the column. One local farmer liked the trucks a lot.

I had a 1970 CST/10, which stands for custom sport truck. In 71 they came out with the Cheyenne and Cheyenne super and the custom deluxe. Mine had the cab lights on the top a original toolbox door on the passenger side, and the air condition original. I never seen a 67-72 with that many options together. 350 four bolt main. Had it for 30 years

I had a 1971 C/10 long bed with a 350/350 power train what a truck ! That truck out hauled & towed all the other trucks before & after it until I got my 03 Silverado 1500 4X4 which I still have but it is reserved for towing my travel trailer now ! The thing I did like about my 71 was how reliable it was & how easy it was to work on when needed which wasn't often ! I sold it to buy a used 88 spartan Cheyenne which was a good truck but I soon sold that to buy my current truck ! I also own a 99 C/3500 dually 1 ton dump truck. The 71 was my 1st Chevrolet truck , & sold me on owning Chevrolet trucks since then , Without any regrets . Thanks for the video.

I had a 73 3/4 ton camper special. It got 8mpg, loaded or empty. By the end of its life it was a rusty bucket. My 81 was a gutless 1/2 ton. My 85 constantly broke down. My 82 F150 ran perfectly for 343K miles.

Could you imagine the late 60's/early 70's with, say, one of these trucks and a Nova in the driveway? All you'd really need is a basic SAE wrench and socket set and the knowledge to set your points. You'd open the gas cap way more than you'd have to open the hood...

Had a 72 K-10 I purchased back in 1990 for $4,000. It had just about every option including bucket seats, A/C, and factory tach. I sold it to buy a Jeep CJ-7. Not one of the smartest choices I've made.

I'd be happy to have any Chevy truck up to the late 80's. I wouldn't want anything built since the 2000's. The engines are good. But I don't like anything else about them

Hello! Can you tell me what year the truck in your thumbnail is? I’ve been trying to figure out just what year and model truck my Grandpa had when I was young. So far I THINK I’ve narrowed it down to ‘77 or ‘78. Your thumbnail looks like it might be a dead-wringer for my young memory, right down to the color! But I don’t think it’s in the years covered in this video. I was encouraged that this type of truck may be an affordable way to get into this market…I’m hoping to find an purchase the closest thing to a duplicate of Grandpa’s truck that I can. Thanks in advance!

Never said what CK stood for???????????
@ryanculpepper2654
@ryanculpepper2654 Год назад
It isn't actually CK, it's C/K. The C represents a two wheel drive, and the K is a four wheel drive, i.e. C-10, C-20; K-10, K-20. The GMC's had C-1500, C-2500; K-1500, K-2500. So, if you had a Chevy C-10, it meant: "C", two wheel drive, "10" half- ton.

I’m still waiting for the answer to the video title. I know C is 2WD and K is 4WD, but… why?

And then GM got lazy in the 80s and kept the same half ton truck generation from 73 to 88 with little change and ford ended up surpassing them in the half ton truck market in sales. I mean, Chrysler did the same thing, but Chrysler had an excuse, they simply didn't have the resources at the time to come up with a whole new truck during that time frame. Chrysler was too busy paying back the gov for getting bailed out. they didn't have millions and millions of dollars in research and development at their disposal for a new truck design. GM on the other hand did have, they had the money and then some to design a new or at least a heavily revised version during that time frame, but they just got complacent, instead.

This is when GM used to make really beautiful and really great trucks, nowadays they're trucks are complete garbage.
