This plane is designed to run 4S stock too, so says the manual. I just put a gyro in mine today, it certainly makes harriers in gusty winds more pleasant. What gains do you run? Thanks for doing a follow up, I've watched your original video for inspiration several times.
Already flew it on 4 cells once, it's stupidly overpowered and not in a good way. There's more useful throttle range on 3 cells, but if you enjoy 4, have at it! Join up on Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and feel free to ask for gains there!
@@TwoBrosRC I haven't tried, I think it's plenty fast as is, just thought I'd mention it because I don't think that was covered. Just did, will do, thx 👍
Hi sir....Thnx for the video. I want to put my receiver in the plane and I am seeing people saying that the antenna has to be out of the plane. But it's a foam plane, Do I have to do that? Is your antenna just in the plane? thnx
I have this plane, but seem to have more trouble 3Ding it than you guys, I'm mostly used to 3Ding a profile foamy. Where do you guys have the CG set? Do you use the stock prop?
CG *should* be covered in the vid. As far back as you can get it, basically. All the components sans ESC are stock - the ESC was replaced with a 45 amp Avian for voltage telemetry.
Hi Jon, The link shows a PNP but extra stuff like prop, spinner.... cowl? Does this plane NOT come with these items? Or do they think you're going to crash and need them later? You've pretty much convinced me to get one, but it'll probably be closer to $300 when it comes.
Where do I go to download your model preset files for my NX10 transmitter? Do you have one for the Super Timber? I started with the one on Horizon Hobbys Google Drive, then added thrust reverse, but I'm having a hard time getting crow setup. I'd like to download yours and try it. Thanks
Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord in the #spektrum-radio-setups channel - though if you don't have an IX radio, you won't be able to use any of the setup files until we get a NX radio to help provide more files.
Thanks Jon for the revisit on this plane and great flying as always! I feel I’m not ready for the PA Addiction and my Eratix has seen better days so I’m looking at getting this plane or the Multiplex Acromaster. Is the latter something you’d consider reviewing in the future?
Love this plane! Also love the SMC batteries. May have come across one weakness to the SMCs yesterday, however. Friend flying a Futura 64mm was having his esc beep with the batteries. Do some ESCs not like the SMCs, and are seeing the SMC 4s battery as a 5s battery when it is fully charged?
That's an issue with older ESCs, and pilots not checking the number of beeps prior to taking off as part of their preflight. It happens occasionally but all you need to do is run the battery down a little to just over 16.8v and connect it again.
If you could only have one: The FMS MXS 1100MM, E-Flite Extra 300 or E-Flite Ultimate 3D, which one would you pick? Consider an experienced 3D and Aerobatic Pilot looking for an all around plane. What if you could only pick two of the three?
Based on what we recall, the MXS is the better all-round airframe between all three with the least mod work required to fly well. The Extra and MXS would be the two planes we'd pick over the Ultimate given how much work the Ultimate requires to fly similarly.
I got this one, and apart from the foam hinges, the motor mount is another weak point. After some time it'll become loose, you glue it back to the frame and the same issue will happen back again. Not a keeper, even though it's fun to have a cheap decent 3D foamie. Lack of precision and centering issue for the servos is noticeable too, apart from their slow speed. But you get what you pay for, a low budget rc plane to start 3D with.
Interesting that you ran into issues with the mount! Ours has been through many flights and no issues with the mount whatsoever. Curious if yours was a one-off.
