Welcome to another ''Why not playing Top lane as Toplaner ,is best strategy for Top lane players'' video !! This time featuring Rakan !! What will come next ? Maybe perhaps roaming Crit Thresh with Cleanse and Smite.
chime in 2050 : i found a player who actually plays jayce top, you may think this is trolling as jayce doesn't have a consistent roaming tool, but this korean challenger actually plays on the lane and has found an exploit to generate huge amounts of gold by giving the finishing blow on minions
He is a very underrated player with a lot of recognition in the KR server now. He’s referred to as Eddy 에디. I’ve been a huge fan of him for some years now.
8:29 very glad you included this section, especially about not buying it at the start of the game. Too many people in that other video with the Yuumi seemed to not even know you can still buy "starter items" on your 8th time being at the fountain.
Yeah I get a lot of comments about 'people being inted by my builds', but its hard to MAKE everyone play perfectly. If you are getting a rakan top in silver they are going to suck, but if they play support - they are also going to suck. Just gotta accept your teammates arent reliable i guess
Im starting to see a trend where top laners realize their lane is too much effort for very little impact, whereas support is the opposite conclusion: just play support everywhere lmao
@@HappyChimeNoises i'd say a big contributor is the support items being able to make up for lost gold, even if your gold/min cap is lower, you can spend most of your time roaming or doing something and just go back to a lane every once in a while and get the gold back Goldgeneration efficiency and the support mythics being goos was also a contributor to sona+seraphine lanes being so popular (and successful) even though both laners didnt leave lane until midgame and even got the cs gold reduction it was still so strong that it didnt even matter
While I love Rakan and would love to play him in every role if I could, I think a side effect of these support top videos is that this will mostly work in higher elos where you have skilled teammates to support. I can't replicate this in low elo, where people die on repeat, rage and afk their lanes, no one has good game knowledge to even know what to do with the advantages you give them. Sure ya can dive bot and gank them several times, but whose to say they will even know how to dive, or what to do with their lead in silver or gold? It's why it's safer to play "selfish" in low elo and better to play team oriented in high elo...... Personally I wish Riot would randomly add a few support junglers like they did adding qiyana, talon and zed.... I wanna Rakan jungle or thresh jungle but legitimately....
This! Had a rakan try this vs me as Garen in Silver and it didn't end well for the enemy team, defienetely need good teammates to capitalize on Rakans shenanigans,
Love the addition of the tierlist! Would be awesome if you could revisit older videos of yours to place inside the tierlist? Idk how well you can actually do that, considering they're older patches...
i remember midbeast gragas vid on this guy, this was the one the really made me think about how top lane doesn't matter and how riot may try to make it matter more.
Always look forward to your videos, Chime. Thanks for putting out amazing content as always! Look forward to watching the rest of this Rakan top 👀 P.S. Dan posted the direct link in Discord so I didn't have to wait 10 minutes for YT to refresh properly and put the video on your channel Take care, Chime! Can't wait for game night tomorrow
In the old days there's usually two people on top a 2v2 lane, now there's 1v1 and from the recent top support videos I suspect in the future top gonna be an 0v0 lane
I remember get absolutely steamrolled by a Rakan top a few years back and then I became a believer. Every game after, I went full nuclear Rakan and have become an ascended.
I was playing rakan top in early s11 and played him with everfrost.(normals ofc) I won like 60% of my lanes but we lose. Even if i lose lane i dont lose that hard. This vid showed me how rakan REALLY is played top lmao.
Actually a cool strategy, i have been playing Rakan top S10 onhit for a while and was quite happy with the champ but since the item rework i wasnt able to get a good working build. Might give this a try sometime to revive my rakan top days :D
I've been seeing this crazy players not commiting to their lanes and roaming all the game, even I have played Trind mid with smite, mess with the jng and win, so maybe we are playing this game wrong all along, maybe we need to play two junglers instead, one with the jngle item and the other one with the support item and just dedicated to roaming
One pure jungle, one jungle sp hybrid, one pure sp. People might not like it, but this is peak Riot's 200yrs of gameplay exp at this point. It's kinda capped out
The Meta is only the meta till it isn't. People trying new things is healthy and Riot trying to hardcore enforce it (I am assuming for esports moolah) isn't
I just watched your assassin rakan mid video 2 days ago and have been loving ap rakan mid, seeing this makes me really excited for new off meta rakan, thanks for making these videos it really adds more enjoyment to the game for me!
Slight issue if you want to use this to climb, you kind of rely on your teammates to actually get turrets and finish the game. Low and even mid-elo players are surprisingly bad at getting this stuff done. Rakan is amazing in mid-late game team fights and scales surprisingly well, but you will never be able to take turrets solo. It's not a deal breaker, since the enemy team is just as bad, but it means that you'll get into a lot of games that drag on for much longer than they should. This is another reason why Yuumi top is better. due to her insane scaling she benefits a lot from the longer game times in lower elo.
Says a lot about the state of top Lane where smite Janna and this roaming rakan can both leave Lane for 20 minutes at the highest level of Challenger and still hold a chance at winning the game.
As a Rakan main I actually bring predator to roam and the influence you can have is so good, just have to be careful to keep your adc alive at the same time. It's so fun!
Remember back in the day before Hunter's Machete where the jungler was pretty much a second support? We're pretty much turning another role into a second support very slowly.
Honestly, this strategy will only work in high elo since noone plays split-pushers there. If in low elo, people actually play splitters like Yorick and would end the game while ur picking kills
with all these amazing, strange, but beautifully working, hundreds of off-meta builds, I am sure that all these amazing builds will become meta and something like rakan support is gonna become off meta and people are gonna say that rakan support = troll xD Keep up the great work !!! We all love these off-meta builds!!! And most of all congrats on 150k!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like shen and pantheon are ideal counters to these roam strategies. Their massive ults are perfect for making a bigger impact and counter gank to the roams and with better cs and Laning phases they're just perfect for beating these cheese roam picks
@@redloopy this rakan doesn't farm, that's the point. Shen can only push waves with autos and empowered autos so rakan can literally w the casters and just afk run on the map and shen will never get a turret if he's going full tank. if he builds for split then you're already denying his ult potential since he wants to be in a sidelane all game at that point and not tping to allies
As i was watching, I thought this to myself: how cool would it be if an ezrael player were to ult at a low hp newbie. And at the same time, that newbie was testing stop watch and just activate stop watch as soon as ezrael ult came.
Honestly that makes a lot of sense that ensuring your allies get ahead or just not feed instead of focusing on yourself makes it more likely for you to win.
Ah yes the taric top. Now we have rakan top! Playing him damage mid was fun but didn't consider top. Roaming too. Back at it again a banger of a video! I love these off meta picks. Spices up the game rather than repeating the same ol meta champs.
I accidentally found this strategy the other day after getting filled to top and deciding to play Rakan, of course I wasn’t using optimal runes but it’s still incredibly potent.
Kinda funny to see these dota meta things coming into league. I've been seeing a lot of non traditional laners maining the "roam" position lately; won't be surprised if this continues to be the trend moving forward
I'm one tricking Taliyah in Ranked this year and I currently have about a 73% winrate. I'm in Bronze rn and have never been higher then Silver, so I'm proud of that winrate. Oh, and I've played mostly Taliyah APC (67% winrate), some Jungle (75% winrate), and a little bit of Support (100% winrate, but only 1 game this season so far).
All these support tops work because enemy teams don't know how to defend and punish them. It could work once or twice as a cheese to reverse a series but the answers in a coordinated environment are kind of apparent. Defend the tower dives and not feed. That's all. Then win by gold advantage
You probably don't pick rakan into yorick cuz u kinda just get stomped but then again he can't really kill you so if he ever overextends you and jungle shit on him and then you go back to roaming after pushing out wave
I agree with this player on never taking flash. Unless you have a champion where a flash engage is useful (for me I take it on Illaoi for ult), it is really jsut a tool to correct when you misposition. If your positioning is well done, you really never need flash. Ghost is much better for the roster of champs I play.
Flash is overrated. Ghost can create a lot of new opportunities that people usually don't expect. I don't even know why Baus plays Sion with flash with his style.
HappyChimeNoises is actually cute lol Great video as usual With so many off meta top laners having positive otucome it is now likely to be proven that top lane does not contribute on the game. (P.S. just my take)
I like this recent wave of off meta picks where they take a champ that doesn't need much farm top them ditch the lane a couple minutes in and never return.
