This week, we take a look at the new Aqua Terra. Combining 2 decades of enhancements, this watch is dripping with delicious details. The question is: Could this be the last watch you need?

I visited the San Francisco Omega boutique today. I was served champagne and treated like a millionaire. I'm retiring in a few months, and owe myself a present. The hostess gushed over my Citizen Eco-Drive placed on the counter. I tried on several variations of the Aqua Terra. We narrowed my field of interest. The Small Seconds shown in this video will be the last watch I will ever need. WatchCrunch guy, you rock.
@@mikaxms Agreed. I just came across this small seconds Omega AT model on Sunday. By Monday night I had ordered it directly from the Omega website. It was in my hands on Thursday afternoon. It was kind of nice to settle on a watch you really want, and just order it right then. No hoops to jump through, no preferred customer only nonsense. It was in stock on their website, and me as a first time Omega buyer, purchased it right then and there. Couldn't be more pleased with the watch, and with Omega in general.
I like the new small seconds. I just wish the 38mm want specifically marketed to women. I find the 41 too large for my 6.5" wrist. It probably fits fine, but visually it takes up too much wrist real estate for my wrist.... Just stands out more than I would like. The watch itself is an interesting combination of vintage and modern.
One of the best watch channels! Love your content man! I looked at this piece in person at a boutique and pictures just don't do it justice. It's such a gorgeous piece. I just wish it came in 38mm. I think the 41mm case and thickness is a little too large for my wrists. Must prefer a sub 40mm case so that it can be more subtle.
Not trying to take anything away from Omega, they are producing some great watches but they are definitely gaining more business with the bullshit everyone needs to put up with when trying to buy a Rolex.
I love this review. I appreciate what you said about the seconds dial. I'm not a fan, but hearing the way you articulate your affinity for the seconds movement and relate it to the entire dial is really cool.
I really love this watch. Tried it on at an AD. The colorway presents quite bright, by that I mean it looks almost sparkly. Tough decision between this and the green with a central second. I think the green has a slightly more business look, whilst the small second is more casual. Not a fan of the PCL on the green dial, but could imagine it on a rubber strap
When you factor in the ability to change straps of differing materials without ruining the asthetic. You have yourself a classy, sporty, functional chameleon of a piece. Great review! I need this watch!!!!
I still prefer the central seconds version, but I fully agree that the AT is the best GADA watch, if you want to call it in this way 😉. It's versatile, it has a great movement and it looks amazing. And it's an Omega. I do not need anything more than this.
While I can understand your reasoning behind preferring a small-seconds dial over centre-seconds (and I happen to agree with time-only dress watches), I'm honestly not a fan of the sub-dial design on the 41mm models, both for its contrasting chapter ring and the way the date juts out the bottom of the ring (this is less noticable on the silver dial variant). If the 41mm used the much simpler 38mm sun-dial (the non-diamond one, anyway) I think I'd be a little more interested, but otherwise it's the centre-secpnds model for me. All of that said, everything else that you said to describe the Aqua Terra Small-seconds also describes the "regular" Aqua Terra, and are the reasons why I agree that the entire Aqua Terra line can be considered the best GADA watch on the market. Also, when you were listing some alternatives, you left out the best one: the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium.
@@SD-vy9ek He explains it in the opening seconds of the video; it stands for "Go Anywhere, Do Anything". I've also heard them described as "beach to boardroom" watches, for their ability to be dressed up in a suit, yet also worn in casual settings (and also why at least 100m WR is recommended).
As an owner of the previous AT Blue w/o subdial, gotta say prev AT is a strong GADA contender. The 2500 mvt variant has sloping case crown guards which I find a more appealing case, and fully brushed bracelet which tops off a super GADA contender as well. Great review M...thanks for sharing!
My GADA watch of choice is the Omega Speedmaster Professional. Pair it with various straps and it can go from classy to tool watch to casual and even further. Worked great for me so far 👌
Jogging (80s), footing (90s), running, ... now we only have "runners", and nobody uses the appropriate Spanish word (correr/corredor) in my country Spain 😅.
Love the watch, love the colour, love the strap, love the minute track border, love the size! Not too sure about the crown. On balance. . . they nailed it!
No one is talking about the dial as a whole! It’s a reverse sandwich dial!!!! The bottom portion is all white and the blue portion is cut out and placed on top. All the markers are also applied and the depth is incredible. It’s seriously a must see in person!!!
Thank you for the excellent video, I just picked up a blue face Aqua Terra 41 on blue strap, after a long time of lusting after it. The small hands is an excellent version and I like it nearly as much, your visualization of the movement is something I haven't seen on any other channel. Will be watching more of your videos.
Great Video, I have been Eyeing this exact watch for 2 years now, when I stopped in at The Boutique I was initially interested in the White dial version on bracelet, I tried on this Blue one on with the rubber strap and I was “in Love”. It felt so great on wrist and it was so pleasing to the eyes. I have to go back and Try on again. Christmas is coming. 😂
I cofounded a discussion platform called WatchCrunch.com. I talk about it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k_0Hvciis4w.html
Love the videos - as ever. Tried this watch on today and loved it. However, I have a favour to ask. Would you mind telling me where you got the herringbone brown jacket, you wear in the intro? Looks awesome and would like to get one similar. Thanks again for the great content 👍🏻
Brilliant review! Bravo! This model has a magical aspect to it - on top of everything you said, due to its face design - the contrasting outer ring and the small seconds section - looks smaller on the wrist than the central seconds model, which makes it suitable for your and my 6.5 inches wrists! In this way we can enjoy all the advantages of the 41mm model with the 8916 caliber, including the ability to independently set the hour hand. Brilliant!
Can only agree to this. My wrist is also 6.5 inches and this AT version (unlike the regular one) works quite well. I purchased the same blue/grey color way and enjoying it for two months now 😊. Quiet rotor, jumping hour, extreme accuracy (+0.3sec/day), and beautiful design are a joy!
…this watch dial is a hype…i guess watch designed for college boy graduation gift…a prissy busy over complicated dial with the ever popular overlapping date/seconds…in a two-tone finish ? poor poor taste…
GADA, GOAT GETTA…doesn’t really matter, wear what you like (and can afford) and enjoy the beauty of a piece of functional jewelry. Watch geeks are just silly…I know because I’m one of them. Cheers!
Gorgeous...I had the first generation. Lovely watches. Kind of wish they were under 12mm thick... and a solid case back. But that's just me...my GADA is Explorer 36mm or an Omega.. maybe Railmaster
I was lucky enough to get a Explorer 39mm on retail when it came out ;) it is my GADA but if not surely the Omega Speedmaster or a Cartier Santos could do as well :)
It is an amazing watch. But with the small seconds it is just a little bit too dressy for jeans style in my opinion. + High polished surfaces are really bad for everyday use, I have the problem with my DJ and that is why I wear my SMP Diver more regular. A friend of mine has the simple black dial Aqua Terra, which is an amazingly versatile timepiece.
Nice video and concept. I prefer the older model, the Aqua Terra with the horizontal teak marks. I agree with you that the withe portion of the small seconds and on the chapter ring should have been way thinner for more elegance. Also the date function should had been moved to the 3 o clock position for less cluttering. Thank you for such a nice review.
Commented the title without watching the video: Because the mugging for the watch ended up being rather graphic? Afterwards: A superb good analysis once again, thanks a ton! I treat your videos as ASMR of sorts. At this stage I'm quite positive you pay people not to follow this channel :) The strap looks sexy and comfortable, however I'm only familiar with leather and metal. How do rubber ones compete against silicone straps? My intuition says silicon feels the best and is also the future, but then again I've said the same about most of my exes (talking about chemistry and not any possible implants here).
I have this watch since a few days, and it is much nicer in real life, the dial is just so special you can't take your eyes off, for me it is the perfect watch, highly recommend it!
Awful word GADA. But for me the best GADA watch is the Longines legend diver with the blue dial. It's simply beautiful and elegant, and with the super compressor case, you can do whatever sport you want.
I have this exact watch and I love it. I was able to work a trade including my navy blue BB58 for a brand new one of these. I haven’t missed the Tudor once … this watch delights me!!
I purchased my Omega and Rolex @ the same time..Omega Moon..and Rollie..white gold day/date..I adore both..BUT the Omega I couldn't live without now..the perfect watch for GADA
I have an AT two tone since 2010. Since it is timeless never out of fashion. I strongly recommend this watch to everybody. Remember Omegas are a little bit more fragile comparer to a Rollie but they will due
Mine is the blue 39mm first iteration 2503.80 serviced 2 years ago, a great GADA. Small note : the very tip of the hour hand on the 2503.80 looks very "pointy". Less so with the iterations that followed. Re similarities with 5711, also see the buckle on the first version.
Nice! However an everyday watch should be subtle and understated. IMHO, Rolex air king 34 mm. Blue dial. Stainless steel bracket. The most compliment received because it screams class.
Well it's not the type of "update" that it needs at all, in fact it's another step in the wrong direction for the AT line. They should have simply "updated" it with the two-part wide 12 marker like the original 2002 AT's had, that would make it a great watch again, WTF is wrong at Omega!
This watch has a major flaw: the small seconds dial. It's actually a small 5-seconds dial because it lacks seconds indices, and only has 5-second indices. All that for a huge price increase? No thanks. I'll keep the normal model. There is NO POINT in including a seconds dial if you don't show all of the seconds.
"last" watch? does not compute. hahah! If there is such a thing, this could be it. for me, it'd have to be a true icon, like an Explorer, Santos/Tank or Speedy. I don't go diving anyway, so water resistance is not as high on the criteria list.
Yeah this particular pretty blue dial caught my attention. That rubber strap with the on the fly adjustment gives it a smart casual appearance I guess you could buy the bracelet version for a more formal look but I don’t really like Omega bracelets so the rubber would get my vote. The small seconds aperture doesn’t bother me, this after all being a sports orientated piece not a JLC MUT Moon for example. Shame Omega just jacked their prices, but I’d expect a healthy discount anyway for a shop window piece. Great review.
Not a fan of the normal Seamaster, I think it’s ugly. However, the Aqua Terra sits at the other end of the spectrum. Every version is wonderful and this variant would definitely appear in my collection.
I don't like the additional information all around the date. Makes the eye really go toward the small seconds, which is usually an OK deal, but NOT when the dial is so incredibly done. I like the beauty of the dial being the only eye catching issue. I REALLY don't like the extra color around the small seconds - again, catches the eye and distracts from the wonderful dial.
“Frantic little sibling” Zenith : “hold my beer!” Great video. I love this watch, but I did just recently get the silver dial original model. I do think they are both spectacular, but that date window in the small seconds area bothers me a tad. Just one of those little preferences. Awesome videography as usual Max
Not buying a watch that has a small seconds on a 41mm case. Also the white border on the small seconds doesn't work well. Omega should look back into its past if it wants to do a dress watch. This watch doesn't make the cut.
I saw this watch at my AD and I am smitten. Love the colors, the small seconds, and the rubber strap looks like leather. Like the clasp too. I may go look again, which may lead to Christmas present for me! Good video, nice production value.
