Yea, ever since your jenna video my games have been littered with people trying either Janna or Pyke top. Please never cover that ever again, the strategy is so degenerate. It ruined the games for both teams they were in
@@markwalker3510 His video came out after the strat took off. There was a player in masters doing it and RossBoomsocks made a video on him, then HCN made their video, and now Laurlo (a pro player) is spamming it in soloq
I remember playing AP Gnar in season 5 or 6, it was a load of fun ! He really suffered from the lack of manaless burst mage items and increase of mobility with newer champions and items over the years, i never tried it with everfrost but it sounds quite interesting
i knew this moment would come... i was messing with mid gnar (altho just usual bruiser build), it felt good. also liked press the attack for early power, especially into assassins. but the big problem is low waveclear so most other midlaners will quickly shove you in.
I love Gnar so much but the fact that hes not a very reliable pick in solo queue made me stop playing him, but now I got a new way to play him. Thanks a lot!
One of the reasons I love these videos is they break down so much information like powerspikes, teamfight strategy, lane management, macro and all this other stuff. Honestly it's interesting to get these perspectives because it's information that I can apply to all of this game. I know you used to do meta character analysis, but that was before your channel had a big spike in popularity / production value. I think a lot of people would like to see meta flavor of the month breakdowns with interviews from high level / pro players with similar levels of information and tips from knowledgeable players. Thanks for the videos! Currently I've been playing Chemtank / Sterraks Gage Tryndamere with Fleet Footwork in the jungle for anyone who wants something fun to try (The items have insane synergy with Tryndamere's extremely overloaded base stats/ growth per level). :D
AP Gnar? Ok Janna top is already being picked a lot in SoloQ right now, and now we have something that might actually give LS an aneurysm since his hatred for Gnar in pro play is weird and hilarious, and building AP is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I tried out Gnar AP a little while ago but did it top lane and had good results still. Will have to try it midlane. I had similar runes however I went full AP going deathcap instead of defensive items like the wits end or death dance. A lot more dmg but much squishier. Its a feast or famine build but really fun, i strongly recommend going Dark seal as early as possible because ideally you want to be snowballing. This is where going mid instead of top is more beneficial and definitely something i gotta try out. Mid champs like assassins will be much harder to kite than the big chunky top laners tho
im one of those aram only players but one of my favorite things is playing everything as support or utility. old glp + ghosties was so fun on so many. new glacial and everfrost KINDA recreates how fun that time was for me. but anyways this was a treat to watch, ef is so fun. thanks!
Remember kids that this build was played by a professional who understands the game and this champ almost flawlessly please try it out a few games in normals before jumping into soloq :D
You can boil it down to most value out of passive. Lethal and the cc item give more stacks to reach big form. Mid lane has more wall areas for ult, deaths dance makes sure you get to big form before dying.
also remember the Gnar player, when you look back past 5 months had a small section where they did play the AP build provided about 90-100 games then there are about 10 or so games with just a AP component in it out of the 864 games
Somehow I wasn’t subbed and forgot about your channel ;-; now I’ve found it again, subbed, and am binging cuz why not ^^ Remembered the Taliyah support pick after I saw it played in NA Masters yesterday (and yeah, she got fed)
I just started playing AP Gnar on mid, after neglecting my W top lane and doing, kinda eh. But then I tried this, before I found this video, and it's insane. AP Gnar is beautiful.
Hello, I have arrived to remind you of the Expert Challenger Advice Remember you have to hit Ctrl + 3 coming out of base 6 times, then emote thumbs up twice, which will increase your chances of winning by approximately 0.314% Kidding Thanks for always making amazing videos each week to look forward to, Chime! I'm glad I could provide you with some Expert Challenger Advice™to assist. Gnar looks like he's zoomin' ~ gotta run fast P.S. Everfrost is P.P.S. Wonder if Gnar's going to need to order some Keeps soon 🤔He seems quite hairy, but perhaps he's under 35 P.P.P.S. No dark purple (jk it's OK thumbnail looks lovely still)
I personally have been running the run fast af gnar damage build which is eclipse into either randuins or wits end depending on damage match up its with lethal tempo its still very good in late game with both mega and mini gnar.
AP Gnar used to be extremely strong, it got nerfed back in the day because it was so much better than AD Gnar. Cool to see someone keeping the dream alive, although this is midlane so it's a bit more unique!
What? They've never nerfed AP Gnar, it's legitimately only ever received buffs since his release. He didn't have an AP ratio on R on release, that was added later, originally at 50% but later buffed to 100%. They've made minor adjustments to the flat base damage of mini W, but have never touched it's AP ratio and they've only ever increased it's cap against monsters. There may have been times where AP Gnar got an indirect nerf due to item nerfs, like Nashor's, but they've never targeted AP Gnar for being stronger than AD.
So a disadvantage of playing gnar is that he depends on his team to do followup on his ult, but this build has the same problem, everfrost into ult is really good if you aren't the only one dealing damage. A classic gnar doesn't stand a chance against irelia in the lategame but at 8:35 he is 2 levels ahead. Using lethal tempo and botrk+bruiser items you could have done the same while being less squishy . That way mini gnar is still quite the threat in teamfights and mega gnar is still a beast after his ult is on cd.
if it's against you probably easy win and if it's ranked freelo, seeing as the gnar player themself mainly got to master with the standard AD/bruiser gnar build
Love these videos. They are very intressting and fun to watch. Sadly since they became popular people that have no idea how to play Janna top for example are trting these strategies in soloq based on these kind of videos. And that lone can make the game less enjoyable when someone is trying to abuse " more simple" strategies to gain free elo.
Same stuff with champs that are considered meta: people play "broken" champs for the first time in ranked, thinking that they can easily steamroll their way out of Bronze straight to Grand Challenger+. Every LoL video has to be taken with a grain of salt. Yes AP Gnar is broken in the right hands, but so is basically every other champ. The champion alone won't make you play better.
i actually also technically play an off meta gnar build, i dont like playing him tank and if i do wanna play tank i just play support, i build gnar more like a bruiser with triforce, black cleaver, wits end, warmogs (for the hp regen), and maybe sterraks
finally gnar mid getting the recognition it deserves, hes great w the bruiser build aswell in mid but the ap one would probably be better , imma have to try it
Deaths dance needs a lot of bonus AD to get back to the original level of survivability pre changes. The inclusion of magic dmg is nice but on gnar its worse vs ad targets than before right now.
my build is BORK with atk speed boots and then Tan Items. With Lifesteal i get sustain and minignar damages pretty ok. As mega gnar i need walls or a team to help me in fights.
Hot take incoming: Gnar is one of League's worst designed champions. It's not that any one ability is bad, but that his overall kit doesn't feel cohesive. The biggest problem is not being able to control when his ult goes off, and the opposing team being able to see when it is coming up. Many of the problems with Gnar could be solved by just making his ultimate something you can pushbutton when his rage is full, perhaps with the downside of his rage depleting when he is out of combat.
I was also confused when he said that, not knowing that the enemies have stopwatch/zhonyas would make this game so much harder than simply pressing tab
I like how all of these videos are people trying to fix weaknesses their character has using tools not entirely 'ment' for their champs its very intresting
Cool build on Gnar and amazing video as always but that fight against Irelia wasn't because of the build. She was 2 levels behind and Couldn't Q the minions cause of Baron buff. A normal Gnar might not have oneshot her but he would still win.
Technically spending gold on mana is never "actually" wasted gold because every item with mana on it (except tear items) is a gold efficient purchase without considering the mana
Love how he is talking about suprising enemies and then you go into bronze-gold game and 4 out of 5 picks are from his channel :> its good for the game but just funny af
Sidenote: you dont get lost chapter. You are supposed to build the other components first leaving the chapter for last, and even avoid buying it if possible (by building the completed item when u have enough gold) unless you need that bit of extra AP it gives u. So you build kindle, blasting wand & x2 amp tomes
another note: The gnar player only played the ap build for fun in a small amount, total games done past 5 months 864 games, out of those 112 ish games went with the ap on hit route shown in the video or bought a ap component. Meaning the gnar player mainly went to master as Bruiser/AD gnar preferred roles Top->Mid
These build ideas for champs get so ridiculous - I challenge HappyChimeNoises to randomly create one video where he fakes one build idea and pretend that it actually go someone to master+ when in fact it doesn't work at all. He could also imagine a story for a player who got high elo with the build. The viewers then have to guess each video whether it's actually fake or not :D
Regarding the waste of money on mana, wouldn't Riftmaker be a good mythic option? It gives Gnar good sustain and true damage so I think it could be good. Probably gonna try to build it after I play a few games with everfrost to see how it compares to it
to a degree, the gnar player themself mainly got high in elo as AD/Bruiser Gnar in Top, you can look back past 5 months of games about 864 games as of this post. where 100 or so games where done last month as ap
as a gnar main : lmao what the fuck BUT also i think i will need to try this, some matchups are almost unplayable and this ap route might juste be stupid enough to work vs meta picks ty chime
