In motocross (and anything involving dirt bikes), whips and scrubs are done very often, too often, actually. Why is this? Why is the whip such a big deal?!
Great video! You explained the concepts of whips very well with good detail. I only commented because I was surprised when I saw you were a small channel and the video didn't have any comments! You'll be big soon bro! Peace!
i come from a bmx background and if i had to live with only one move the rest of my life it would be the whip. It's the move i enjoy the most and you just feel like dancing with your bike in the air, nothing in the world beats that feeling.
Wrong. The term exists because the purpose is literally to "scrub off speed". The whole point is to stay as low as possible over the jump in order to get the tires back on the ground as soon as possible to continue driving forward. No tire on ground = no forward acceleration
It’s debatable whether or not scrubs are whips. In the sense all scrubs are whips but not all whips are scrubs. Scrubs follow the common esteemed definition of whips.
Lol "sea bounce" It's called a "seat bounce"or "seat hop" because you preload the bike off the lip of a jump whip seated in order to get more height. Otherwise sick video!
You can maybe spot the riders eased foot mid whip, when he wants to turn back straight he tenses his feet again (whole body) and forces another rotation onto the bike. the bike acts as a counterweight aswell (if thats the right term) so you can use ur whole body as "one muscle" pushing against it. And since that heavy bike is well balanced (heavy engine in the middle, less weight towards the outsides) you can turn it easily with ur body. I think its cool how u can spot that the forward motion isn't really being influenced by any rotational motion the rider is doing thus giving you the pause of newtons laws^^
The real answer is that the pistons in the motor act like a gyro and naturally want to bring the bike back to the way it started out. That’s why they gas the shit out of the bikes to make the engine spin faster
When guys look like they're about to complete a 360 but instead do an insane almost backward facing whip, is that a different kind of whip or just an accentuation of the same trick? Ahhh dude nvm I skipped ahead and pressed pause, commented here, and as soon as I pressed play, the video began explaining the two primary kinds of whips haha
great video but motocross isn't the dirt bike category of sports, motocross its one of the categories inside dirt bike motorsports and whips and scrubs are different, whips are for style, and scrubs are for going faster up jump faces and reaching the ground quicker for more ground/acceleration time.
wow, they actually face backwards... high jump? that's kool. I saw the half pipe thing recently. Raha is the best at that. I like how there actually is a function at times, like the scrub or trejectory correction.
