I am talking about some 1:43 scale models to explain why I am not focusing on those small models and instead prefer 1:18.
Also - sorry for the wrong lip sync. I need to buy a separate microphone that I will attach to my t-shirt next time and do a little better wit the timing. This is actually my first multi-cam video, so not really perfect.

To me,1/43 scale is the best because it has the biggest options as models from every brand,its my hobby and my passion!
@ImperialDiecast
@ImperialDiecast 5 лет назад
Yeah 1/43 is a great scale to collect because: - models come with hard plastic transparent box so you dont need to worry about display case or dust - you can collect many without running out of space - still have good exterior detail (and even interior if you take a magnifying glass) - a lot of them are reduced in price, e.g. $40 ones selling for $15. It is perfect for people who are ok with nothing opening.
@ExternalStar
@ExternalStar 5 лет назад
You listed only the pros, but let me also give you cons: - nothing opens - small and hard to enjoy - doesn't attract attention of home visitors :) - cannot be enjoyed from a distance (from a sofa) - it is missing some details, cannot be easily customized
@ImperialDiecast
@ImperialDiecast 5 лет назад
@@ExternalStar True, but I like using them as a decoration for my desk, next to all the papers. Motivates me when doing boring office work lol. Sadly I cant do that with my 1/18s, they would be too big and distracting to put next to you while working. They look best on the shelf (also for visitors, as you said).

Some minichamps suck in quality, some IXO now are so dissapointing, ..... its awefull, you want a car in 1/43 you see it online and you buy it for 25euro and you think its a great deal for a minichamps, then you get it and realize its a weak representation of the real car with a lot of flaws. I really hate it, they all want to make money as much and as fast as possible before model car collect world start to collaps. Its all about selling and mass production. 1/43 (ish) was the original size for diecast toy cars, so from a historical point of view, this scale is important. Cars of this size have been made since before WWII, the earliest ones often being sort-of-generic, meaning that they were inspired by real cars, without necessarily looking like them. The trend of accuretely modeling real cars really took off after WWII. Up through the 50s and 60s the cars improved tremendously, but as early as the mid 1950s, toy makers liker Dinky Toys created some amazingly detailed castings, even if the cars had no glazing and consisted of just a tinplate base with axles and wheels and a 1-piece diecast body. Dinky's american cars of the 1950s, in particular, are stunning. The deep grilles (sharkmouth era) often had a richness of details that even modern diecasts are struggling to beat. The 1960s brought a plethora of opening parts and "working features", but rising costs and the arrival of HotWheels on the toy car scene ended the golden era in the early 1970s. Up until then, the emphasis of toy car makers had been on authenticity, fetaures and detail, but the HotWheels concept was one of speed, bling and "wow-factor", and their cars were soon selling like hotcakes with a much better cost/profit ratio than the elaborate cars of the past, so the whole toy car industry either followed the HotWheels concept... or went bust. The modern day Bburago Streetfire cars more or less match the all-time low of the toy car history standards. They have windows and interior, but as this video points out, the quality of both is so poor, that it almost detracts from the overall impression of the cars rather than improve. The flimsy plastic wheels are far worse than the metal wheels with rubber tires as used in even the early 1950s, but worst of all, the castings are far, far inferior to the 1950s, pre-glazing models. Thankfully the 1/43 scale models have returned with a vengeance, but now as collectors models for adults, while cheap toy cars like Bburago, Kinsmart and others (many don't even have names) now serve the children's market. Bburago cars are not meant for collectors, they are inexpensive, discardable toys for young children, so using them to illustrate why this scale is not suitable for serious collectors is... simply not fair. Thankfully you also show a couple of better models in the shape of the Mondeo and the Skoda, but even they are not anywhere near the peak of what 1/43 scale models can offer. On the subject of opening parts, I think that most of us keep our models on static display in cabinets, so whether or not any parts would theoretically open, rarely becomes a factor. When I grew up in the 1960s, I loved to be able to open the doors and hoods of my toy cars, making the play much more immersive, but nowadays I don't really care anymore. I'm fully satisfied with looking at my models in their cabinets. In the video, you "accidentally" mention one of the main reasons for collecting 1/43 when you say that the Skoda wasn't available as a Combi (wagon) in 1/18th scale... While 1/18th offers a wide selection of models, there are also lots and lots of gaps. Quite logical, really, if you consider how relatively young this scale is compared to 1/43, where you can get almost anything you can possibly think of. If you're mainly into modern supercars and/or luxury cars, then 1/18th scale covers it pretty well, but if one's taste (like mine) is more towards european and japanese family cars of the last 75 years, then it's a completely different story and a 1/18th collection simply won't be an option unless you're willing to lose out on a whole bunch of favorites. And then, of course, there's the all-important space issue. Even if 1/18th scale were to offer the same selection as 1/43, it would require a dedicated mansion to display a collection of cars big enough to give an impression of automotive history. Even in 1/43 it's a problem, but at least any models not on display can be stored in a way that they're easily accessible., while 1/18s are so big, that you'd soon have to start using attics and basements for models not on display. While most of my collection is in 1/43th scale, I also have 1/18s and I have to admit that I love them for their detail and size (treasures include Morris Minor, Volvo Amazon, Volvo PV544, Fiat Abarth 1000 TC, DKW Junior and Auto Union 1000S) so it's not that I don't appreciate that scale, it's just that for me, at least, 1/43 is more suitable.

Space becomes a big issue when you live in an apartment and have over 200 models. I completely agree on opening parts, I really liked it when I was a kid and used my cars mainly as toys, but now I try not to even touch it much. Level of details is a bargain, but then again, there are some manufacturers that make really good models, very detailed.
@ImperialDiecast
@ImperialDiecast 4 года назад
agree with the comment except putting kinsmart in the same category as 1/43 bburagos. kinsmart is a slightly bigger scale (1/30s) and are inconsistent in that they dont stick to one particular scale, but otherwise their exteriors are much better than 1/64 hot wheels millions of people love across the world, and they also have opening features and pullback mechanisms which pleases the kids. But you can still put them in your display shelf and from a distance they look convincing, its just that their wheels and interior are bad.

1:43 is so satisfying, it fits perfectly in your hand. Instead of leaving on the showcase, i put it on its wheels and admire the car. 1:43 is not a time period of the video's duration, i am referring to the scale of the cars.

It all depends on the detail! in 1.43 scale there are also highly detailed items and with opening elements. And the presented Buragos are, of course, toys, not scale models, and there is no point in comparing them. Perhaps, of course, someone collects toys - the collectors are strange people). At the same time, there are large toys around 1.18 scale - but they are also just toys) People choose this or that scale for various reasons: the necessary place, what they started collecting first and so on. There are many reasons, and the price is not the main in all this - after all, there are expensive models in any scale, and when it's multiplied by the number of figures, it can turn out to be huge even when collecting toys for 2 euros

Hello, I am a collector of Bburago cars 1/43 and I really love it. Like the @GK Modelcar Universe said, they have that some special charm and I really love it. The main problem of Bburago is that they are bought from China and now they produce the models and they dont care about details. But the old Bburago's that are made in Italy, are very good and a lot lot better quality.

The low end bbuaro cars you have here are producced and sold not to be a collector's item but to played with by kids. Bbuaro actually produces nicer 1/43 cars in their signature series line. That is what you should of had here instated of smearing dirt on a particular brand's lower end toy car line 😩

I collect 1/43 and have about 40 models on display all parked diagonally on a glass shelf. Mainly Citroen Type H vans, Rolls-Royce and Bentleys...with a Trabant, two Vauxhalls, a Morris Traveller, Austin 1800 and few others thrown in. I'm fussy over the quality and usually only buy Oxford Diecast, Vanguards or IXO But I do have other makes. The quality difference can be amazing. Burago are just too cheap, I wouldn't bother with em, same as Corgi or Matchbox, too much like toys than models. I do like Corgi Vanguards they are all excellent, highly detailed with models such as my Vauxhall Victor even having metal windscreen wipers! I recommend 1/43 as they can be fine representations of the cars and don't take up a third as much space as 1/18 and its space that's the issue. If you have a BIG room with lots of shelves and space then waheeey its 1/18 all day all the way, if not then its 1/43 for you and me!
