Great video, im a collector of lionel of all vintages and the other great manufacturers. The knuckle head rivet counters do everything they can to keep this hobby from expanding into the younger generations by discouraging mass production of reproduction sets. Most of the cottage industry manufacturers have created reproductions and variations of originally issued sets that big L, AmFlyer, Ives, McCoy through the decades. All the sudden, Mike Wolf tries to recreate reproductions that are true to their original predecessors (with modern features) and the rivet counters and collectors get up in arms about it. They just are worried they're collections will be devauled and thats all there is to that argument. I love reproductions because you can actually RUN them and put wear and tear on them. Great video, buy what you want without shame my friends.
Marx guy here, as well as a prewar tin lover. I salvage, restore, and run. At present I`m attempting to squeeze a Marx S/R motor into a prewar Flyer 420 Cast All Brass Trimmed Shell.
Nothing against repros and reissues, a lot of my accessories are as they were more affordable than the collector's item originals. All of my tinplate trains are originals funnily enough. I wanted replicas, but they're often just as or more expensive as the repros are collectibles themselves now.
