Most of the trees planted by the govt are exotic trees which are non native, India has got such a diverse range of tree species. Unfortunately we are not only destroying the native bio diversity, we are replacing it with all exotic species
We have been planting lot of jack and Pongame which are native and useful to farmers Also, if a tree has adopted to local conditions it is local, no more exotic. Forest dept indeed promotes lot of local species, like arali, aala, honge, bevu.....
@@shashikmr While I am not opposed to planting exotics trees, it should not be the norm. Birds, insects and animals have a intricate symbiotic relation with native tree and plant species. An exotic tree might adopt to the local conditions but will not full fill the role of a native tree. Also care must be taken while planting exotics as they have the risk of becoming invasive
