Why Trove Feels Unrewarding And Why People Quit 

got so early that 720p wasn't even a option xd but yeah, this game got lots of problems sadly, gameplay wise is pretty fun, but I just wish this game did borrow from Cube World some stuff, they can't sadly rework the whole game but Cube World got something right, and it was big open world with enemies that had different levels and NPCs which I really want to see in Trove, trading to get better gear or to upgrade it with special effects maybe like Cube World had would be also pretty cool, quests were also nice, like to clear a specific Dungeon in the zone, Trove could also have this but the world is too small and everything is randomized each time you enter the world so this idea probably wouldn't work but quests are nice little goals that make the game at least a bit more interesting also there's another thing that I wish was fixed and it is stats, we got both inflation of Flux and of our stats, it's to be honest crazy that from like 100 damage at the beginning we can do billions of damage per hit, no wonder why they decided to use 64 bits, but yeah a fix for this would be nice, stats should be more balanced so we could have proper combat in this game where you are not a glass cannon that gets oneshot or way too tanky to die, there should be balance of stats to make the combat actually engaging and that's another thing Cube World did better, and if they will even fix this, but I also highly doubt, they should reword Death Defying flask to also balance it out, I don't like how cheaty it feels to use there's also class balance but yeah, we got so many classes that it's hard to eliminate meta from the game, one class gets buffed and another is getting replaced, this is how it is sadly but first thing they should do is to minimize the RNGs in this game, having literally everything randomized and being gotten because you were lucky is really stupid and this is another thing that makes the game feel so unrewarding, because gameplay wise the game is still super fun, even with all these issues but there are way too many types of boxes, too much loot behind really small chance of dropping, it's really damn annoying to deal with all that stuff, I didn't even bother personally to get Ariel, my last dragon that was added in U11 update, now we got more from fishing, and this killed the game for me, because even more RNG but behind something that is not even fun to do, this game is just so unrewarding because we have to do so much, with little gains and pray to get what we want and last thing, cashshop items shouldn't give any mastery, all packs, all emblems, everything, this would remove P2W aspect from the game and make the game much more enjoyable too

I do like this game but it’s so difficult to get anything including the timed (weekly) stuff. when I ran out of gem augmenting materials and realized I could only get a couple a week I just slowly got off. I was definitely going to need over 100 of those things.

LOL truly corners moment, and yeah the gem upgrade stuff was probably one of my biggest reason for quitting the game. Like, it was not that bad when 36k max but after crystal gems dropped and 46k was a thing grinding gem was actually not bad but if you add the fact that it eats through the gem upgrades, for a casual player (like me fr fr) it gets goofy as hell. I remember jet getting to 44k ish and quitting and wow somehow I have max pr guys what happened (you know, you know) Perma grinding wasn't that bad since ifera delves were a thing but I get the point you're making here. I think my major setback tho was the advantage people have when multiboxing, duping and overall exploiting. Like I'm not against the idea but because it just became a meta at this point, all the endgame content that comes out was just centered around those people, and I really wasn't motivated enough to start it myself.

When you think about it the game has so many easy fixes that'd just take a day of coding. It's crazy how every single MMORPG (especially free to play since that's part of the problem) all fall into the same problems and the easy trap of trying to bait easy money (whales). As long as the game is free to play there has to provide some sort of in game shop with either full cosmetics (good ending for players bad ending for game prod) or pay to fast (bad ending for players good ending for prod). When in game shop that provides pay to fast options then you automatically get long frustrating farms and/or time gating. When you get time gating or frustrating content you lose the feeling of progression essential to an MMORPG (especially one that does not rely on the trinity of roles such as tank heal dps). You lose that feeling of progression you start having a shapeless mass of content that has no connections and has outdated content which causes even more issues including balance issues. It's legit always the same thing that happens and it is so frustrating cus all it takes is a whole team of people not too motivated by money in order to make a long peaceful money making game instead of a short period massive mine of gold that gets left behind once half drained.

And so this time I'm going for as much MR as possible and feel so lost. And so I was looking for some short advice from a max MR like yourself. Where did you start? How did you always find something to do? Etc?

well your problem is really specific, and I think that's normal for a top 1 mastery player to have that kind of problem, the only thing left for you to do is to max every class unlike a new player, and yeah most players quit at the range of 600+ total mastery cuz progression becomes too slow and as you u said unrewarding, and in my opinion that's how it ends, you just "consumed" the game cuz you just took everything the game has to offer, I would like to see something that you can play infinitely but I don't think that will work cuz trove is all about progression and collecting things and eventually you'll run out of things to collect, anything other than that wouldn't be "trove" anymore, idk maybe we need trove 2 or something with a different type of progression system, that's my opinion

idk how or why i got this video in my recommended videos, but i quit this game 4 years ago. played multiple hours everyday for YEARS. the main reason why i quit this game was just the bad servers. other than that i think this game is perfect and one of the best if not the best game ever made. when i try to go back to the game my brains says no, 6 years of playing 24/7 the same game is enough.

I quit about 7 Months ago. At 902TMR, the game has fallen into an abbysmal state, it was bad enough to begin with, both for the overwhelming amount, and difficulty of content in the game for new players, aswell as the endless grind for the end game community. I used to enjoy this game.. somehow, I emptied my account in hopes to make myself never want to come back. Its a trash shoot, an addictive trash shoot

I absolutely love this game. Played it pretty much since release on Switch. I own a top club, met soo many great people and made best friends on this game. While many people may think the game isn't the best, I will continue to play intil the game servers shut down. Good video👍

LARGE TLDR: to sum up this entire video theres too many things to grind for without nearly enough of a reason or any real incentives to grind for it now that i got out of the way im abt to start my large rant next LARGE RANT: i quit the game after around 650 total mr top 100 pr sh on console i genuinely dont have a reason to the play anymore they keep adding updates that just feel soulless or like a quick cash grab and they continue to fuck up the market by making flux and other items insanely hard to get i spent days and hours of my life tying to get enough flux to hit end game and spending all my time grinding and slaving away at time gated bs and other rng based items only to be screwed over every time IVE OPENED OVER 100M WORTH OF TOWS WITHOUT A SINGLE GANDA IVE DONE PROBABLY 500 DELVES WITH NO LUNA IVE PROBABLY KILLED OVER 10K PARAGON PINS WITHOUT A SINGLE WING DROP theres just so much bs in the game it feels like someone's actively spitting in my face and throwing me in a pile of dogshit ive been playing trove for probably a decade by now and yet ive gotten nothing out of it its so depressing that every single piece of the game i once enjoyed or loved gets stripped from us only to be rebranded without any concept of fun i played the game for so long i genuinely forgot the meaning of fun it was to the point my family got concerned cause day in and day out all i felt was negativity the community on console is some of the most scummiest vile nefariously evil people ive ever encountered all i want is for trove to reclaim its glory and become fun again as it is now no one will play i see no point in playing a p2w scam with taxes in it

Trove was designed from the very beginning to be a casual game. The time gated stuff isn't all that big of a deal if you only play for an hour or so a day. Problem is the devs try to mix in stuff for people who play this non stop and it makes it really difficult for people who play it the way it was meant to be. The karma system is really good but they need to expand on it and add it to more things. Fluxion is a total disaster in my opinion. The point of Fluxion was to be a Flux sink through the voting process, which is a pointless thing to spend your Flux on. Forget the voting, he should be selling stuff for Flux not Dragon Coins. The mementos are a pain to get, Q-Mentos don't drop frequently enough. They need to add a Platinum Q-Mento for getting banner styles you don't have.

If they made it a single player game with a story and objective it might be decent but devs made it beyond saving by being greedy

I love trove but I feel like they have the game totally backwards for a rpg, trove gets worse the more you play it instead of other rpgs that get better the further into endgame imo

Its kinda funny i just recently started trove again will i regret it ? Possibly Am i having fun though? A bit We'll see how long toll i get burnt out again

I quit because they made being top PR useless.... Alot quit after altering the shadow tower difficulty making solo carrying in ultra impossible so that stopped flux trades then there wasnt other easier methods you were either a master club builder getting paid flux building 8hrs a day or your grinding material to sell which non was as effective as carrys for Flux per hour especially on reset day

Everytime i see these typa videos i get scared that the devs see it and thats it gone make them consider shutting the game down more if everyone on yt is praying on its downfall. i rlly cant lose this game its everything to me

o/ I quit trove because no updates i'm 47 302 PR (XBOX) No Bamboo Dragon I'm missing October Curiosities and a subnautica biome for the banner. I got 100 000 Credit + 40M Flux i never will never quit trove definitely because i'm addict to this game and because i got 288 days on this game. I will no longer actively play this game. I hope a good updates for March 😮
