Andrew Neil? Again? Why are Times Radio trying so hard to resurrect Neil's failed career? He's been a national joke since his stint at GBeebies, only Times Radio (Rupert Murdoch) seem prepared to give him any work these days, there's a reason for that.... He's a terrible presenter with far right views. That's why he's not on the TV any more and only seems to show up on Murdoch's YT channels. He's pathetic, leave him alone. There are so many talented voices in the UK that could opine on subjects such as this, he's simply not one of them.

It all depends on your priorities, but out of the four primary contestants, only one comes across as possessing some semblance of statesmanship. The other three all struggle to even come close to achieving that.

Just last week they were 'imploding'. The week before that the 'walls are closing in'. This week they're 'stuck in a rut'. The Times should consider maybe getting some commentators that remember 2016 and seem capable of learning from their mistakes. This is unfolding like a mirror image of 2016 right down to the Times' headlines.

POST DEBATE REACTION: As much as I despise Vance, this is exactly what I thought would happen. Walz is who we need as VP, but he is a spaz. Quite a good guy, but not made for moments like this. We want Walz for what he will do as an actual VP, not as a debater/showman. As VP, Vance would be preparing for a run for the Presidency. Walz will not be doing that - he will be supporting Kamala 100%. I think the intense debate prep muddles some people's brains: instead stand there, take the position you want, but most importantly, react to what is said. Take the obvious shots. Walz couldn't do this. It is so easy to point out that Vance's statements about Harris not doing these things are wrong - the VP doesn't control any of these things... then continue by flipping the script and pointing out that Trump did in fact have the power of the presidency and not only failed to do these things but did the opposite. This is true for the abortion, healthcare, and immigration issues, where Trump's position was the actual opposite of what Vance said it was. In this kind of debate one has to be ready to succinctly call out lies/misrepresentations by pointing to easily understood (and recalled) facts. As I said, at this level of political debate the participants (at least the Dems, in this case) seem to be over prepared and told to give lengthly position statements instead of simply and strongly showing that the other guy is either not telling the truth or just happens to be wrong.

Trump is old and weird. Vance wears eye liner. Weird.
