LS swapping wouldn’t be too much more considering you are ok boosting stock LS in front of a stock transmission. If you want built on either end yes I agree with you the budget jumps significantly.
I'm getting parts together for a 2004 S10 Blazer for an off road build. 4.3 pretty much stock with Dana 60's front and back with a turbo 400 Trans and a twin sticked 205. It will be on 38's for now since I have them already.
It's too easy for people to just build whatever everyone else's flavor of the month happens to be, but it takes heart to build whatever the heck you feel like building. From what you described about the S10, sounds like the previous owner is a creative, practical car guy who knows what he's doing. You know people be doing some off the wall sh1t on their cars sometimes. Nice find. Looking forward to watching your other vids.
Yup! Better to be unique than just another parrot. I cant wait to start on my swap. Going to trigger a lot of people 🤣 ive even nicknamed my sonoma "trigger"
Best upgrade I ever did on a rwd s10 was doing a 4x4 chassis swap and then swapping the 4x4 components to the syclone's awd system. I highly recommend that you consider it for the insane traction value proposition.
@@shawnbrownfield9857 Yes, all the 4x4 front end components fit tightly together in a relatively small space. The RWD chassis uses a completely different front.
@@Chris-re6wv ain't no way unless you beat the driver. An old 5.0 will shit on a 4.3 s10 with a good driver behind the wheel in a car that isn't running on 6 or 7 of its 8 cylinders or something else causing it to loose power or performance. I could see a well driven 5 speed 4.3 in a stripper short bed reg cab 2wd s10 maybe keeping up a little but it is Def gonna loose stock for stock without a doubt equal drivers all things equal.
The weight of the marine intake does not disadvantage it compared to the crappy stock manifold with the spider setup. The benefits of having the marine intake are by far better regardless of its weight. 50 pounds won't make a difference to how fast a 4.3 will go
I had a 99 Sonoma with a LT1 swap about 20 years ago. It was lowered in the rear and air ride in the front. Wish I would've kept that truck. Can't wait for more content.
Hell yes! I am collecting parts to turbo mine. I would love more pics/info on the marine swap. I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. Was really hoping to find a already converted 2114 manifold
i need to find a marine manifold, im looking to turbo mine, and i dont have enough money to blow on a edelbrock intake, or the skill to chop one in half
I quickly ran into “the boat manifold” problem as well. Going to 5.3 swap it. Rumor has it that they get 36mpg and are too much fun. My stock 4.3 motor is mint though. 255k miles and not even a lifter tick. I have a problem throwing away a good engine. Even though it’s worthless to swap into another vehicle with that mileage. Pro Tip for S-10/15’s Remove the butterfly valve and cut off the restriction plate. And reinstall it. Major improvement in take off speed. But good luck leaving the stop light in the rain. It will eventually stop spinning.
36 mpg my ass lol. A vette might get 28 highway or something because of its tall od and sleek aero but I can tell you an s10 with a 5.3 ls isn't gonna gear anywhere near 36 mpg in any kind of conditions ever on any road. Not happening.
@@davidhazel36 The 4.8 LS is also an option and no one cares about them because everyone wants 6.0s and some 5.3s. For a daily driver that's not thirsty a 4.8 would be a solid choice and they're cheap.
Saw ya on FWF. Subscribed and learning. I have loved the 4.3 for years and am looking forward to learning about putting a turbo on them. Very cool. Long live the 3/4 350!!!!! 😂
Love the truck I have a 96 4.3 Sonoma that I'm wanting to Turbo myself my goal is 600hp. I would love to hear more about your specific build or possibly ask some questions about it to get an idea of how to do it myself.
Not sure if I asked this before. I have bought a 1998 olds bravada. I bought it because I want to turbo the 4.3 in it. Make a nice more modern typhoon. I don't have a welder or any really big nice tools that I need at the moment. They make a cheap chinease turbo kit for around 700 bucks. I plan to do that and also the mercruiser manifold. I'm having a really hard time finding information and parts. I will upgrade stuff later but for now that will be my starting point. I don't want to remove my fender liners and don't want to change a bunch of stuff. I found a nicer set up thru cx racing but I have to remove the fender liners and change out my brake booster. I don't want to do all of that. This is my first turbo build ever. I have no idea about the computer, how to fool with it. I am not sure if I have to change the fuel pump with the mercruiser intake. This is a learn as i go type of build. I know nothing about turbos or waste gates or anything. I'm green when it comes to turbos but I am determined to learn and to make it happen. Any help would be appreciated. I have watched nearly all ur videos but I still have unanswered questions. I have also heard that the turbo kits that the manifold for the turbo won't clear the alternator. These are things I'm trying to find out before ordering. Thanks for any help.
A 6.0l ls 2500 /3500 express/Savana work van running/driving for less than 1000, that's a win, that van can easily make back it's value within a week. For someone who does trade or hauling work
Hello love the video, been wanting the same truck forever finally got on last August 2020. I'm going to be following you from now on. I want to the following your lead to see what you go though to mirror your build. Thanks Tom
If you’re still looking for your EFI fix, go with the Edelbrock aluminum 4bbl intake, CSU blow-through carburetor for the turbo, electric fuel pump. Done. Look up Richard Holdener here on RU-vid. He got around 450 easy hp with his little 4.3 and a centrifugal.
I'm doimg a build with an old cup car chevy v-6 306,9 cid nitrous set up with 18 degree heads. Did a 4,3 stock block NA that ran the quarter @ 12,04 and 110 mph and a 8.0 1/8th years ago foot brake @ 3100 lbs.
Ive got an 02 blazer 4x4, really want to do an ls swap but i keep reading that its a nightmare. I dont want crazy power, just some more go and keep my 4x4....maybe i need this
I have 95 4.3 vortec 53 chevy body. What can i do to make nice power and how hard would a turbo install be. Nice video bro love the big motors but also love smokin someone with a little sleeper motor
Hey I got a few guys that are interested in doing a turbo on the 4.3 as I am building a nitrous one in my silverado I'm pretty curious about the turbo set up my self we will see how it goes dope truck by the way
Can I ask what are the specs on the whole truck I wanna do the exact build, because I’m about to pull my stock 4.3 with a nv3500 behind it and I wanna put a turbo ect.
Can you maybe give me some parts/mods I could do to my 06 silverado 4.3l? I heard that the throttle body from a 5.7 would work? is that true? any help from small to big upgrades will work. Thanks.
4.3 Turbos were common in the Typhoon/Syclone. I'd be curious to know there differences, were they cammed, different pistons, rods, crank, etc? Do you know?
I have to say man is the video is awesome but I saw that you had a leak in front of your front tire and I was either your blow up on your turbo or else it was a leak because it looks like flames shooting out right out of your exhaust not otherwise love the video bye
I just picked up a 02 ls short bed with a 5 speed and the 4.3 for $1,600. Has 117k on it and it’s rust free! I am thinking of throwing a turbo kit (not nearly as big as the one he’s running). I have a 06 speed 6 with a gtx3076R and that’s plenty large. But I was thinking something along the lines of like gt25 or a 55/58. If anyone has any experience with pulling power out of them naturally aspirated let me know
