The first true military submarines weren't introduced until WWII? Negative. Germany alone had almost 50 subs at the start of WWI and nearly 15 different types from minelayers to littoral attack subs. Very disappointing to see this misinformation being spread and unfortunate for the viewers who don't know any better.

I believe they were implying that The 1st true subs didn't come online until World War2 because previously subs were Not effective As far as just making a sub that happened before World War I pretty sure there was one made called a turtle sub during the Civil War
@chrisholder4978
@chrisholder4978 2 года назад
Actually, you are the misinformed one, Salty boy....the subs of WW1 were not even capable of reaching the depths of a ww2 sub. Metallurgy, armaments and technology changed drastically. During WW1, subs spent most of their time above water. Only diving for short periods of time to resort to battery power. Unlike during WW2 when subs were more capable of diving deeper and for longer periods of time. The metal hulls of this era were built to withstand these differences. So, to correct your intake of fakery, the first "TRUE" subs of warfare came about during WW2. Maybe a few years previous during the 30's. I think your response is a misunderstanding, in that you want to include all the sub tech that came before WW2. The submarines of WW2 were the first TRUE subs.

@@westvirginia8605 No, the Turtle was 1775. the Hunley was 1860's. Also, they were plenty effective lol. Effective enough to bring the US into the war.

Jason, this happens all the time on RU-vid. So many so called 'Documentaries' are filled with inaccuracies and blatant lies. seemingly at times to blur the facts of history, and create their own version of it. World history, especially military, is definitely NOT found on RU-vid. I was flying an F-15 near Iceland back in 1991. I saw the biggest damn submarine just under the surface of a very smooth ocean (rare in that part of the world). I reported the location of the sub over the radio back to command on Iceland. Upon landing....I was met by a Navy Admiral complaining that I had given up the location of a US sub that had been hiding for "a long time". Sorry - he should have sailed deeper. Cool thing to see and totally unexpected.

Right now the Ohio and LA class are reaching the end of their service life. As for the Fast Attack the LA has some issues that have had to be dealt with during their service life, their ESM was far inferior to that of the old 637 class as they were designed primarily to be aircraft carrier protection and ASW. There are other operations tasked to Submarines that the LA is not really all that good at. The Ohio class is OLD, I mean the first of this class was constructed in the mid 70's they are getting very old.

45' dive angle... that would be quite a ride, especially in the kitchen! :D

The US is "switching to" one expensive submarine? Ummm, no. They will continue to replace the fleet with the latest designs and tech as required. By the time very many of a particular model are built, another improved version will become available, and then that will replace others retiring from the fleet. In other words, sub procurement is working like it has always worked.

@@josepheaton3779 ohh, ok, i thought about my grandpa who was 17 when he joined the navy to fight in WWII, and passed away at 95 a couple years ago. I'm 50 now, it sounded funnier in my head when I tried to do the math with cloud numbers and then add 23 years between WWI & WWII. Anyways, didn't mean to be dick, sorry if it came across as so, both our grandfathers were good honorable men. so if I carry the one and subtract the square root of Pi, I'll have...I'll figure this out

I gave after the first minute, breathtaking lack of research especially since the first military attack by a submarine was during the American civil war and it was Germany during the great war who perfected their use.

“Birthing area of a destroyer is by no means comfortable” I never slept better than when I was underway on a DDG. There is something about the motion of the ship that just knocked me out. You get used to it especially when it’s a 6 month cruise.

Berthing??..a "birthing" area on a destroyer would result in a constant supply of "sons of a gun"

It is true that the berthing component of a Spruance Class Distroyer is fairly tight and the bunks are not to terribly comfortable BUT IF you've ever experienced sleeping in your bunk during a serious storm at sea and listen to your shipmates who fall out of their bunks and "thud" to the deck it can be Very interesting, as long as none of them are heart in the landing!! Something to be said for a "bunkmate" that keeps leaving his clothing on the deck for others to land on can be a welcome situation. 🤣😂👍🇺🇸

[11/04/22] Ever since women started getting on ships' crews, and such, I have heard that there are a select (few) spots, and corners on ships, and carriers where (secret) sailing couples can engage in clandestine sex. Young adults are horny as fuck, so it goes to reason that ppl will try to hook up on cruises if they can get away with it. Generally speaking, how has that worked out for ppl? And do more ppl get away with it, than get caught?

As an introvert that don't mind some good brothers in arms in a small space. I vould love to serve under water. But because im born with a blood sickness that make me have a low immune system. I was not allowed to get in the military 😥 The day I passed the military service check with 9+ out of 10. I got real hyped. Until the last station was with the doctor who had my medical records. "I'm sorry, but you shouldn't have been called to be here because of you blood sickness. That will put your team in risk of getting infected if you get sick". As a young boy at the time with no father figure my entire life. I was pumped to be in the military and become a real man. But that dream was smashed and I took it real hard 💔 But as an adult now with a daughter at 12y old. I've figured out my own way of being a man. But I'm still interested in the military and its "fancy" toys 😅

5:20 "When diving water is pumped into the ballast tanks, allowing the vessel to sink" 1. Water isn't pumped into the ballast tanks. The ballast tank vents are opened & water comes in from the bottom pushing air out the vents above. 2. The vessel doesn't sink, it dives as previously stated.

@@scissorbeaksgames8208 No it didnt, because the first "true submarine" was USS Nautilus, as she was the first submarine designed to operate underwater for the entire duration of a mission/patrol thanks to her superior hull form and nuclear powerplant.
