I have Adam Audio monitors and I love them. Well worth the investment.

It's such a shame we can only like this video once, it doesn't seem enough. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you make everything so accessible to viewers. It seems that some content creators love to show off about how much they know, but bore people silly ("the CNT6969Tri-valve output then goes to the Feltching port, which resonates the bi-diaphragmed exoskeleton compound component attached to the flume driver that was designed by Ramesses II...") You're like that great mate who can make even complicated things easy to understand when you're sitting down the pub!

Thanks for your very well made and explained videos - you certainly are a very good teacher. I can see at least one reason why you have chosen the AV7s, the 37Hz is important as it is low enough to include the 40-45Hz without being on the edge of the speakers bandwidth ... I would get those too - with stands... if I already had a decent space for a mini studio. Not yet... I will retire in a few years, maybe then. Just Headphones for now... I may get open ones - possibly.

Phase issues, in perspective. (Refer to the video at 5:20 to 5:50) Speed of sound is 343 m/s. If monitors are 2 meters away and the separation of tweeter and woofer is 34.3 cm = 13.5 in.(on 5" monitors, it is less than 4 in., about 10 cm), you have a right triangle with sides of 0.34, 2.0 and 2.1 meters. The sound is travelling 2.0 m. for tweeter and 2.1 m. for woofer. The difference in time for sound to reach the ears is the time for sound to travel 0.1 meter = 0.1 m/343 m/s = 0.29 ms. If the tweeter is at a pitch of 580 Hz (cycles per second) (20x29), and the woofer is at 87 Hz (3x29), the sound reaches the ear after 20.0 cycles of the tweeter and after 3.0 cycles of the woofer, but still separated by less than a millisecond. Where do phase issues arise?

I believe the phase issues occurr in the crossover frequencies.

Grat video!! I found an offer for a pair of used A7Vs just under 1 year old for 800€ in total, but I was told that the Evo Alpha twins are far better, have you ever tried them? What do you think?

Thanks for the video Mike. Gave me some things to think about since I just bought a pair of Tanoy 402's. Don't know how they would stand up against the A7Vs but to my ears they have a beautiful lush sound. While I'm at it, let me ask about the mic that comes with the SoundID Reference software. Do you think this mike would be suitable for any sort of recording? I'm not crazy about spending money on a mic I'm only going to use once or twice.

Alternative to studio monitors: pro level headphones with EQ-correction and (optionally) studio mix room simulation(s).

Tried the A4V & A7V. Severe dip at 1K on the A4V. The A7V’s image sounded flat, not a lot of depth. For the money, Focal Evo line sounds more open and detailed but harsh shouty tweeter.

The app's letdown is its absence of a volume control knob.
