In Bengal, durga puja in a particular village starts with azan. This is couple of century old puja. The feudal lord was hindu but the community was muslim majority. He decided Durgapuja is a social festival and it should be celebrated by all. Since then homecoming of Durga till date starts with azan not by mantra.

Even in mosque they do rituals like we hindus do 😅. Not only this many examples i can give. Even when going to sabrimala (Kerala), people go to mosque and then go to temple. Because ayyapa had muslim friend. And the mosque is built in remembering his muslim friend. Many stories which have hindu and muslim connecting festival. Even in my home town madurai. Our god ( alagar - avatar of Vishnu) while going to Meenakshi (sakthi)and Shiva wedding stayed in muslim house for a night. These rituals are still happening yearly basis. There are still many more. But many like these things found in South ( that's why south had less religious riots than north).

This is true about India. I was travelling in the South and came upon two so called shrines. One Vellankani (I think) in Madras and the other Kateel Temple in Karnataka. Both had devotees from all walks of life and backgrounds. Unbelievable. I think this internal animosity amongst Indians exists but is quite fickle. Indians respect each other far more than the world realises.
It's really easy to co-exist , as humans keep your belief to yourself and respect every one's beliefs and we can live a happy life without conflict and fights . You don't have to prove anything to anyone but just to yourself .

You have to only see a classic Bollywood movie where at a critical point of the story the main character prays in a Mosque, Temple, and Church. This scene is repeated in many movies and is just accepted by Indians as normal. A true reflection of secularism in Indian society.

I’m a Hindu from Malabar, Kerala. And my mothers family regularly worships & contributes to a Muslim Sufi shrine near our place. Interestingly many Muslims of our area have stopped going to shrines due to the influx of “Gulf” Wahhabism - called Mujahidism in Kerala.😂

Islamic structures are maintained, visited, revered and even protected by Hindus in India but contrast that with Hindu shrines/ temples in Pakistan which either have already been converted to mosques or destroyed, the handful of the ones which haven’t been targeted as yet, are in pathetic condition, and are always under threat from the Islamists. We are worse because we have reservations in jobs by religion. Our govt funds religious schools selectively. We have religiously named regiments in the Army. And then we hypocritically use the word secular in our constitution.
In Mumbai Mahim we have "Hazrat Makhdoom Shah Baba Dargah" which is exclusively managed by Mumbai Police. Mumbai police is majority Hindu but that doesn't matter in secular India.

All Abrahamic religions like Judaism, Islam, Christianity came long after ancient polytheistic religions like Hinduism, Greek pantheon or Hellenism, Norse Pantheon, Roman Pantheon etc. That is the reason why Ancient religions never understood the concept of conversion. This whole conversion thing was Abhrahamic religion's creation. The harsh truth is India is a secular country for last 75 years only because Hindus are in majority if the opposite was the case then India would have been another Pakistan or Bangladesh.

I go to Dargahs and the Khadims there are very peaceful and enlightened. Every true muslim is a good human and we Indians know that. The current communal hate is due to those terrorists who claim to be fighting in the name of Islam and I feel we are very right to berate them and outcaste them.
