@Bisexual Guy I 'm , 47 years old and was not born during the last moon landing and have been waiting to see a return to the nearby moon. People waiting for a Mars landing are in for a real long wait.
I think it’s interesting to say that the wood they used “happened” to be water resistant. I believe it’s totally possible and even likely that they knew and made this move on purpose. Awesome video, thanks!
@@TheBestLife2184 well I doubt it concerns me as I am no longer an atheist. I was accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven as I started craving that love which is eternal and infinite. As I cried out to My Father, that is Your Father also, he gave me the knowledge I was searching for and much more. He made me realize, in my own personal life and experience, that Jesus is the way. I am walking on the narrow path in my elder brother Jesus`s footsteps now, even today. As I have risen from the dead and come to take Jesus`s mission further. In a vision I realized that I can pray for miracles to happen in this world, but the world might be too numb and stubborn to realize it. That is when I called upon my Father again and asked PLEASE LET ME HELP O LORD, IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO. Now MiCahEl realized himself to me, in flesh this time. First in the vision I saw and suddenly by his Apostle Elijah. My friends and family were scared I got in a cult, but this is the healing of the nations and the truth of the light. We know that we know that wherever our heart is--there we shall be. Much love brethren. That is just a short testimony of how I came to be Saint Elvardiel Monjahronson Sehrahrah SHMD, Chief Apostle, Jesus Christ MiCahEl Super Human Ministry of Divinity. Swordofgod is our dotOrg website & you need to go there and learn of The Master`s Return.
Most inventions are made by accidents, it is 99.99% probably just out of luck since that was the only wood found abundantly in that area, and then by the time they started importing wood, they may have known about this and only imported this kind of wood.
@@ritwikreddy5670 I would argue that most inventions start with an idea and then are followed by trial and error of methodology and materials to get the best results to achieve the envisioned goal. This is no different. Coastal cities already built wooden piers before Venice was built. Their genius was not the discovery of the longevity of wood piles in water, but to envision that done at great density and scale they could actually conquer the marshland mud islands the way they did. Some "discoveries" are certainly born out of luck or accidents.
@@TheBestLife2184 it's risen 8 inches since the beginning of the 1900's and 2 inches in the last 20 years alone. It's not that hard to actually research instead of blindly believing conspiracy theories. Now, go away, or I shall taunt you a second time! 🐹 🍷
@@TheBestLife2184 wow, that reference went right over your head. And I got my information from multiple verifiable sources that have done countless studies over the last century+ on these subjects. Unlike you, who clearly Googled phrases that fit your bias and then used the first one you saw that you agreed with. And why do you keep bringing up Obama? Why is a *former* (and not even most recent) American president so important to you in this conversation? It's kinda weird how you keep bringing him up. You should probably self reflect on why you're so obsessed and angry with him. Just don't forget the science classes in between the reflection sessions❤
@@morgannaomi1231 Citation? I have read multiple studies that claim that 75% of people that have 'read' studies 100% of the time haven't gone past the news headline.
"too build a city where it is impossible to build a city is madness in itself, but to build there one of the most elegant & grandest cities is the madness of genius"
Yes but was nothing like portrayed in that painting, if I have to make an educated guess I think a better fitting example for "fall" would be the slow decline in population and influence of the west in favour of Asian and African societies... forecasts for the next century
Wrong in some parts though, like at 2:05 when he says Venezia/Venessia as if it was written Venizia. The second e is pronounced similarly to the first one, that's how you say e in Italian, it's not like English where you pronounce vowels in many different ways
I'm not going to make fun of a non-italian speaker to get it wrong... but there was plenty of time to research the right pronunciation and do it right before publishing. Oh well...
Engineering and architecture back in the day is a genius because they can build something so strong that can last for forever even if it sunk into the water.... Today all things have been built in wood, cement, metal, etc... But it's not as solid as it was like the structures have been made back then...
@@TheBestLife2184 average has only risen 4 inches, but standard deviation increased a lot and there are much more high tides and low tides than before, that was clearly mentioned in the video. You seem like quite an intellectual based on your name, you may need to study direct research studies instead of believing what they say on media. Media is sensationalist and most often uses clickbaity headlines and open ended questions to draw attention of viewers, and many people, even educated ones just read the headlines and assume the rest and spread the wrong information to their friends and spam on youtube comments about athiests being satan worshippers when they don't even believe satan exists at all.
@@TheBestLife2184 promoted? By who? And why would you start beliefing in satan if you just said that gods, devils, etc don't exist. I think you mix athiests up with a groupe. Athiests are normaly just alone with the view and don't have a groupe where they meet every sunday and say that god doesn't exist. No god No satan No boss No one else who could tell me what to do or to think. I don't even think "No god exists" or something like that, I just don't think about god at all.
Sensationalist media uses clickbaits to lure viewers. They may use open ended questions like "IS VENICE GOING TO SINK IN 10 YEARS? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" to lure the viewers and when you actually click on it, they will present a very minute possibility and try to justify the headline by taking remote exception lines out of context from actual scientific sources to make it seem legit when it actually isn't. When you look at the scientific studies by themselves, their predictions are pretty accurate with the assumptions they took. The thing being that the assumptions they took are no longer valid since they weren't able to predict the invention of new technology that made things like 5nm semiconductor processors with almost 10 BILLION transistors and a clock speed of 2.8GHz run on just 8W TDP. The world had a GDP per unit of energy use of 3.5 in 1990. Now in 2020, the world's GDP per unit of energy use is over 8.5. It means the the world now uses only 41% of the energy it used in 1990 to generate the same amount of value. Eg: A single pair of jeans would take over 2500L of water to manufacture in late 1990's, now they only take 1500L of water. Another example is in 2005, an incandescent bulb would need 125W to produce 2000 lumen, now the led bulbs only use 17W to produce 2000 lumen. These types of improvements weren't accounted for in the old scientific studies, and thus didn't provide any projections. Projections are frowned upon in scientific community and are avoided in research papers. The crazy projections were made by media to get headlines.
I just visited Veneto/Venezia/ today , ist much bigger than i was imagined, really good food and the vibe of the City is just incredible, nice people and if you ever have the chance you should go 😊
First of all congratulations for the video and the Italian pronunciation 😁 🇮🇹As for the MOSE, it was inaugurated this year and for now it seems to work, but it was designed for the containment of the tides only and not for the increase in sea level. I hope humanity works in time to avoid the disaster of climate change.🤞
You didn't mention Genoa, the archrival of venice, I think that is extremely important, then you could show a chart of venice's and Genoa's territories
Ah Venice... The city of water that became a favorite of mine solely because of an animated pokemon movie from back in the day that featured a pair of lovely Dragons and a gemstone that held the water in place. I've been fascinated by the city ever since.
No mention of the sudden clarity of the canals last year when tourism dropped to zero during their lockdowns, that was an impressive sight, seeing how clean and clear the water could be without all the traffic churning up the silt... :)
I remember watching a short doc about Venice where they were exploring various basements and ground floor levels showing how, over the years, the "ground floor" of the building were being built upon to raise up the floor level. While I'm not sure if it still holds true today, in the doc the mentioned how the raising of the floors has fallen out of practice in favor of other methods. On one hand I can see how basically making the floors thicker could help in the short term but by the same token you're just adding more and more weight on very old foundations. Certainly not an easy problem to solve no matter which angle you attack it from.
As a Californian that's one quarter Italian, going to Venice was my first time leaving my continent. And it was totally worth it. It's amazing. Florence was almost equally amazing
It makes sense because of all the canals that make up parts of the city. I always thought the canals were built after discovering a water reservoir underground, so it could be used as drinking water.
Normally I enjoy your videos but I'm one minute in and already there are two major inaccuracies, the first being the 'epic fall' of Rome which was, in reality, a gradual chipping away of a combination of internal and external factors; the second being the comment about Romans drinking lead-tainted water. Learned Romans knew lead was bad for one's health and had been trying to reduce the usage of lead in the water systems
I went to Venice and I was really shook when it swayed to the current and how well it has withstood for how long it’s been there. It’s very interesting to actually visit it and see how it was built
Exactly. It's been sinking for 500 years but just the last 90 years is the real reason. In 15 years I bet the narrator will only give us 15 more years before the world ends.
8:48 Fake news here, Veneto is one of the richest regions Italy regarding lakes, rivers and abundant freshwater sources coming down straight from mountain ranges of the alps and dolomites in the northern part of the region. the water extraction which took place off shore in the adriatic see in the late 60's and 70s was due to the rapid expansion of the industrial activity in the neighboring mainland surrounding venice. The water was needed for refining of chemicals processes etc. Not for drinking water
Ive beem to venice for the bienale. Lovely city wish i had had more time to see it and not drag my sorry behind from art to art piece. I was there for art school. Hopefully after the pandemic and when i have the money i can go and see it again with my parents.
