Why wasn't this ruled a catch? | Green Bay Packers Vs Chicago Bears 

Yea, just go with the ruling on the feild. Thankfully the Pack didn't need it to win, would have been cool to see Love break the record for most 3+ touchdowns 0 interceptions games in a season for a starter though.

On fourth and 1 the bears came up a couple inches short. The stick measurement showed this. They were given a first down. Anyone else see this?

the biggest problem with these refs is they refuse to be wrong..they legit need to start fining refs on obvious missed calls

I’m ok with that not being a catch… however, Jordan Love’s fumble shouldn’t have been ruled a fumble either… watching it live at regular speed, looks like it was recovered by the Bears. BUT, watching the replay it’s the same thing, it looks like the Bears player didn’t have full possession until they went out of bounds… you should take a look at that.

I get how this follows the rules and all. But the fact that the ball moving 1/2 an inch when it hits the ground completely nullifying an obvious catch is an absolutely ridiculous rule.

All of us in the stadium though this was a catch, but then the DJ Moore one that we challenge was a catch? Officiating seemed awfully fishy

I’m a packer fan . I don’t think that was a catch ,but I sure didn’t think the play earlier in the game that Green Bay challenged and lost was a catch either way. Just seems like there’s a call or two in every game any more they don’t get right even after reviewing

They only they changed the ruling from incomplete to a touchdown so they could automatically review the play

Everyone hating on the ref's but that was a good call. It might have been a completed pass if the ball would not have moved in his hands when it touched the turf but the ball clearly moved in his hand when it hit the ground. The ball can touch the turf but cannot move in your hands or show any momentary loss of any control.

As a packer fan I agree with the call putting it against the hip imo is not enough to prove control

I thought it was a td until i saw the replay. I see he clearly didn't have control of the ball before his foot was out. To me it's clear but i can see the argument

Packers fan here, so i have a bias to my team. But that was incomplete and the ref got it right.

Why wasn't this rule a catch? Because they trying to play that same similar script like they did with the Lions vs Cowboys game ending. The fact the Melton wearing #80 and Eddie Jackson wearing #4 guarding him is hinting to the fans that the Lions are gonna win the Super Bowl based on conspiracy. I could go further but somebody is gonna call me crazy anyway. I could be wrong tho myself. But oh well....

It could have been called either way, considering the ruling on the field was a completion for a touchdown I don't think there was clear and obvious evidence to overturn the original ruling. Fortunately it didn't effect the outcome of the game, time to move on let's leave the complaining about officiating to the Chiefs and other teams that have been trending downwards as excuses for their poor performances.

NFL catch rules are the opposite of common sense. If you were to ask everyone on the planet whether that was a catch or not, over 90% of people would say it was. But somehow under NFL rules it isn’t. When your sport’s rules are more complex than constitutional law I feel like you need to take a step back and maybe rethink them.

First, refs probably need to be better incentivized to make correct calls. But I'd call that incomplete because as he rolled, while "mostly" controlling the ball but arguable not having completed possession, the ball hit the ground while his feet touched out of bounds. Glad the Packers didn't need this; it really bothers me when the outcome of a game hinges on a play like this and how it's called. The Dez Bryant "catch-no catch" comes to mind.

His hands weren’t even on the ball. He was using the bottom of his hands to sand which the ball to his thighs. He did not maintain control throughout the whole process. That is absolutely not a catch.

That's not a catch. That last move was him adjusting his hands to secure the ball, and he was way out of bounds by then.

None of us knows what a catch is anymore because the refs dont seem to know either, and they get to say what is and isn't. But, I dont think it was a catch.

I think they're swaying they didn't see enough to over turn the call on the field. I mean I don't per say disagree with the refs here. I wish it was for my packers to pad those stats, but I seperate my feelings from it and it looks to me like the ball continued to move after he was out of bounds and that means he did not have possession at the time he went out of bounds. Therefore he didn't have possession and it's not complete. The refs have no doubt been terrible this year, but they shouldn't make a review about possibly and appears.

That was clearly not a catch even if when u are saying he got possesion his foot was well out of bounds by tht point this isnt even a questionable call its blatently obvious

Rip off. So we left 13 points on the field by missed fog, bad call and other issues. And then the fumble. Just need to clean it up a bit and it could be a good next few weeks. 😊

I watch far less football now, consistently and without struggle, because the rule interpretation and enforcement situation is so bad. Defenders can commit dangerous fouls for an advantage. Calls clearly seen on replay are left alone. Refs reference vague rules whose meanings change with the wind and temperature. And nothing is done to improve this because owners are cheap and fans are simps.

I'm a Packers fan, but this is clearly not a catch. Problem is, the NFL's recap didn't show ANY replay of this, so I had no idea what happened. In real time from the original angle, it looked enough like a catch to leave me wondering why it wasn't. If all you did was provide the replay angle the NFL guys left out, it would be a public service, and you did more. Thank you.

Yea, refs been trash this year but these guys have to start focusing and catching the balls cleaner so that they have to leave it in the refs hands to decide whether it was a catch or not
