What REALLY HAPPENED to Flying Sparks Garage?! We told you a little a while back but here's more, we have been working so hard on this new chapter and we are INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL for the support you guys have shown us!
Thanks for sharing guy's! Personal health should always come before anything else. Incredible to see you guys be self aware, and take control. Praying for your guys continued growth, health and safety. Can't wait to catch up in person this year! God bless
I love you guys I will be here when you get back. Erin thanks for letting us know about your health, we love you both. I live in Pennsylvania, I just wanted to say hello and God bless you both. Good luck in the future, I will still be here love you guys.
As you can see from the comments you have a great fan base and support network. We all care that you personally are mending yourself more than making videos! I look at it as one of my favorite shows is on hiatus. Looking forward to 2023! Get well! Be happy! And Happy Motoring!
Hear, hear! Sometimes we humankind just need to sit back, repair and rebuild OR we collapse. Good on you both for recognizing you MUST take care of yourself BEFORE you can take care of others. We fans are happy you guys are doing this R&R. We're looking forward to the NEW and recovered Flying Sparks Garage 🙂
Aaron you can do it physically and mentally. I lived for a year in a chair not walking and now I am. We are here to support you to in every way we can.
What I’m most excited to see in 2023 is Y’ALL. Here’s to more happiness and good memories than ever before in this new chapter for y’all. I’m proud of you both. ❤️
You both have your priorities straight. If you dont have your health you dont have anything. I went through something similar and know what you’re going through so I sympathize. Post when you can and when your ready, I think everyone will still be here. I know I will. Prayers for you both.
Hear, hear. Couldn't agree more Lynn. I'm just glad to see this update.. Take that time to yourselves. Post when you can and remember it's not the quantity that counts, but the quality. Your content has always been amazing, especially the relationship between you two (not forgetting the kid :) ).
Asking for help is the hardest thing in life. Been fighting Stage 3 Type "A" Melanoma cancer for the last five years. It's terrible not being able to leave your recliner and watch the world go by. Those are my two feet in my picture with my Uranium over on the desk. But, I really want to thank you and many others for keeping me motivated and occupied in the last five years. I've taken my tablet to every treatment, doctors, oncologist, test, scan and hospital visit. Feel free to edit.
Aaron my man, By admitting that alcohol became a problem to you, you help ME stay sober as well! For having that courage, to tell so many folks at once, you keep it real about everything you spoke about. I needed to hear what you both had to say, and God bless you both!
There's a saying, "when you're going through hell, don't stop." That resonated with me through your entire video. Grinding will eventually take it's toll. Loving yourselves first and loving one another through difficulty just means your metal is strong. Personally, I loved your boat series. I wish you'd do another boat, but I recognize that that was circumstantial. It just never seemed like you were "grinding" when it came to the boat. You have my prayers for healing, health and prosperity. God Bless!
I quit 10 years ago. Very proud of you & I’m extremely proud of Emily for standing with you; “Most women don’t”… quitting the booze seriously gets easier & easier as time goes by. I’ll continue praying for you, both. Huge 👍
Glad to see you taking a break to work on yourselves. You put a lot of yourselves out there. Take a break whenever you need it, we’ll be here when you are. I can understand Aaron’s adjustment with alcohol. I had a terrible struggle with alcohol (fully functional, but drank heavily every night). Got clean at 32 years old. Was good for 21 years, but about a year ago I relapsed. Was ok for a while but it spiraled out of control again. So, weeks ago, I sobered up again. Hardest part is making the decision to make the changes you need to and breaking the habits you get set into. The money I’m saving is crazy REALLY significant too. Thanks for the talk, looking forward to new content ahead for the year! Be well folks.
The best and most important rebuilding project you are doing is your relationship. Remember to always be there for each other no matter what. My wife left after 28 years of marriage, I regret that I didn’t work harder. I love and miss her very much. I see the love that you both have for each other, always keep building on that.
It's got to be so frustrating having to stop yourself doing things that you used to do like second nature in the shop, and not being able to do it is doubtless disheartening to say the least. A break to step back, reassess, reorganise and restart with some things offloaded (editing) must feel so great. Glad you're getting back together, content be damned, you're better off looking after yourself first. It's sad that people gave you grief for not uploading, especially having said "hey, things went sideways, we'll be back!"
I know that all of us have missed you. It is really great to see you again and glad that things are on the mend. I quit drinking way back in '89 and have not a single regret so hang in there Aaron, it only gets better! Emily has shown her wisdom by delegating the editing part of her job. That will take an immense weight off her shoulders and give y'all more time for those important things that you love so much. Best of everything for you!
I just found this channel about two weeks ago. I actually live in Wise County, Texas. Not too far from y'all. I have a farm and saw your tractor episode, so now I am a subscriber. I will probably be going back in to some of the other videos to get some backstory on stuff. This video helped me appreciate the kind of people y'all are. Glad to have found you!
Huge respect to ya'll for sharing so much of your personal life with the world! We are all human. Some just happen to have the talent that earns them a "celebrity" status. Unfortunately that tends to make people forget that they are still.... human! Love ya'll!
First, you made this old man tear up! Second, Thank yo for the honest report of the situation. Third not upset about you guys being missing just concerned. Third, WOW the confidence in you "tribe" to come out so honestly is inspiring and makes me feel more special. God Bless you and carry on please.
I love Y'all. I's disappointed in th' lack of videos, during th' time, but Y'all were in my prayers and I knew , from MY experiences, that recovery takes time. I'm SO GLAD to see Y'all make a comeback! I've said it before; WHATEVER Y'all show us, is well worth th' watching. I love seein yall's Family in th' videos. I love th' Old School vehicles Y'all work on. I love yall's Cemistry w/each other. In a nutshell, Y'ALL ROCK and ANYONE who gets to see Y'all on RU-vid is blessed.
Thank you for sharing. Please do not worry about your viewers... take the time you need to slow down and heal. We'll be here. One of my big takeaways from your channel is your relationship. Blessings!🙏❤️
Good job! I struggle with ptsd and some new found depression, it’s tough to get out to the shop lately and work on projects/post videos. One day at a time… sometimes it’s one minute at a time. Being honest and open is a great healer. You guys are a great team!
That’s why I like your channel so much, because you’re so authentic. You’re struggling with the same issues as we, your followers do and don’t hide it. It’s like you touch my heart. Thanks for that.❤
Thank you guys for sharing this! I’ve gone through some similar changes in my life (ironically around the same time - my wife and I were literally watching this with a “wow, that’s been us!” kinda feeling). Appreciate the candor and can’t wait for more episodes on your time, your way. It’s the most important thing, I believe, to creating a genuine, authentic channel like you guys have created. Also, having friends involved and help who believe in the mission (and don’t just care about the camera) makes these builds so fun. Hope to see you guys around soon!
Love your boating episodes. Our family has had four different boats over the last 25 years. Enjoy boating immensely. Looking to get a cabin cruiser in the next couple years... keep it going 😎
First off, awesome job Aaron! That’s a hard task! Thank y’all for the update and we can’t wait to see Flying Sparks Garage 2023! I’m not sure how big of a following you have in Oklahoma but it would be awesome to see y’all!
Way to focus on you! Way to open up and talk about it! We had a chance to chat in Champaign, IL on Power Tour 21. You two are as genuine on the channel as you are in person. Prayers for continued good health and well being!
Glad to hear you all took time. I lost my 13 year old daughter last January unexpectedly. It’s over said but a tragic event like what Aaron went through or what we went through changes your perspective and priorities. Good for you to figure that out. Do what you want and what you love. We’ll see that and I bet the channel grows more when you are having a blast.
Thank you for the update, I have been a sub for a long time. I really enjoy your content and how so many of you car channel people are friends. Happy to hear of your progress physically and relational. I am excited for the future of your channel.
You folks are such an inspiration. I am glad you have put your health and relationships a priority. Delegation is one of the most difficult and rewarding things you learn in business. Giving others the chance to work with you, to feel like they own their jobs and can be creative has huge benefits for everyone. Not everything works, so you execute, assess, adjust and execute again. I have built a few small companies in my 81 years on earth. Teaching and learning keeps one young. Being in sync with each other is the best. Taking time for meditation, exercise, reading and prayer will even out the hills and valleys of life. God’s Blessings on you and your family.
Good for you two to take time for you. It should be encouraged. Tavarish is a great example. That man has had a rough time lately, but he took some time for himself and his family, and he's just starting to get back at it. Hopefully he's doing well, and I hope you two are doing well. Cheers to you both.
What you have described here is something many of us experience in our lives. Thanks for sharing what I understand, and in many ways, I had to find the hard way. No matter what comes along each day, remember that your sharing makes a difference to many.
Could never be disappointed if neither one if you keep it 100 and 10% of yourselves in every episode and that is why people love you y'all are real and I'm proud of you it was a lesson I had to learn as well how to let go of some things and let others do it and it's still hard to this day I was affected by a drunk driver 11 years ago that changed my life so keep up the good work and love what y'all do
I came across your videos when you bought the big boat and have only been able to watch sporadically; but, I love watching your videos. You seem like great people and have a close relationship. I give you so much credit for putting yourselves out there, especially in a video like this. I had no idea about the health issues. I'm really glad to hear you're doing better and are moving forward both professionally and personally. I look forward to continue seeing videos. Thank you for letting me, and your other viewers, into your lives.
Im glad to hear you both are doing better. I also enjoy watching your shows it helps, i am a deployed Soldier and watching your shows helps me get through this lonely period of my life. Cant wait to get back home and back into my garage and start wrenching again. Hope you both continue to grow and remain successful and are able to continue providing content for years to come. God bless you and your family!
You guess are awesome. I first found ya'll on your TV show and only found you on RU-vid about a year or so ago and enjoy ya'll so much. So as a fan I'm going to be here and ya'll do what ever you have to do and come back when you're ready and rested. Have fun!
I am a friend of "Bill W" and I can speak from experience the sobriety is where it's at! It only gets better, one day at a time. 😎 You're a gorgeous couple! Stay blessed!
I am so happy for both of you. You need to take time for you. Your personal life is more important than worrying about your your tube channel. I’m now 73 and it took me a long time to learn to ask for help. I spent so much time in the garage that one night I came in to eat and my wife had a screwdriver and pliers for my eating utensils. I worked long hours at my job and all weekend in the garage. Eventually it caught up with me. I hope all the best for you and will always be a big fan! Take care.
Coming very late to the party, but to see such love and solidarity in these modern times can give hope to humanity. Well done for sticking by each other through dark times and not giving up on the dream!! Not much a car guy, but have loved the Marine content. Keep the Boat stuff coming!!! 🍻
I'm a new subscriber and didn't know anything about you two until I watched you working mmm mmm rebuilding your John Deere and living it. I hope part of rebuilding yourselves includes everything body, soul, and spirit. To really stay on the right track work on your spiritual side so that you continue to grow closer and closer. It appears that God is working in you both. I'm a 73 year old missionary watching you from Ghana, West Africa.
I am glad to see and hear that the two of you are honest what is going on. Most of the times people watch social media and everything is perfect without and problems. The two of you found out , like everybody, that life isnt perfect all the time. To show this to the world is impressive. That we as the audience are waiting for all the cool things you are going to do is worth waiting! Wish i lived in the neighboorhood because I wouldnt hesitate to help you guys! But from the Netherlands to the USA is just to far....
Channels are cool, cars are cool… HOWEVER taking care of each other and your relationship is 1000 times cooler to me than a car ever could be! Bravo guys! We love y’all and you have our support…
I just started watching you guys. Now I'm gonna be watching every episode. I'm glad you got your health back. Just lost my wife a year ago two days before Thanksgiving last year. I give you my best wishes.
You have to put YOU first! So glad to hear that Aaron is healing up well. I know first hand that PT is a game changer when it comes to any recovery! Congrats on being able to refresh the shop with new lifts! Can't wait to see the Sick Week content! God Bless!
I love boats and what caught my eye to your channel was the Bayliner. I've watched every video of you guys working on and enjoying time with family and friends on that boat. I rebuilt a 1977 BAJA 19 ft. Open bow. I'm not a marine mechanic or carpenter but did all the work myself. You have inspired me to buy a cabin cruiser. My wife and I are in our early 50s and I think she would love the amenities of a cruiser. Love your videos. God bless you both.
Coming to this late but... I'm so very sorry to hear about the health issues - that's awful! I'm glad to hear that you're getting better, I can attest that shoulder pain is really tough but the PT helps a great deal. FWIW, there's MANY channels out there and speaking for myself I follow lots of them for a wide variety of content - part of why I'm commenting late lol. If you need to take breaks I think I speak for many in that we won't get upset, but will certainly watch you when you post though! Love you guys but cannot see the point of somehow getting upset if you have to take care of yourself, you owe us nothing. Take care of yourselves first and be healthy, please!
Your health is most important. You burned yourselves out. Take care of yourselves first! Your relationship is number 1! I'm proud of you giving up alcohol for your health & marriage. Sending both of you love & prayers for continued blessings. Being a true support for each is so special. God bless
I have enjoyed watching the both of you over the last few years since I came across the channel. Honestly I had noticed maybe some things were stressful for you guys over the last several months. Even though I only know you guys through the RU-vid channel, I hope only the best got you both. Keep up the growth your safety and health is important. Take care and continue on that positive journey to healthy living and happiness. Looking forward to seeing your progress and success in your newest chapter.
Good to hear from you guys! Looking forward to new content, and new merch! Take care of yourselves, lots of hugs to you both, and we'll see you on the other side! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
I just started following you guys. There is a lot of content on the interwebs that isn't good. But your channel seems wholesome and genuine. I have been following Derek and Jessica for a while, so I kind of know of you a little bit through some of their videos, and I look forward to watching more of your channel soon. If you're ever in Redding California in mid to late April, you should check out Kool April Nites, its the annual car show (about a week long)- cruises, show and shines, drag events etc. God bless you both!
You two keep up the good work you have a good show . Remember life is to short. I'm restoring a 64 international c900 pick up that belong to my dad he had it for 50 years I'm hoping to finish it before my time is up I'm working on my truck in front of my daughters house in the street it's tough with out a shop or garage. So you guys give it your all thanks for your show.
Thank you for sharing that with us, here at TheRustyMark we love and support ya’ll always so glad you are doing well, that’s the main thing! Best of luck and we look forward to more videos!!
Just watched the video. Good for your Aaron and quitting drinking. I’ve been sober for almost three years and feel great. What made me quit was becoming the Fire Chief of my department and I got in a snowmobile crash and don’t remember any of it. Hope you the best and kick butt with it. Also hope to watch more great videos with you both.
It's awesome to hear about the subject of stop and smell the roses!! Wish more people could realize how important it is in everyone lives! Life is too short! Keep that focus!!
Loved this video, and y’all sharing your truth and authentic selves.I am so glad and proud that you’re putting yourselves( FIRST ) . Delegating and asking for assistance when needed. I love watching y’all’s videos. I’m not going anywhere. I can’t wait to see what’s next! KEEP IT IN DRIVE!😉
It is good to take some time for yourselves. We don't get to see the behind the scenes stuff, and when there are life issues, you need to put yourselves first. I'm glad things are coming together. ❤
Good to see you guys coming back. Everyone needs time to repair for whatever reason. I was worried watching you in earlier videos as i saw a decline in your body weight. But you have a fantastic family/wife and heaps of cool cars :P Welcome back.
Hi guys, I have only just found your channel and listening to what you've gone through my heart goes out to you! I would like to say Aaron look after you and your beautiful wife Emily first, those that love you and your support your channel will wait for as long as it takes for you to get better. Forget the haters and focus on you and your family.
I’ve really struggled trying to start my channel I know what it takes …it’s pretty scary I have a full shop in Louisiana ….my plan is to build aluminum cars from scratch English wheel style Watching you I’m glad I’ve taken my time to get things in place to make life easier I’m single with no employees, that makes it much tougher ! I’ve bought and paid for my property and shops in the seven years I’ve been here Things are slowly coming together I enjoy watching you guys I’m glad you’re working on your own mental health Keep up the good work 👍🏻
❤ my heart goes out to the two of you. Thank you for sharing with us. So glad you are Both well now. Last summer the LOML, hubbie of 30 years had heart issues, I was Terrified I would lose him. Thank God he recovered and had been well. Health and Family first Always 😊. I was able to quit smoking cigarettes after 30+ years less than a month after he got out of the hospital 🙏, quitting anything is such a hard battle!! I have struggled for years with some health issues that have prevented me from working, I want to thank you for helping me decide to take the leap and try a RU-vid channel (not car related, more of diy upcycle, reuse, repurpose/fix it focus). 🤞 I truly hope I can pull it off. I would truly LOVE LOVE LOVE any advice you could provide.
Your honesty and transparency about your personal life with all of its challenges is what made me subscribe to your channel. Stay the course and remember that one of the most important things to do is to keep your relationship to each other in good standing. That said I really enjoy watching small diesel tractor rebuilds.
I so enjoy watching your channel. Taking time for yourselves is something we all need to do from time to time. We are patient and looking forward to your new content when you return! May God Bless both of you!
I stumbled upon flying sparks from the suggestion algorithm from roadkill. I got sucked into the LS conversion Nova wagon. I have watched y’all do such cool things. It’s good to see you take the time to work on yourselves. I’d love to bump into you sometime and chat. That cool Chevy camper is my vote btw. Much love!
Today was my first day of subscribing. Enjoyed the tractor. You are both blessed and courageous to share your burden with the world. I have been sober for 28 years, married to the same women for 38 years, and now have Parkinson’s disease. My attitude is Enjoy the Journey - I am very fortunate and have had a lot of wins! Happy Labor Day weekend. Matthew 11:28 ‘I will give you rest’ Email when you come through SC.
New to your Chanel fantastic stuff your posting and doing! And letting us know what's happening in your personal life and things are on the right side is fantastic too hear keep up the great work!!
You two are such an awesome couple. Glad you could take a step back and recharge. I'm so mad I missed seeing you guys at sick week. (Found out too late) Arrrgh!
You guys are really truly great together. Take care of yourselves and stay happy. I would like to put my vote in for a Flying Sparks Garage Finley tee shirt. Bill
Fully support you both in ALL your endeavors, on screen, off screen, everything. You need time to help yourselves before you help the rest of us. Please be well and take care of each other!!
I noticed the Red GTO in your shop,I bought a 2006 a few years ago and love it, I had bought a 1965 new when I was 20, the 06 is so much better. Good luck to you both.
Y’all are so Awesome. Yes y’all’s health and relationships come first. Love your you tube channel. Great stuff. A good time for me is in the boat on the water. Take care and God bless.
Very hard lesson to learn is putting your personal life first as life is way too short. Lost Mum 2007, Sister 2015 and Brother in 2020 Made me realise how short life really is.
Go for it, you are a wonderfull couple and I really wish you all the best regarding the fysical and mental challenges and pray you will stick together and strengthen your wonderfull relationship. And being Dutch I really love your hounest open way of sharing it with us. And don't worry about your viewers, the loyal ones will keep watching. Hugs from The Netherlands.
