Skipjack is the best bait! but all catfishing people know catfish like white bass and other bait during winter. For Big Catfish use skipjack!

Alabama has made it illegal to sell or trade Skipjack herring from the Tennessee River and its tributaries with a limit of 50 per day. 2024/2025 season

Is this guy is on drugs? Every catfishermen knows you can't beat skipjack. Sure catfish eat other baits but you will catch more catfish on skipjack.

Then why are the more rare 100 pound class fish caught more often on other baits? This video was made for two reasons: getting you ready for new rules and to show that monster fish seem to not eat skipjack. Real easy concept.

lol. We have caught more and bigger fish on white bass and crappie. Skipjack has its time and place like any other bait but in our experience it isn’t the be all winner.

Ive had the best luck with bluegill, Warmouth, sunfish, pumpkin seed, crappie ect. They're very abundant in my waters. I've had good results with yellow bass as well. The best baits in my experience would be Bull heads and anything brim or related.

Nice video. Drum also is good bait. The only place i disagree is that if you freeze gizzard shad the correct way they will stay good for months.

Drum is a very smelly bait! Would that be using salt on the shad? I know salt can harden it some.

@TNRVG I do drum and Asian carp the same. Filet them and cut into chunks or strips. Has worked really well for us . As far as the shad, I do them the same way I do skips. I pat them dry, individually wrap in saran wrap, and then vacuum seal 4 or 5 to a pack. It's a little work but it does well. Caught a nice blue at Pickwick in August on shad that I froze in April.
