I must add most of the help is coming from a great assistant. Yes to get the light is one thing but to place it is the most difficult part and you seem to have a great assistant
I don't usually comment on videos when they say "master photographer this" and "award winning that" but these shots are truly epic. Something different from the norm and really well executed! My magmod should be arriving in the post in the next day or so, I'm so excited! Sphere is next!
I never thought about using a magsphere on a monopod. I may not have an assistant, but it looks like i could hold the monopod in one arm and my camera in the other.
Hi Ray, I'll ask Christian if he can jump in to answer you directly. Thought I would share though that many photographers that are shooting with off-camera flash will learn how to adjust their flash powers manually, rather than rely on TTL all the time. That way they can have more control over exactly what they want to create. Often times the trigger on the camera hot-shoe will allow the photographer to adjust the power of the flash up or down. One popular trigger for example is the Godox XPro. Hope that helps.
ok i see he doesn,t have a way to adjust the power on his flash that means he have to shoot multiple shot and then adjust the power to get right light ratio on the subject face
awesome work!! I have a question. At 1:27 the reception room looks really bright in the video with the walls in the rear of the room looking tan in color but the accompany photo at 1:28 shows a red wall in the rear. Was there a gel used on the rear wall? Also, the floor looks cherry red as well.
he was using a warm color balance. perhaps 8000-10000K? and then you will see his background flash has blue gel in it, so as to counteract the warmness of the tone
When he says all over America.... He means the continent.. Remember America is not the name of a country. It is the name of a continent divided north and south.
No insults intended.... But how on earth can a tiny sphere be substituted for a soft box????? If this is the look you are creating, then why not just use the plastic diffuser that comes with the speed light?????
Hi Yellow Ribbon Studios - the MagSphere helps the transition of the light helping the fall off to be more subtle. Most MagMod users appreciate also being able to stack MagGrids with MagSpheres, use the integrated gel slot and more. So the modular system provides more value than another other similar modifiers.
Thanks for asking! They are two different kits with different products. Here are the links where you may find more details, magnetmod.com/products/magmod-basic-kit2 and magnetmod.com/products/professional-flash-kit
