PVS 14 is ideal to me. You can switch eyes when one gets fatigued, you can aim down sights with it when engaging the enemy or line up the enemy with a zeroed infrared laser. Less risk of that temporary blindness in both eyes when the sun comes up and the nods go back into the bag than with binos or a biocular. 40 hour run time on one or two commonly found AA batteries rather than a rare and sometimes pricey cr123. One intensifier tube is half the price of two, and you can still run attachments to it like a thermal clip on imager, and even a device that displays an overhead compass on the top of your monocular when you look through the intensifier tube.

ive used duals before but will always stay with my 14. its better in my opinion because you always have 1 eye adjusted to natural night vision which prevents you from running in to the moonlight and see what your enemy will see (if they dont have nods obviously). Yes you can flip your dual to the side but it takes a human eye between 30-45 minutes to fully adjust again to the dark. Also the ability to know instantly whether a light you see through your nod is red, blue, white, IR,... with your unaided eye is important in my opinion. if you spent enough time under a mono you wont really notice the ''depth perception'' bonus from duals. the ability to focus one lens to infinity and the other to close to you is a nice bonus with duals though.

Tried binos briefly, found mono to be more versatile but less intuitive. Regardless of cost, being more aware of my surroundings is the idea so pvs14 fits the bill for me

Can you use rechargeable double AA's on this device?

I'm sure you've found the answer by now but for the sake of it... Do not use rechargeable batteries. The power draw from a pvs14 is so incredibly low that there's no need to anyway. But the long and short of it is, dont use rechargeable batteries, don't use alkaline batteries... ONLY use Lithiums.

@@israelvega3166 glad to help! Yeah one lithium AA will give you around 50 hours of continuous use.. so it's a very efficient device in terms of power consumption.

@@israelvega3166also the lithium batteries are less likely to succumb to corrosion which could ruin your 14. It's also important to never keep a battery in the device when it's not in use anyway.

I think they are crap because they have a crap mounting design. It’s more of a hand held device adapted to be hands free. It looks ugly and bulky when mounted.
