Thank you Josie for the sympathy you have for the Portuguese. And as I am Portuguese, I know that we will all do our best to make you feel at home, this is true for all the beautiful family that you have built, kisses and hugs to all of you, stay well, until next time. Thanks for the video...
I have been to both countries and believe the French get a bad rap. The difference is that the French are overly respectful of your right to mind your business, whereas the Portuguese volunteer to help you. For instance, in Portugal, we were walking in Lisbon with my big camera and bag and an older gentleman in a sports coat flagged me down and had me follow him down a small street to a small chapel that was not open. He knocked on the door and the priest let us into the most beautiful mini-church I had ever seen and was quite famous. The priest let me shoot everywhere and was quite proud. The older gentleman did not speak one word of English and literally drug me to a great photo op. Viva La Difference.
This video came at the perfect time for me! Literally deciding between France and Portugal right now. France makes more sense as my partner lived in France for 8 years and speaks French fluently but I can't get over the Portuguese vibe and people. It's so scary choosing not to go with France because that's what we already know but I think Portugal makes more sense for us, especially in terms of cost of living and weather! Thanks for the video :)
We felt the same and no regrets here. To ease your decision, flights to France are very affordable. Have even seen flights for as low as 20 euros. Perfect price for a weekend trip
Hi Josie- My husband and I are traveling through Portugal for a month. We’re currently staying in Nadadouro for a few days. We recently sold our home and business in Southern California and are here in Portugal checking it out to see if it’s where we want to start our next life adventure. Thank you for inspiring us to check out Caldas da Rainha!
You made the right decision!! I lived in France, Aix en Provence and Bordeaux, for 13 years and NEVER felt like it was my home...There are lots of wonderful places and things, but I just knew it would not be my forever home!! I had a French family, husband and friends and I was happy, but only because I am a happy person I think! Two years ago we took our first trip to Lisbon and my French husband and I knew we wanted to live there...Three more trips around Portugal and we made the plunge and moved to Lisbon 4 months ago...WE LOVE IT! I finally found my 'home'! Everything is becoming unaffordable in France...Taxes on everything going up several times a year! One question, do you and your husband work for yourselves or did you find a job before coming?
Yes, I was just telling my husband how it feels more like home here than in the states! Regarding jobs- my husband was able to work remotely for his company.
