When it comes to causality, many people immediately think of causal questions about interventions or counterfactuals. But even seemingly simpler questions in the field of descriptive and predictive research require causal thinking. In this video, Richard McElreath, director of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, explains why causal thinking is important for all data applications.
