I also have The Sealed Nectar and Stories of the Prophets (signed by Tariq Ramadan!). I have also read numerous academic books on the Quran, early Islam and the expansion of Islam which quote contemporary Islamic sources (that quote the Quran and sunnah to justify the actions of the leaders). I have been studying this field for about 20 years... Whatever we quote from Islamic sources Muslims usually will use the typical excuses of being out of context, wrong translation, needs to be read in Arabic, etc. These are all very weak excuses and are simply put to prevent an honest discussion about the many problems that Islamic sources present to the modern world if followed. Sharia is the law in many Islamic countries (implemented to various degrees) and many countries have terrible apostasy and blasphemy laws - do you agree with having those for example? They are not randomly made up or extreme interpretations, they come directly from sahih hadiths (which the Sharia manuals quote). @hafsa._.m

If you study Islamic history, Muslims were not "rampantly" oppressed, that is a myth that Muslims put forth today. Also, the Quran according to Islamic theology is an eternal book for all mankind and all time, so why does it suddenly deal with a specific oppression during the 23 years that Muhammad was around? Again, I have read the Quran. Should we quote 9:29 for example, which DOES NOT say to fight people who oppress you, but those who do not believe in what you believe. And you said to look at the sunnah to understand the Quran, so let's do that: Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah, and he who professed it was guaranteed the protection of his property and life on my behalf except for the right affairs rest with Allah. - Sahih Muslim 21a Muhammad himself confirms to fight people until they believe. does munafiq actually more dangerous but why force them to stay...they may become the ones who can destroy islam itself from inside...freedom should still be given... let a person's spiritual experience continue as long as he lives, even if in the end we don't believe in the same thing, it doesn't matter... rather than narrow minded, stopped and closed from the outside... dont let anyone to stop you from learning evrything...seek as much knowledge as possible, break conspiracies from other beliefs, open your horizons and windows to the world... it can be that your belief as a Muslim actually gets stronger in the end... or at least you are wiser in dealing with differences and not easily blaspheming... because again the world it doesn't just revolve around you, you live with 8 billion other people, no one has the right to be the slightest bit arrogant because even in the smallest and trivial things in everyday life, we need help from other people, often those other people don't know us at all , he is far away, different beliefs but his role in our lives is very big...
