I really needed this. sometimes when you travel too much it can start to lose its meaning you have to remind yourself for the reason why we suffer through plane rides and train rides and walking through stressful airports and rude ticket agents and hurt arms from heavy bags and spending time tired in transit. When you feel the joys of meeting amazing people and making new connections and seeing things in real life youve only seen in your dreams and on tv you realize its all worth it. It really makes life worthwhile.
I hear you, but please try to turn all of those negatives, into real positives. You see, even lifting, carrying, waiting, flying, feeling upset, hurt, or whatever, it's all worth it and it's all for good reason. Maybe not @ the time, but almost always in hindsight. I always enjoy every single aspect of my interstate &/or global travel experiences. Why? Because i just do and i don't get to do it too often, so i make the most out of every single trip abroad. I don't look @ anything as a negative & i try not to moan and groan, bec every seemingly negative experience, in the end, will only help us to grow into bigger, better and stronger people. Also, when we complain too much, it ruins an otherwise wonderful travel experience. If we wear the blinkers, we miss out on great things and great opportunities around us. It blinds us to the otherwise beauty of the "moment". Have fun, no matter what you do, no matter what the experience. Smile too, for a smile and choosing to carry peace and joy within our hearts, costs absolutely nothing. Peace :-)
Hi Rick, I've only known you and your travel videos for 6 years now and absolutely love them/you and have watched them over and over and always get loads of fun, excitement, education, culture, nature and a good general understanding of some of theses fantastic places around the Northern Hemisphere. I myself live in the U.K. in a small Yorkshire coastal town of Bridlington and it's my little piece of Europe Heaven. I unfortunately, my health and mobility is in great decline and can not go to some of these places and I am in great pain all the time but somehow when I watch your programmes I feel as if you are travelling for me and/or bringing theses places to me in my living room and it makes me feel better and helps me to relax as your so easy to watch when I feel ill - they're/you're a great pick-me-up. So thank you Rick for that and bringing years of travel-fun and awareness of some absolutely amazing places in Europe to the masses out there, that either love travel or like me are in a situation where they can't go but love to watch. You're programmes make me happy, make me smile and really help with my pain, so keep on making them and keep on travellin'! Love you Rick.
Thanks for all your travel videos. They were both comforting during the pandemic in letting me "revisit" places I've been before, and helping me build a list of unexpected places I'd love to visit in the future.
How I love this. I started solo travel in 2019 and I am deeply passionate about it and I can't wait to see and learn more in the coming months and years.
@@AmandaFromWisconsin Solo traveling changed my life and is the single greatest gift I’ve ever given myself. Like me, many women will find solo traveling to be empowering, enjoyable and a wonderful experience.
@@clam371384 I’m a solo traveller as well....and I love the freedom of going whenever and wherever you feel like going, no complications in planning just me and myself. It’s also a chance to meet new friends along the way. Embracing solitude😊
I am so greatful for this channel. So many poor quality travel things on youtube. This is the classic way of documenting a travel and that's the reference the very young should have when setting expectations. Thank you!
So where are you traveling next? Thank you Rick Steve! This is so spot on on why we travel and why we keep traveling . . . searching for that Soul connection.
I wonder how magnificently Rick Steves explains the human history through his travells and mesmerising styles of story telling. I salute this preacher of humanity from the core of my heart.
10 thumbs up. What a great video. Travel is growth, travel builds your soul, travel is understanding. Thanks Rick for what you do and how you’ve let us see the world. Such an inspiration. We’ve cancelled so many trips. We’re all ready to get out there. Just thinking...There should be a Rick Steve’s movie!
God bless you Rick Steve. God bless the USA. In this collection of why we travel, I almost remembered every place in here because I have literally watched all your previous tour series. That means I have travelled with you always. I love you so much
Fantastic message in a world that has closed in on itself too much recently. Travel expands our horizons and grows our hearts. Thanks so much for this, and for all of your wonderful and sharing videos!

Steve the video is such a treasure! I gift myself this episode for each birthday I celebrate! Also to all the beautiful souls born 9th December! Love and appreciation from Kenya, the land of Champions, Legends and Superstars: Kipchoge, Obama and Lupita! Heheee
Rick you have been to World that is why I am fan of you but my country Pakistan is such diverse piece of art that you can see replica of every wounder of world in it. Wishing you best of luck 👍.
I love how you have always presented all your journey documentaries! You make us feel like we're actually right there beside you, filled with awe along the way, relaxed and renewed at the same time. Thank you Rick and more blessings to you and your family and your staff!❤️😀
This man has been a huge inspiration for me. He is like the Carl Sagan of traveling. His videos and books have already convinced me to travel Europe (sometimes on my own).
I just love watching Rick Steves. He is such a wealth of information when it comes to traveling. Traveling to Europe has been on my bucket list since I was young. I still remember when I first traveled out of the country. I was in third grade, going into fourth. My parents and I took a trip to Aruba. I was just amazed to see a new part of the world I had never seen before. Since then, I have been there 12 times. My parents and I are going to Aruba in a few days, and I can’t wait. The nice thing when traveling is you can meet new people. We have met some incredible people who have been coming to Aruba for many years. When you travel, connect with people, make some friends. I always look forward to traveling.
I just so love Rick Steves videos! They always make me feel happy, excited, internally refreshed & reinvigorated, so too, blessed. Blessed to be human & to be alive. I also love Rick's very humane side, which is so refreshing. The music within all of his videos, including this one, is always beautiful & very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing and for educating us.
What a remarkable, enviable life you've lived so far. I can't wait to see what is ahead, so I hope you'll continue to share your experiences. I also hope you're planning to turn those journals into a series of travel memoirs. You helped open up the world of travel to me, and in so doing have dramatically changed my life. I'm eternally grateful to you for that, Mr Steves.
Beautiful way to put it in words what I feel. The love for travel is eternal. The human curiosity is as mysterious as it is powerful. Thank you for traveling and sharing your passion to all of us Rick. Wish you safe travels
I always loved Rick Steves on OPB every Saturday night in Oregon, my home. I'm glad he somehow popped up on my videos. I'm sure there's lots more. Thank you.
Hungry to reach 100 countries, and adding 2 more countries to my list; I was pondering around this great question ‘Why I am travelling?’ In the past few days. This video is an absolute answer to all the questions I had. Wonderfully crafted and told so poetic, Rick! This is anthology to Travel. And lot of inspiration from this storytelling. Opposite of fear is understanding - is so meaningful statement! "Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb." -- Greg Child
Thank you so much, Mr. Steves. I love all your travel videos, but this one so far is the best. It brings so many nice memories of our travels in some parts of Europe. Stay safe and healthy at all times. God bless you always.
Dear Steve, I like your travel video so much. Thank you for sharing not only the travel experience but also the culture and history. Your channel very professional and deep thinking. And my favourite is your accent😅😅😅 Would you mind put the subtitles, if it’s possible. Many thank. Take care and always have a safe journey. Momo
This channel is the best thing on the internet for me ! Rick is such a great traveller, narrator and stroyteller. I have bingewatched almost all the videos during lockdown and I believe this not just a leisure and entertainment but also provides knowledge and experience. I love this ❤️ this video is special for sure ! 😍
That is why I have watched your videos for all these years. Understanding people and places and brings US all together is why and how we will keep this crazy world together. I have also had the great fortune of travel and it is what has made me the person I am today. Your a great friend though we have never met, but your presence is always with me since we have the same mindset. which is the love of people, Thanks RC
This was truly a beautiful video, it spoke to the humanity and the commonality of who we are as people, sans borders. You are not only a national treasure Rick, but you are also an "International Treasure" :)
Your video give me different kind of vibe which is impossible for me as of now to express it in words. There are so many travel vloggers & channels but still your channel will still shine brighter due to uniqueness, positive optimism, & your quality words. Thank you
I literally cried after watching this...but they were tear of joy and nostalgia... P S: Thank you for sharing your travel experience with fellow travellers!!
Dear Mr. Steaves, I could write a lot about the benefits I had from watching your programs during the pandemic, but I will speak of only one: it saved my mental health. During the months of Covid's forced imprisonment, I say that his job, so well done, was a guide to well-being. Thanks for everything.
I like and admire Rick Steves for his devotion to widening the horizon of knowledge of those (including me) who cannot travel that much. And above all, he brings the true values of life: Humanity, Peace and Happiness for human. (No politics, No wars). Thanks Rick!
Thank you so much. Your videos have helped me travel (virtually) during entire phase of pandemic. I dont know if I would ever hear from you, but I would convey my best wishes and regards to you , Rick Steves
Hi all, love travelling and waiting for the future to continue. In lockdown in Sydney Australia and watching yes you guessed it Rick Steve's Travel Shows. Be safe everyone.
Absolutely beautiful, insightful, touching, relatable - thank you for sharing these wonderful experiences with us and bringing all of us closer together ❤️
This is why we miss being able to travel and sooo look forward to getting the Covid pandemic behind us so we can reconnect with the world and its awesome people, cultures, landscapes, architectures and history - freely and for real again - something we just took for granted - but - as this beautiful Rick Steves episode reminds us we ought to be grateful for, cherish and embrace with our hearts, minds and souls as it is the greatest gift that life has in store for us !
