Pretty new to cruising but have looked at river cruising recently. Like you both I wasnt sure that they would appeal but as long as the room is nice, the food is good then I think its more about the destination. Christmas markets is a good shout but for me it would be routes that I could go and see and forget about having to drive. Some of the German river cruises look stunning but French winelands would be a bucket list for me. Outings to vinyards each day would be amazing and not having to worry how to get to and from places.
Linz’s opening gambit as to what are the downsides of river cruising was spot on ….i think it’s probably a thing that folk need to try and see how it works out … love your vlogs …👍👍
My Dad and step mum went on a couple of river cruises. They did the Nile and loved it for all the Ancient Egyptian history. They did one on the Danube as well and said it was a great way of seeing lots of different places. I love that idea of a Christmas market cruise. 🎉 Have a fantastic time on the group cruise🎉- wish we could join you. 🚢
We wish you could have joined us too Sam. We would love the Nile for the history, and hopefully one day we will feel we can do it, in the meantime a christmas markets river cruise is very appealing.
Although the idea of a river cruise appeals, it's more to do with the destinations (e.g. christmas markets) than the journey. For european cities we'd fly & use the train to get from point A to point B if we want multiple stops. We've done this in France, Italy & Germany and loved the experience, not to mention the savings compared with river cruising. The Nile, Mekong, Yangtze etc. are probably the exception here, but security concerns would be more of a consideration.
Have you thought of trying Fred Olsen, they have a reasonably priced Christmas markets cruise to Hamburg from £699 (swans bottom view)😂 can request table for 2 although not guaranteed
We think the Christmas Markets cruise will be the first one we try, seems a fairly safe bet when it comes to a river cruise, now just need to figure out which river cruise line.
@@SuiteNatured They all seem a bit scary to me. Scary in that they seem slightly claustrophobic, with just a few fellow cruisers in the same small areas the whole cruise, and then having to go on the same tours as them as well. And they always seem older than me. And slightly, without being disrespectful, posher and a bit dull. And I am 59 this year. Never feel like that on a cruise ship with their 10 bars plus etc. I cant imagine just sitting in the bar getting hammered would go down well with most of the other passengers.
We did a TUI river cruise just to see if we would like it, as we are long ocean cruisers. We loved it and was very surprised at the great service, room and food on the TUI river cruise. Great value
