Also, night furies just *can't* be extinct just because of Grimmel. There's a whole world there, he couldn't just go around the world and kill them all alone.

Sky Fury well besides colors there’s actually a lot of differences between the light fury and night furies. The light fury has smooth, almost amphibious skin, different shaped horns etc
They definitely aren't seen a lot because they're intelligent or solitary, and _blend in with the night- and if more of Toothless' species knew the skill with the lightning, in the day as well_ no of course this is proof that one guy is capable of driving that world's most dangerous and intelligent dragon species to near extinction.

I had a thought, since Hiccup & toothless are the same age, there could be an entrance to the hidden world on berk some where on berk. A small entrance small enough for a young nightfury or baby nightfury. Maybe baby toothless was wondering off one day and he found said entrance and then got stuck on berk. What if the pocket under berk was the original hid out for nightfuries. I>I

Dean said, quote: "It's located within a massive volcanic caldera that serves as a gateway to an endless maze of chambers and tunnels, which in turn work their way around the world." We only see one of the entrances, aka the one they find. Some of your videos are good but I wonder if you ever do HTTYD research, because these keep disappointing me. This bugs me because you're making your "theory" statements where facts already exist to explain it. This doesn't even matter if you've watched the movie, these were facts given to us even before the movie was released.
One possibilty could be Night Furies are actually nocturnal. They could possibly be living in the Hidden World, but they only come out at night. We've only seen the Hidden World for 5 minutes of screen time, and it was day. Just my theory.

Well, seeing how light furies appear to be litteraly only on the hidden world, I would say they're basically the result of night furies evolving in an sunless ambient as creatures in cave biomes tend to evolve white skin, or vise versa, and for the couple of furies we seen, I think it's more that they mate and stay with their mates, and so the max number of furies you can see together in normal circunstances is a couple and their current litter

I have another theory that might sound a little crazy, but here it is. Based on the relative ages of Grimmel, Drago, the warlords, or any other trappers interested in Night Furies, people have been hunting and persecuting these dragons for ages. Not many people evidently know of them (seeing as the Dragon Book says literally nothing about them), but people who want to find out will. Everyone is fascinated by Night Furies and want to hunt them down. Hiccup makes note of this in the opening of HTTYD 1, where he says the highest status comes from hunting Night Furies. This means two things- people have hunted them in the past, and there is a very large honor that comes from doing so. Usually, the honor and status thing comes from scarcity of the object in question or the dangers to be endured in order to get it. Why are Night Furies so rare, you ask? Here's my theory. Over time, the total-black Night Furies evolved into Light Furies which have inherent camouflage and a relatively smaller body size. Light Furies can also evidently fly around in daytime due to their coloration not giving them away. Therefore, as more and more Night Furies evolved over time into Light Furies, the latter's number increased while the former became rarer and rarer. Valka says Toothless may be the last of his kind, and we see an active Light Fury mating pair in the Hidden World (since there's a mum and a baby). Night Furies are bigger, bulkier, and less accustomed to camouflage than the Light Furies. This means that the Light Furies have a better survival advantage than their all-black cousins. Natural selection means that anything that gives survival advantage is selected for over time. It's not as though the Night Furies have any disadvantages, which is why their numbers still continued to exist but due to overhunting they almost went extinct. What do you guys think?

I don't believe that one man can cause an a whole entire species of dragons to go extinct when it was blatantly clear that they are elusive and hard to find and that they're very intelligent obviously that there are other hidden worlds because not all the dragons from this series would have gone there
Point is, they said they had discovered every dragon species, yet discovered a few more including the light fury in HTTYD 3. Just like the antagonist assuming that dragons can't survive in the cold, yet in HTTYD they lived in a hidden, cold cave created by the good bewilderbeast. While we don't see any night furies, it's reasonable to assume they are there, somewhere. There's so much land still undiscovered by Hiccup that he can no longer explore without the aid of Toothless. We've pretty much learned that not everything is as what it seems

In conclusion as of what everyone in the show and the audience knows with the evidence shown and given by the producers and the entire franchise of How To Train Your Dragon, Toothless is the last Night Fury and after he dies the Night Fury species will be forever extinct and until we are given definitive proof that Toothless is not the last Night Fury I will stand by this and will not change my mind no matter what theories arise from anyone in or out of the franchises fandom. Another one: if they produced 3 night lights. As grimlre said “night furries mate for life” meaning he could have reproduced with other light furries. One of the night lights, the mostly white one. Has 80% of the light furries genes. Which a extremely low chance at being 100% ( 1 out of a million let’s round ) the average dragon lives to about 4000 years. And as toothless is the same age as hiccup. He had 3970 years to reproduce with the growing population of light furries. Meaning he has to have bred nearly 100+ times which makes it absolutely possible for he to have had a offspring of at least 2 night furries with different mothers. Meaning the chances of deformation between the two night furries is in the middle. Dragons can have about 6 eggs. If it’s at a mid rate at least 3 night furries were produced properly and able to breed again. As the other two parents then again do their breeding for life with the night light that has most of their fathers genes making 200+ breeds. And at least 10 night furries then continue to breed with the same population till the light fury race and night fury race is equal which would take around 82 years because when hiccup was around his 50s toothless was too which makes at least 1 other night fury produced within 20 years without hiccup. However can not be bred with toothless directly. But since their both only 50 the 1 night furry can breed with 1000 other light furries to create weaker toothless genes and more night furries toothless could reproduce with. Over the time lapse of toothlesses 4000 years there would be around 900 successful bred night furries. Now that toothless was out of captivity, the nightlights will then become less rare and night furries will then again cause mass destruction without toothless being once captive and as we saw, toothless showed hiccup as a non threat and the nightlights most likely passed that onto their children. Making more heirs to the hidden world throne safer. In total would be 900 night furries, 8000+ night lights , and with the light furry population as if in their era, 6000+ light furries over toothless life span.
This is in 2022. But the show Dragons: The Nine Realms shows us that there is more than 1 Hidden World. It shows us an entire different one. This one seems smaller than the Hidden World in the 3rd movie. And this Hidden world his not even close to the ocean. This shows us that not all Hidden Worlds are in the ocean. But there is most likely no Night Furies anywhere in the world at this point in time because the show takes place 1,300 years after the event of the 3rd movie. But the theory of more than 1 night fury could mean that the population increased over time.

After Grimmel started hunting the nightfuries, the hunters had a plan to hunt the nightfuries during the day so it’s easier, then when the nightfuries realized they were being hunted they traveled and adapted to having white scales and the power of disappearing to hide WAY better during the day where they used to be hunted, and they discovered the hidden world and lived in solitude there and every-so-often one of the “lightfuries” leaves the hidden world to seek out other nightfuries or “lightfuries” and take them back to their safe place known as the “hidden world” for dragons! Honestly I think there might be more Night Furies in that universe, just hidden and they must have adapted somewhere where no Vikings thought they would have.
Even though it's pretty very unlikely that night furies are almost extinct(only one beeing Toothless), the directors would probably not want us to see another night fury because toothless is supposed to be very unique. They wanted Toothless to be very unique and having multiple night furies would probably take away his specialty. That's probably why Dean wants the idea of him beeing the only one, to make him stand out, so they had to come up with a reason (this beeing Grimmel). But in my head I can picture night furies still beeing around but even if they were we would probably never see them unless they want to make a prequal and show how Toothless ended up with the Red death or something.

I did not watch the video of why there were no night furies in the hidden world but I'm going to say why. In the first How to train your dragon series, riders of berk there is an episode talking about "The isle of night" A suppose island that only inhabited night furies, why only night furies? because in that same episode hiccup reads that naturally Night Furies are actually hostile to other dragons, meaning they couldn't live in the hidden world also another explanation to why they're all most likely extinct after toothless. If all the Night Furies lived on the Isle of night why did Toothless leave? Well I believe that Grimmel found the Isle of night and proceeded to kill off all night furies and so I believe that Toothless mother got him to fly off the isle to protect him but not having time to fly off herself, "but if night furies are hostile to other dragons why is toothless so friendly?" well, leaving his island a bit young he would have not grown the behavior to hate other dragons, he also would have found Dragon island and ended up living there and followed them to berk ending up to the first movie. Now there is a chance there are still other night furies, other dragons in that world like can kick out one of there kind for whatever reason so the night furies can kick out a night fury for whatever reason so they could've kicked out a night fury or two meaning there are very few wandering the earth but once more Grimmel could've found them and killed them.
Alteori, This video focuses on Night Furies, but in the the 3rd movie when they are at the hidden world, I remember seeing a white with black specks light furry! I don’t know if that is the only other one, because i have a vague memory.
There is a pan shot of the dragon toothless defeated in httrd2 with 2 night furies beside him but you have to look quick or you will miss it when all the dragons begin to bow their heads so their are more then 2 night furies after all !!! this is in the hidden world movie !!!! look for it !!! :)
I was hoping there would be any night furies in the third movie. but my hopes have sunken when I saw the light fury. Sure she's a sight to behold and she's beautiful but, Why a light fury? Why not a night fury? Most of us don't believe night furies are extinct, Dean, we've waited for years and this is what we get? I love the third movie. I believe toothless is not the last Nightfury. Here's why 1: night furies are supposed to be really smart. If they figured out that they were being hunted out, will would most definitely go I to hiding, maybe toothless got lost and that's how he found the best. 2: how can one man kill off a whole species? Especially one like a night fury? Grumble is just a rip off of Vigo and Drago. He was just I don't know. To plain.(Vigo could probably do it😳) And 3: there are little Easter eggs of night furies through out the show? And if there is nothing known on them, than maybe they did go into hiding for many a generation and people have forgotten about them and think they are folk lore. In an episode of httyd it said that night furies are very terratorial and don't like to socialise with other dragons. Maybe that's why there are no night furies in there.
I'm a bit curious to see sand wraiths show up. Those and woolly howls have a similar body structure to night and light fury dragons, so I'm curious to see how they'd all look alongside eachother if they were put in the same area.

I’m just patiently waiting for another HTTYD movie to come out about Toothless’s whole life up to when Hiccup shot him down. Then we would answer many questions. Did he grow up alone? If not, how many family members did he have? What do Night Furies ACTUALLY DO?

There's also a theory that night furies originate from a more southern, warmer climate and a small group of them was invasive to the archipelago and that there are others in their natural habitat, and another part of the theory is that light furies are a polar subspecies of night furies.

My theory is that Nightfury’s aren’t a native species to Iceland and live in a slightly warmer climate like northwestern Europe or around modern day Quebec, as evident by toothless warming up the ground he lays on with his fire in the first movie, and Grimmel stating nightfurys can’t survive in the cold. As well as in real live, we almost never see species with as much similarity’s as the nightfurys and lightfurys living in the same location. Take the leopard and jaguar for example; similar in look, hunting strategy, and social dynamic, but not location.
Yes the night furies might still exist but a super low chance of being thousands. Grimel said he hunted them to extinction but he missed toothless, so that would be a 50/50 chance of being true. Toothless was young (maybe close to the same age as hiccup)when he was founded by hiccup. But because he was young Toothless either didn't know where the night furies (if they still existed) were hidden or he was caught in the sound waves from the red death and was manipulated. We still don't know where the N.F (night furies) could be either up there or hidden, colonizing and regrowing their population. If Dreamworks makes a new movie we would still have a low chance of the population being revealed. Like Alteori said we might have only seen 1% of the hidden world the night furies might be hiding in deeper parts. And we only saw 3 light furies, a close cousin to the N.F species, Luna, the unnamed L.F and the child. So Grimel might have hunted a few light furies and they're also hidden or their species is just endangered. But if a new movie or T.V series come out they would possibly just reveal a few L.F or just 1 N.F. AnD tHaTs JuSt A tHeOrY

The thing I don't get is, if Toothless isn't the only Night Fury, how come we haven't SEEN another one? In all 3 of the movies, the 3-4 shows, and in the books, we have YET to see another Night Fury. So, unless Toothless truly is the last of his kind, where's the rest of them?!
Night fury’s from what we know Only lay one egg maybe two it is possible that there could be others out there but most of them if not all of them are dormant eggs waiting to be shocked by lightning also their eggs are abandoned from the moment they are laid

To be fair, what we saw in the last movie was only just a piece of the Hidden World. Therefore, even the massive number of dragons we saw gathered there only represents a small percentage of the overall population of the entirety of the Hidden World. By that token, it is logical to assume that somewhere in the Hidden World, there is a colony of Night Furies living out their lives in peace and safety.. We have thus far only seen ONE night fury. Perhaps they by nature keep to their own. Not hostile towards other dragons, but having no drive to seek the company of other species as long as theirs remains in significant numbers. There are many ways that Dreamworks could spin a story of other night furies beyond Toothless, if they so choose. In spite of them suggesting that Grimmel hunted down every last one of them, except for Toothless, I find it ridiculous that a single person managed to hunt an entire species to extinction. Night Furies are presented as possessing problem-solving intelligence. It is safe to assume that many would have recognized the danger and sought refuge in the Hidden World before the events of the first movie, so the few stubborn holdouts that remained might have ben hunted down by Grimmel, but the species itself could live on. The only thing we have seen in the Hidden World regarding Toothless set after the third movie was Homecoming. And then we only saw the immediate area he and his family were staying in at the time. In the decades and centuries following those events, as Toothless and his family would move about, discovery of a night fury colony might have happened. And we don't really know what a night fury's full lifespan is. For all we know, Toothless could still be alive as an Ancient Night Fury at the time of the events of The Nine Realms, residing with his own kind, with his Light Fury mate as the sole other species among them, his children long since having left home to form nests and families of their own, one of which is the colony of Night Lights we saw in The Nine Realms, which Thunder belonged to. But let's say that Toothless really is the last night fury. That does not make his mating with a Light Fury any less special, as it results in the emergence of an entirely new species, to which he is the father. His legacy lives on, regardless. Whether intentionally so or not, there is a lot of profound subtext within what Dreamworks has produced... And the foundation for a lot of potential future stories, and some awesome fan fiction. Let us say for a moment that Toothless has lived to become an Ancient Night Fury. Another thing with the nightfuries and lightfuries, how would nightfuries be the extinct species if there's an even rarer, less known species of fury out there? People at least knew about nightfuries, even if there was no documentation of them on berk (because obviously they wouldve been seen alive and documented if they've been hunted to extinction, so much for no one's ever seen one) but wouldn't lightfuries be more hunted since they're so rare, that up until the third movie, no one knew they existed? Because all the villians were obsessed with nightfuries but grimmel didn't look shocked with the lightfury so he clearly knows they exist, so why would nightfuries be his main target if there's an even rarer sub species? It would make more sense if lightfuries were the extinct species since there's so few of them, and if they've been hunted, would explain why there's so few.
Anyone else didn't really *believe* the movie at all when they said they *need* to close up all dragons for their safety and that they can just do that? The entire world building told us that dragons basically are the top predators on every island and ecosystem like every ocean. There seem to be no bears on land or whales in the ocean. Their place is always replaced by a simular functioning dragon

HTTYD 3 wasnt actually as sad ass i expected it to be, nobody important died (from good guys obviously) and in the end Hiccup and Astrid along with Zephyr and Nuffink sail to the hidden world and see their dragons again so its safe to assume they can visit them pretty often considering they were only 4 people on that small boat (2 being kids) so it wasnt really a heart wrenching final goodbye, i didnt cry during this film, i cried more watching stoicks death and funeral in HTTYD 2, the only thing i find sad about this movie is that its the last installment

The movie would have been soooo much better if they pushed back the discovery of the light fury, and replaced her with another Nightfury. I mean, the Light fury seems so bland. I would have love to see another Night fury because we have been led on to believe there was no more left. Then we could get a better understanding of what a female Nightfury would look like, or even how far their coloring can range. A good video idea might also be Why was Toothless attacking Berk? He had no reason too, and like if you say they are hiding away from humans, why was Toothless out there?
