Why Western Men Are Manipulated By Thai Women 

I always tell my Thai gf that anything under $100 is no problem, but anything higher I have to ask my wife.

If you're ignored back home, and you're suddenly a star in Thailand, be prepared to pay a lot one way or another.

I am a Thai woman who has viewed comments talking about Thai women. I want to tell everyone that everywhere there are good and bad women, it just depends on where you choose to go. If you move to a new destination, you may find the person you are looking for.

I first dated a Thai woman in 1987 at the age of 19, and I can tell you that you have completely missed the main reason why men (not only Western men) get manipulated by women (not only Thai women.) It’s because they truly love them. You may not fully appreciate this fact until you are older and you’ve experienced it for yourself Invariably those who have been manipulated start out just like men who are in their 30s and 40s now are starting out. Nobody thinks that they will end up being manipulated out of their money and then discarded. But eventually in many cases true love hits and the man thinks “this is the One.” There have been warnings ever since Farang men first met Thai women, so don’t think men in 2023 are more sophisticated or more clued up. They’re not. They are merely earlier in their life cycle than men who were in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s back in the eighties for example. The common refrain is “my girl/wife is different.” The issue is all relationships are built on trust. The danger is that trust can be betrayed. So don’t be too judgemental of those washed-up, bitter Western and elderly males in places like Pattaya who got ripped off and kicked out of the house they bought. Despite what you think, that could one day be you when you truly fall in love and make the “mistake” of unconditionally loving and trusting your spouse.

Getting to know someone on a personal level is not a business situation. Take your time: Offer your kindness, insight, and love. Be honest and generous with your emotional involvement, but do not start buying buffaloes. She is equally responsible for building a respectful relation with you. At the end of the day, a relationship is all about helping each other. If she thinks that sounds like a stupid idea, maybe you should consider other options...

Been married for almost 8 years to a wonderful Thai lady who lives with me in Canada. She took much more risk than I did to come here. She gave up a career being a head surgical nurse in a couple different hospitals in BK. Also learning our culture language and taking on a lesser job than she had in Thailand. I am retired and living a good life here after selling my company. She does not need to work but she wants to send money monthly to family living back in her homeland. Normally we get back to see her family 1 or two times a year. Hopefully getting back this upcoming year . She is not a manipulative person at all like my first wife was who was from here, quite the opposite. I did however date another from Thailand before her who was manipulating me for a while until I did some digging and found out she was dating other men. My advice is to not go to Thailand and think every woman is perfect. Just like any woman you meet, don’t go trying to buy their love or I guarantee you will attract the worst women. Trying to be mr moneybags is not the way to go. Start with a humble beginning and you will attract women who are also humble. I am a bit biased towards meeting a good Thai woman than to a western woman after I hit the jackpot. Good luck to whoever reads about my experience. Cheers

I kinda have a rule that whenever I go to Thailand, and if I decide to date someone, I always make sure they are university-educated and have a decent job. It's not foolproof, but generally they are less interested in my money when they make more money than me. ;)

Don't invest what you don't want to lose in Thailand

I've been going to Thailand since I was 17 in 1987 and I've herd these story's before but for every bad story you can tell I could probably give you 5 or 6 good stories. Yes dating has changed Internet social media but I don't believe it's all a good thing. There's a lot of us from the 80s and 90s could teach you a thing or two.

Back in 80s and 90s was much better, no phones, no internet! People put more attention on each other, socialising, talking.

Hey Forrest, great Vid man. I've been going to Thailand for over 30 yrs. Everything you say is pretty spot on. There are good and bad everywhere, if you allow (bad) things to happen to you, they will. It's great to hear some opinions from the gals here and I totally agree. You have to take things on a " Case By Case" experience. I have met some wonderful, solid and down to earth ladies in Thailand. I have also met a few crazies...lol.

I'm one who had been to Thailand from the late 80's and 90's - and Forrest you are right from the standpoint that today's travelers to Thailand are more aware - thanks to the internet of course. I admit that I made some mistakes in the 80's and 90's - giving gifts when I shouldn't have but it only cost $50-100-200 and I gave the gifts out of the goodness of my heart not because I was conned. Am I smarter today - yes, definitely, from my prior experience and with the internet. But I've never been conned into giving a buffalo or big money for someone's house who said the money would be paid back - that was not due to the internet or being aware or being manipulated, it was just common sense on my part.

I enjoy helping them from time to time and don't really expect anything back. I guess I'm just different.

What you're saying is true. One always has to question situations as they come. If you are financially disciplined enough to afford to travel to Thailand, don't lose it when you get there. On my 1st visit, I went haywire and burnt a lot of cash on vices. By my 2nd visit, I realised that going to Thailand for holidays would always be a part of my life; hence, I applied my usual discipline and it went well.

Thanks for the video. Thailand is a great holiday country. Looking forward to my 9th trip in June. But moving there? No, I am far too comfortable in my own country (and culture) for that.

Adhere to the Short Time rule, two hours with them and out. The longer you stay with them, the more opportunity you're giving them to drain your money. Some of these Thai women move quick. I had a friend who said the girl asked him to buy her a car and house on the first date.

I loved my husband when I met him 15 years ago so I married him. To be honest with you, his attitude is similar to yours, saying " No" for everything. I am at the point that " I'm bored and I don't care anymore. Love rate has reduced a lot. I am asking myself constantly instead that " What is the love? How can I be happier? What I really want in my life? "

I have 2 group of friends. Group one. 500B/day as a live in GF, cooking, cleaning, laundry, thai teaching, arobics...etc. Group two. Have 4-6 freelancer friends and goes party once a week. 1.500B/time.....! That is how it should be........!

These women live by one rule. " Love don't eat" keep that in mind when dealing with Thai women and to be fine. Still a much better option than anything in America using you for your money when you find a good Thai woman. Case closed

I’ve never been to Thailand, but I completely agree with you. I’m going to vacation in Thailand someday. I worked with a Man. He retired about a year before me. We are both Teamsters and retired when we had about 30 years in. He decided to retire to Thailand about two years before he actually did it. He sold his house in 2007 at its peak that put about $400,000 in the bank account. He had at least 600,000 in his 401(k) got a pension of close to $4500 a month. I’m sure he’s collecting Social Security now because he was only 52 when he retired he is now 64. So he is no Vagabon small pension cheap Charlie. Not only did we work together we lived not too far from each other. He came back to the US to visit his parents get his taxes done visit some friends. I ran into him in the parking lot at the grocery store. I asked him how Thailand was,he absolutely loved it. So what’s going on with girlfriends. And he gave me this advice. Never ever let a Thai girlfriend move in. He made that mistake. He asked her to leave but she wouldn’t so he had to wait until he had 30 days left on his lease before he moved out. He found a new place to live. Paid his last month told management what was going on and said she could live there for the last 30 days but if she breaks anything it’s on her. Management said don’t worry about it, we will talk to her. After 14 years of living in Thailand, he is part owner of a bar along with numerous other retirees. And he finally let another woman move in. But I’m sure she knows the score. Ask for money, be clingy, cynical and sarcastic you’re gone.

Good video! I am fresh back from Costa Rica. Late 50's here and first trip out of the USA. Had a scam for a few hundred dollars. Learned a valuable lesson and not jaded at all. My fault and lesson learned. Would I go back? Hell yes! This 'ol dog has learned. Stay on your guard guys and enjoy the experience. Good girls are out there. Have to vet them.
