I don't think he is the best stand up, I know he is. Ever since I watched Carpet Remnant world years ago he's been my go to for stand up. Not one single bad stand up and it's done in a genius way. IMO anyway
My wife had only really enjoyed his bits on the UKIPs from Comedy Vehicle and the Brexit stuff from Content Provider previously, but I showed her this, and if anything she laughed too hard. My imaginary gay wife who's a man told me she was out of order...
@@hyweltthomasmy wife has a best mate like that. Does her the power of good. She's always smiling and laughing, now. Sometimes she smiles at nothing, too. Just stares off into space with this lovely contented look on her face, like she's just remembered she doesn't need to do some arduous, unsatisfying chore. Our love life is still in the gutter, but, to be fair, she says it's not because she doesn't find me attractive, but because she's always a bit achy down there due to all the squats and the like playing havoc with her pelvis, or something.
Stewart Lee is like watching and hearing Wagner's Ring Cycle all the way through in one sitting! Both are brilliant! Trouble is, if you do that, you do let yourself go a bit.
i cant wait to show this to my girlfriend who was less than impressed at me showing her stewart lee pretending to be twenty somethings going "aw mate" for 10 minutes
I thought this section had to be a good way of reaching out to people who maybe hadn't watched him for a while, and the JKR bit really knocked it out of the park.
@@billylapworth Really? He had a bit earlier in the show about JK Rowling's opinions. This part is the extension of that bit, in what's called "a callback" to the previous bit. It's funny both because he's calling back, and because he's fixing the joke the woman suggested he could fix later in the show, but he's doing by saying it wouldn't work. When it clearly just did. I only know this because I'm a genius. [Although, to be fair, it doesn't work as well unless you watch the whole 4 hours.]
@@Z00Maddict Establishing wide shot of an empty street of dirty wooden single story buildings. No people. It is the middle of the day. The sun is high in the sky and there are harsh highlights and deep shadows. The wind kicks up dust from the dirt street. A saloon door is creaking and swinging in the wind. A tumble weed rolls through the shot from left to right. We can hear the low groan of the wind. The door creaks again. The picture fades to black while the sound continues. Finally the sound fades too.
@@richardhall5489 beautifully described, a picture painted in words, surely there should be a swinging jungle canyon rope bridge leading the viewer into the distance.....
I can’t help thinking that Lee did this routine purely because he knew how meta it would be when one of his male fans was lying in bed with a laptop on his chest watching a clip on RU-vid of Stewart Lee calling him out for lying in bed with a laptop on his chest watching a clip on RU-vid of Stewart Lee
Stew may do four and a half hours of build up to a pay off, but by showing this to my girlfriend I have justified a decade of relationship threatening groundwork. Also, Mark Lamarr's dad has let himself go, etc.
I tried showing Stewart Lee to my wife, but unfortunately, it was the fifty six minutes of him repeating the unintelligible sounds of a word said out of context. She said "Is that all he does" I said "Shut up , hes a genius"
Ah, the nothing. Do you remember the nothing? Who here remembers the nothing? Look, there's nothing over there! The Comedy Vehicle was great and where I really discovered his genius.
I saw this gig in Buxton in late 2022 and can’t remember even half this gig 😂 This is a million percent true tho, on every single level. “Bald man. Bald man with a beard. Bald man. Bald man with a beard” 😂😂😂
This was better as a part of the fully pirated gig that got taken down. Also the bloated corpse of a drowning victim not found for years has……….finish it yourself
@@santorini8423 Oh. I thought maybe it was the old English spelling, or maybe something from Latin. But it's just to make the mundane seem exotic and powerful. 'K.
I'm guessing you haven't watched much then. Your comment is inaccurate, but if you feel that way, you won't watch enough of him to see that it is inaccurate, so it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy in your mind.
@@erenjaegerbomb8653 People do this with all forms of art. You have to be able to allow new and better things into your mind to really appreciate them. But if you don't then that's fine too. Whatever you need to do!
